In case anyone has lost count, there are now 38 completed levels and 28 levels with glass.

That puts the height about 575 feet.

Is that a yellow tower crane for Level Urban apartments? lower right of Cameron 405's skyline shot.

The one shane453 is asking about is right on top of the Renassiance Hotel. The only question is how far behind it is it.

A line running from the north parking deck at WRWA passing thru the Rennaisance Hotel crosses right over the center of the Level Urban site.

Flew in this morning and got a nice perspective of the tower from the NW - looks so massive compared to the other buildings.

Instead of trying to get a new camera from the Chase building you should put a second camera pointed at the base from this vantage point.

When we get the Chase camera going, we can just point this camera at the base.

The Chase angle will be a much better perspective to watch the building top out.

Look closely, you can see the very top being slightly shorter width.

I still don't see it. If you look at the crane on the right side, the floors still appear to align directly up and down with it.

I was thinking if 925' is still the target height and that all the talk about the height reduction was just a prank to pull a surprise on us all when people start to noticed that floors keep going up. Unless there are concrete evidence that the reduction change was real. Move the data centers/floors, fine, but floors can still be put to other uses.

The floors have started to taper.. Unfortunately, 925ft ain't gonna happen.

I should have had the March update done by now but I've had a whole lot of overtime at work and then when I get home I'm falling asleep while working on it. Depending on how tomorrow is, I'm going to try and finish it all. I did get a lot though. I have the India Temple demolition to do too.

Fro mthe current pics that was posted, i do not see any tappering off or anything, does anyone else? Also has it been confirmed 100% that its going to be 850ft or is it going to be 925ft?

Pete
03-22-2011, 02:20 PM
The tapering will be very slight and only more visible when more floors have been added.

There was an interview about a week ago with the project manager for the tower and he said 1) tapering was starting and 2) it would be 850 feet.

And yes...the official top-out height IS 850 FT...that'll keep it from dwarfing all the other buildings so much anyway. 850 blends in better with the current skyline than 925, don't you think??

You know what is funny is they lowered the height because of falling energy prices. Now that the building is nearing completion, energy prices are back up.

And I remember reading earlier that the tapering was a total of 9 feet. So in just a couple of floors you're not going to notice a taper since that's 4 1/2 feet against a total rise of 276 feet.

While all the other skyscrapers generally have a spike at the top, I think Devon need to seriously consider a huge iconic torch (Olympic Style) with the flame turned on only at night. Its not too late to add that in before the top finishes, because it will cost more money to install at a later time.

Just wait until Devon is done. It still has over 300 feet to go. It will be twice as tall as the three building right next to it (FNC, City Place, Oklahoma). Take the distance from the top of the building to the top of the cranes and add that to the top of the cranes. That is how high it will be when it is done. The only way Devon won't dwarf all of downtown is if the picture is taken straight down.

This is IMO is the best way to view the skyline once The Devon Tower is complete,it will look the most balanced or not so dominate!http://ts3.mm.bing.net/images/thumbnail.aspx?q=821543305998&id=dcfa141f570f24b690a1717594035a94&url=http%3a%2f%2fi278.photobucket.com%2falbums%2fk k92%2fgandjdunlap%2fDEVONTOWER-SW.jpg

I liked this one just because of the trend for each of the buildings getting increasingly taller in large steps going from the Renaissance center to Devon, and just for the thought of how much taller the next one would be if that line continued.
