LOVE this shot!
redrunner 02-27-2012, 12:27 AM The juxtaposition of this photo is very telling of OKC's past and future.
Lauri101 02-27-2012, 03:19 AM Will - great shots! I really like the one that frames Devon bldg with chain link fence!
We're so lucky to have many talented photographers on this forum are are able to take the time and have the eye!
Thundercitizen 02-27-2012, 03:57 AM Thanks for the pics, Will. You have definitely covered some territory to find the interesting angles.

I never noticed until now how the inverted triangles of the crown actually recess in at the bottom. I always thought the glass was flush all over.

I thought it was flush too, judging from the renderings. It still looks great, though.
SoonerBoy18 02-27-2012, 11:43 PM Are those lights on in the Chase building or window shades?
ChaseDweller 02-28-2012, 10:46 AM I believe those are windows that have been tinted with film reflecting light back.

SoonerBoy18 02-29-2012, 01:07 PM over 24 hours of no Devon updates? Did I miss something?? :-(
over 24 hours of no Devon updates? Did I miss something?? :-(
Nothing to really update. LOL
We need new photos of all the work at ground level.
I'm sure much has changed in the last week as they are rushing to be open in just a couple of weeks.
UnFrSaKn 02-29-2012, 03:17 PM Things have come full circle on the webcam.
SWOkie66 02-29-2012, 04:55 PM (sung to the tune of Red Solo Cup)
Little white van
I am a fan
Let's see the webcam, let's see the webcam!
I love you little white van
You're dear to this man
You're back on webcam, you're back on webcam!
Sorry, but I was bored...lol.

That's actually pretty creative.. Unfortunately I'm now going to have Red Solo Cup stuck in my head, lol... ;-)
SWOkie66 02-29-2012, 05:00 PM Well, since there were no updates, I thought I'd pay homage to the fact that the white van is back on the webcam. It's been over a year and I know some are nostalgic about it.
twade 02-29-2012, 06:30 PM It's so strange to think back to how "exciting" it was to see columns going up for the parking garage expansion. Given the scale of this project, it's amazing how quickly it all came together.
SoonerBoy18 02-29-2012, 06:58 PM Nothing to really update. LOL

Milan 03-01-2012, 10:35 AM why do the city place tower and the first national center look so short when the first national center is actually taller than the chase if you include the antenna? The city place tower is 134 meters tall and devons tower is 258 meters but yet devon looks way more than twice as tall as city place.
Just the facts 03-01-2012, 10:38 AM It is because only 20% of City Place and FNC stick up out of the urban fabric of downtown while nearly 100% of Devon does.
The reason Devon looks so much taller is that in photos or just about any perspective you can't see all the way to the ground.
You aren't seeing the full buildings, you are only seeing the top 2/3rds or so.

even with the antenna it is shorter than Cotter (chase) 493 to 500

You're forgetting the earth isn't flat, there are decent elevation changes downtown depending on the block too.
UnFrSaKn 03-01-2012, 12:22 PM Most of the northern half of downtown slopes downhill towards the south.
Urbanized 03-01-2012, 02:52 PM Chase (Cotter, whatever) is also much closer to the camera in all of those photos. Vanishing perspective is tricking your eye.
Teo9969 03-01-2012, 03:17 PM Anybody else notice that the banner finally reflects a mostly completed Devon Tower?
Pete, any way you could post the past banners chronologically since the announcement?
Will did that new banner and has been doing them for the last couple of years.
kevinpate 03-01-2012, 03:26 PM Glad y'all said something. My cache was still feeding me an old banner.
Urbanized 03-01-2012, 03:26 PM Mine too!

I noticed earlier today but didn't mention, in case I was late to the party.
UnFrSaKn 03-01-2012, 04:50 PM Let is be a surprise this time....
I just shot over 250 photos at the construction site... look for it soon.
Can't wait Will!
And thanks again for the banners over the years.
UnFrSaKn 03-01-2012, 05:03 PM By the way, they've started on the decorative wall at the entrance that will probably have the Devon Energy name and logo on it.

Milan 03-01-2012, 05:44 PM even with the antenna it is shorter than Cotter (chase) 493 to 500
According to skyscraperpage.com the First National center is 168.5 meters with antenna and chase is 152.4 meters.

Since you ask—I've always liked the unhighlighted text, so a hybrid of the two banners would be my personal choice.

Ditto. Never really liked the highlighted text.
BoulderSooner 03-02-2012, 07:14 AM According to skyscraperpage.com the First National center is 168.5 meters with antenna and chase is 152.4 meters.
i do not think this is true .. FNC is not 553 with the needle
G.Walker 03-02-2012, 10:53 AM we should change the banner up, how about a night shot of skyline, instead of a day shot?
OKCisOK4me 03-02-2012, 10:58 AM "Anyone want to go back to the last one?"
You know, when the tower is finished, the ultimate banner will be a late evening shot with the tower lit up.
UnFrSaKn 03-02-2012, 05:36 PM Took over 300 photos earlier...
300 today Will?
Bring 'em!
UnFrSaKn 03-02-2012, 05:45 PM All over of course... Can't help myself.
SoonerAce311 03-02-2012, 06:10 PM hell yeah buddy! finally! looks great!
shawnw 03-02-2012, 06:12 PM Wasn't able to get a pic (and can't see it from my vantage point), but it looked as though the utility crane was extended and in use while I was driving home from work. Anybody else catch that? Or was something else going on?
SoonerAce311 03-02-2012, 06:26 PM i totally agree. i'm always comparing heights and i've seen the shot on the old I-40 on the wide side shot right by the chesapeake energy arena where you get a true height side by side and chase is just a touch taller. my info that i researched was skyscrapers on wikipedia and it gave FNC's height without the antenna at 446 ft, and with antenna at 496 ft, and i'm telling you that is the most accurate info i've seen with actually comparing it and being out there and seeing it over and over
UnFrSaKn 03-02-2012, 06:29 PM Yeah the utility crane was up and guys were cleaning windows. They weren't doing it very long.
Will just uploaded hundreds of pics to his Flickr account.
This one makes us look like the City of the Future:
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7038/6801843562_8488b3d069_b.jpg
This entrance is going to be stunning as you approach from the Myriad Gardens:
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7195/6801842632_c9af182f32_b.jpg
Lots going on here... But notice the lighting fixtures inside on the ground floor; that's the food court:

Milan 03-02-2012, 09:21 PM Great pictures Pete! The tower looks amazing! Can not wait till it opens!
Will Hider (unfrsakn) took all these... I'm just linking them from his Flickr account.

OKCisOK4me 03-02-2012, 09:34 PM Is Will a little person?! He's standing on top of the light fixture, lol
edcrunk 03-02-2012, 09:50 PM It does sorta look like that... hah. I was actually about to take a pic of kristen when I thought I spotted Will and wasn't working with much time to frame up my pic of him snapping a pic. He was in and out and then gone.
UnFrSaKn 03-03-2012, 03:14 AM I was in the middle of creating a new set on Flickr....then passed out. Just woke up at 3am to get ready for work.... thanks for linking the pics Pete. I'll share the rest when I can.
Yep that's me... I lost my good pair of sunglasses... They kept falling off my head when I was doing those first vertical shots. Hooked them on a jacket pocket. I literally walked everywhere. Up on parking garages, up elevators on both garages... didn't notice they fell off until I was leaving. Oh well.
I'm 5'10''.
Thundercitizen 03-03-2012, 03:16 AM You've been working your glasses off. Thanks, Will.
UnFrSaKn 03-03-2012, 03:23 AM Here's the Set of just Devon construction. I went all over and took some of a lot of things from that area, all the way over to SandRidge.
