From today. I think we've all seen that glare before but I had some time to kill at Wheeler Park...

Last February I was driving to the airport and it was a misty somewhat cloudy day. There was just enough sun that it looked like a huge laser beam shooting through the clouds towards the Southside. Was awesome.

Took this while landing in OKC Thursday night. Did a nice approach all around downtown.

I thought I would share a few photos that I took the Devon tower from earlier in june. I did some temp work with the company that was contracted to disconnect and reconnect Devon employees computers and hardware. Most of these were taken from the 34th to 40th floor.

In yesterdays DOK, said that Vast is opening October 24, I believe. They are now or soon to be taking reservations.

I was told that Vast and the banquet facility will have soft openings on October 1st.

I know they have booked events starting Oct. 1.

No photoshopping other than routine adjustments (sharpness, cropping, resize, etc.)

In catch22 pictures, I like the new sculpture (frame 6) in the MBG of the three native americans shooting their arrows into the sky. It's a really nice sculpture addition to the gardens.

WOW ! Awesome. Beyond first class. I've got reservations for Vast in January, can't wait.

Devon certainly built an amazing facility. Everything about it has been done to an extremely high standard. OKC is fortunate to have a corporate citizen like Devon.

Illy (the coffee shop) should be open any day. The interior is finished. I am not sure what the delay is. I hope it will be open next week. They added more seating with chairs that are a different color in front of the coffee shop this week. It will serve gelato too! Can't wait!

This shot almost looks like they were mocking people afraid of heights with the floor design.

That is correct the one on the east was damaged in a wind storm and the other window I am not sure about. It is in a tricky location and they have to cut windows to match the location.

Yes, they are still working on the entire system and hope to be finished in about another month.

When are they going to fill up the moat around the tower?

they just started putting the stones in the moat last week

Remember, the official finish date isn't until October.

They moved in early but the October timeline has always been what they've pointed to for final completion and they are getting darn close.

All that is really left is the main water feature around the base of the tower, the park between it and the Colcord, the external LED lighting, a few floors at the very top and the restaurant and banquet space on the 49th & 50th floors. I'm sure all this will be done in the next two months.


From the start of demolition, it only took them 2.5 years to starting moving employees in and the total project will be about 3 years. To put that into perspective, Chesapeake takes almost that long to complete just ONE of their six-story campus buildings.

The speed and thoroughness of Devon complex has been amazing to watch. They paid for a world class architecture and construction team and it shows.

Many more trees as you look north, but I agree that more are needed everywhere.

The whole Central Park, Core to Shore and river projects should make a big difference.

I had an employee at Devon tell me the other night that they were finished through the 42nd floor. He said he is on floor 10 and is in IT. He also told me that their phone system has some kind of skype like feature that displays their face live on a screen of whoever you're speaking with on the inter office calls.

Maybe I'm a little paranoid, but there are bad guys out there and the general public doesn't need to know where certain departments are located, especially IT.

While people hacking systems or breaking in gets press, generally in IT disgruntled employees/ex-employees are a far more likely source of problems.
