This viewpoint may be the new signature view of downtown Okc. dmoor82 01-28-2011, 03:40 PM This first angle is my fav,but The second would be The best postcard view for OKC IMO,photos by Thundercitizen! http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/826/dsc0005rb.jpghttp://img844.imageshack.us/img844/3426/dsc0001iq.jpg UnFrSaKn 01-28-2011, 03:56 PM http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5082/5255467319_1d06723a62_b.jpg from cameron_405 http://www.flickr.com/photos/cameron_405/5255467319/ This should go on the Wikipedia page. UnFrSaKn 01-28-2011, 04:02 PM I've lived within 5 miles of downtown most of my life. Waiting for food inside a restaurant, I glanced over towards downtown and could make out the skyline over another restaurant sign and trees and I was so proud of the progress. You really can see the impact from just about everywhere. Up until now, the skyline became just another ordinary thing you don't even notice, although it's usually visible. I've always been on the south/southest side so it's the same view from my videos and the one from the river. OKC@heart 01-28-2011, 04:05 PM At 30 Floors it is pretty exciting to realize that we have only 20 more floors to go. Additionally in 6 more floors we will exceed the floor count history for OKC! The only record this building will still leave to Tulsa will be greatest number of floors with Williams tower topping out at 52 floors. I guess we can leave that to the next tower of significance that will be built in Okc. I dream that it will consist of a two tower solution with one being dedicated to Hotel and Residence tower, and the main tower being some serious class A office w/ a nice corporate anchor tennant and plenty of room for additional corporations and or smaller companies to locate to and make a home in Okc. Exciting times to be had for sure! Mike63 01-28-2011, 07:24 PM My company MD Building Products will be making parts for the atrium. Extruded aluminum and some fabrication of some sort. I do not have a clue what the pieces will do or even where they will be located in the atrium. Thunder 01-28-2011, 07:43 PM Unofficially, the tower is already equal to or higher than the Chase Tower perceived by the thousands of citizens traveling nearby. I can see it on 29th in Del City being so super bright. It is very much like the guiding light from heaven afar. Mike63 01-28-2011, 07:59 PM It does appear taller from the distance than the chase building from either side of town. It so dingy looking! UnFrSaKn 01-28-2011, 08:32 PM Unofficially, the tower is already equal to or higher than the Chase Tower perceived by the thousands of citizens traveling nearby. Cityplex Tower - 60 floors, 648 feet in height Thunder 01-29-2011, 12:03 PM Driving away from Crest on Reno, the Devon Tower really do stand out of the skyline!!! Then it appears again across city line into Del City (after all those trees), the Devon Tower!!! I got a nice HDD video camera today and its such a perfect day to go out there, but I'm very sleepy now. Still, I have to learn how to play with this gadget. metro 01-29-2011, 01:19 PM Cityplex Tower - 60 floors, 648 feet in height Ok, well either way the 52 stories @heart was saying dor the tallest is wrong. Thanks for clarifying us though. OKC@heart 01-29-2011, 04:22 PM Thanks for the correction I forgot about Cityplex UnFrSaKn 01-29-2011, 05:14 PM Do some people forget there's a way to search all of human knowledge at the blink of an eye? Thunder 01-29-2011, 07:03 PM I got tricked. I looked online for reviews, it is actually SD. I dunno why it has HDD on it. Panasonic SDR-H85 showing 80 GB (HDD) and was told its High Digital Definition. :-( Its really SD and I wanted to do a nice video on this tower. architect5311 01-29-2011, 10:07 PM Great pics! looks like they are starting the 30th floor. By my calculations the tower is 471' (6x21+23x15) so 2 more floors and it will become the tallest in okc by february 10th! Someone please correct me if I used innaccurate numbers. Pete 01-29-2011, 10:39 PM It wasn't MacGruber that proposed the idea of a webcam in his Chase Tower office, it was another poster. And we are still working on it and expect it to happen in the near future; that vantage point would be higher than shown above. Those are awesome sketches architect!! Thanks for sharing them. architect5311 01-29-2011, 10:48 PM Flew in last night, on the drive home imagined the view with the finished tower......WOW! cant wait... http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk92/gandjdunlap/ViewfromSW.jpg architect5311 01-29-2011, 11:13 PM Hello - long time lurker and first time poster. I own a webcam and work in the Chase Building on a fairly high floor. I will see about setting up the cam up here for you guys. It may be a bandwidth issue, but at the very least, maybe I can figure out how to send still pictures every hour or somesuch. Anyway, I would post a pic I took today with my iPhone from where the cam would be located, but apparently, I need to be a member longer to do that. Coming soon, I guess! Sorry ChaseDweller, my bad.....the Chase Cam will be an awesome viewpoint. LawtonButch 01-29-2011, 11:56 PM HDD=Hard Drive Disk I think I have that same (or definitely similar) camera and L O V E it. Have fun with your new toy. metro 01-30-2011, 09:10 AM Do some people forget there's a way to search all of human knowledge at the blink of an eye? I was on a mobile device and didn't feel like Googling, but knew there was a tower with more floors than what @heart claimed. UnFrSaKn 01-30-2011, 09:12 PM Devon should top Chase around the time I do the February video update. MadMonk 01-30-2011, 09:50 PM I got tricked. I looked online for reviews, it is actually SD. I dunno why it has HDD on it. Panasonic SDR-H85 showing 80 GB (HDD) and was told its High Digital Definition. :-( Its really SD and I wanted to do a nice video on this tower. HDD stands for Hard Disk Drive. Your camera stores its movies on an 80GB hard disk instead of tape (or flash memory). Guess you should have looked at reviews before buying. Kerry 01-31-2011, 08:06 AM That's exactly where I was when I looked. I was getting something to eat. Pete should sell OKCTalk t-shirts and then you can wear them around town so you know when we bump into each other. holm1231 01-31-2011, 10:49 AM I have been trying to calculate, just like others, the height of the tower at this point by multiplying the number of floors, etc. One thing caught my attention is that we know that the level heights are around 20 and 15 ft. But what about the concrete between the floors and ceiling. it has to be 3-5 ft thick, and is that included in the floor height that is already given? Pete 01-31-2011, 07:39 PM holm, the thickness of the floor/ceiling is definitely included in the height of each level. On a completely different topic, I received more details about the lighting for Devon Tower. I was able to confirm the LED lighting will be only in the three "indentions" and the crown. I was told that they could have easily (from a construction standpoint) added the same to the entire building, but it was very expensive. But originally, Devon was only going to have white lights in the indentions then decided to add color as well, and there will be virtually an unlimited amount of colors and programming effects for the sides and crown of the building. They will be doing a test of floors 10+ in a couple of weeks and hopefully we'll know the exact dates soon. And I was also told that the current and future tests are only run on about 50% power and that when they go full-bore, all that lighting will be incredibly bright. jbrown84 01-31-2011, 11:24 PM I think it will look better with lighting only in the crown and "indentions". okc_bel_air 02-01-2011, 10:43 AM Since we are in a blizzard I thought I would give you the sunrise from atop the Devon tower. I was told this is from the top of the 30th floor. http://www.rhodesdesigns.com/Sunrise_Devon_Tower.jpg MadMonk 02-01-2011, 11:44 AM Awesome pic!
