Anyone else think that the white construction lights look a lot nicer through the blue glass than the permanent yellow ones?

Pete
03-07-2012, 01:08 PM
I think they have been concentrating on getting all the common elements complete (lobby, rotunda, plaza, garden wing, etc.) and also completely finishing the first 30 floors so they can move in the first block of staff. That is supposed to happen starting a week from Monday!

After that, I'm sure they will really pick up the speed with the remaining floors. The restaurant will open in the fall, and I bet that will be the very last thing they finish.

Oh okay, makes sense now, is this going to be a very expensive restaurant?

They said it will be upscale but not incredibly expensive; pricing on par with the nicer restaurants in town.

Why would someone want to put a big copywriter on an image that is so easily obtainable?

I think the focus will be on the LED lighting when the everything is complete. Not sure how many lights will be on after hours when the everyone moves in.

Pete

I'm sure the lights will all be on motion sensors once the building is fully up and running, which means at night most the interior lights will be off.

They are going for LEED certification and conserving energy is a big part of that.

Hopefully they don't put those in the bathrooms....I was in a building that had those installed in the bathroom. I had a level 5 emergency and went into the bathroom, 5 minutes later I am sitting in the dark in the bathroom with no way to turn the light on. Had to wait about 15 minutes for someone to come into the bathroom to activate the motion sensor. Fun times!

It has more to do with you bringing something up that was settled over a week ago than it does anything else.

I don't have any pictures but I drove by on I-40 today about 5:10 and the reflection from the sun on Devon made it seem even more massive than normal. I had to try extra hard not to look at it because I was driving.

I've run into the same issue before... and ended up throwing a roll of TP (luckily there were two in the stall) over the stall and hoped that it would activate the sensor... it did, thank goodness

Cooper, I own a retail store that sells post cards of Oklahoma City, among other things. One of my sales reps was by and I mentioned to her that her company needed to update any cards that incorporate skyline shots. I showed her your photos and she was blown away, like most of us on here. Can a company like that license some of your shots?

I've been reading a lot on LEED lately and began to wonder if Devon was trying to achieve LEED certification. I could have guessed they were but I had not seen an official report that they were and still haven't but I trust what you say since you post facts plus you have your connections.

The presentation they gave OCURA when they announced plans to build included statements that they would be working to achieve LEED certification. I know there are various levels, and I'm not sure which level they were pursuing, but they definitely listed that as a priority during construction.

I didn't know about the Devon Tower until it started going vertical so that's why I had no clue about the LEED certification. I actually stumbled across a website that was comparing Oklahoma City to Jacksonville and listed all the pros and cons of both cities and the Devon Tower was the first pro listed for Oklahoma City and then I started searching "new building in Oklahoma City" and "Devon Tower in Oklahoma City" and surprisingly that's how I found OKCTalk. Amazing how much more knowledgeable I am about Oklahoma City now.
