Great picture. For some reason it makes me think of the ship at the beginning of Godzilla.

MDot 12-02-2011, 06:25 PM Great picture. For some reason it makes me think of the ship at the beginning of Godzilla. OKCisOK4me 12-02-2011, 06:26 PM If you don't mind, I'm going to upload that to Facebook. OKCMacGruber 12-02-2011, 06:33 PM Go right ahead. Pete 12-02-2011, 06:43 PM My understanding is that they are working on getting the first 30 floors operational in a basic way and they will completely de-bug and do all the complex programming only after all the lighting has been installed in the crown. MDot 12-02-2011, 07:05 PM Do you know when the lights for the crown will be installed? Pete 12-02-2011, 07:17 PM The lighting in the crown can't be completed until all the windows are in and the structure is largely finished off. I would guess 2-3 more months, then it's going to take some time to test, de-bug and program. MDot 12-02-2011, 07:24 PM That's pretty reasonable IMO. Thank you. I would guess 2-3 more months, then it's going to take some time to test, de-bug and program.Good. More than enough time for ESPN, or whomever, to capture it during the 2012 NBA playoffs. Dustin 12-02-2011, 10:12 PM Are they going to have a lighting ceremony for the tower? Just the facts 12-03-2011, 07:56 AM I love all the led lighting. It will make the area very visually stimulating. Downtown will look alive even if you are the only person there which will improve actual and perceived safety, which in turn will foster more pedestrians. UrbanNebraska 12-03-2011, 09:53 PM I just saw a really really cool Durant commercial that really showed off Devon. ljbab728 12-03-2011, 10:46 PM I just saw a really really cool Durant commercial that really showed off Devon. Yes, we're familiar with it. Check out post number 8299. It's also been in other threads here. mmonroe 12-03-2011, 11:13 PM [removed] Pete 12-04-2011, 09:48 AM It's possible we may see a holiday light display from Devon Tower, at least in a limited way. Richard at Remax 12-04-2011, 01:35 PM Went to the barons game on friday night, it was too foggy to take a picture but they were testing the lights in the SE "groove" like it shows in the picture on last page. Looked good UnFrSaKn 12-04-2011, 11:21 PM Just noticed something when I went to tag where this video was taken in Google. They've updated their maps with Devon Tower. Not sure what the date is on it though, but you can see the top of the roof. Looks a lot better if you use the Google Earth option. Myriad Gardens looks amazingly different. http://bit.ly/vwekjg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0igJ-cmuN7Y jn1780 12-04-2011, 11:30 PM Just noticed something when I went to tag where this video was taken in Google. Urbanized 12-05-2011, 01:54 PM What's crazy is if you zoom in on that link, as you get to the higher magnification views it replaces the near-current satellite view with a view of the gardens and Devon site PRE-construction of any kind. It's a really weird before/after effect. At least it happened that way in my browser. Pete 12-05-2011, 04:25 PM Let's please get off this subject... The cross thing has been discussed many times and is way off topic here. ljbab728 12-05-2011, 11:39 PM What's crazy is if you zoom in on that link, as you get to the higher magnification views it replaces the near-current satellite view with a view of the gardens and Devon site PRE-construction of any kind. It's a really weird before/after effect. At least it happened that way in my browser. I've seen the same thing happen in other locations. It must mean that they aren't totally finished in their updates or that they have a flaw in their system. holm1231 12-06-2011, 01:38 PM From that video, it proves that the light reflection we saw off the devon tower was, indeed, the giant video screen from the arena. go to the video where it is completely dark and look how the buildings keep getting lighter and darker. I can't believe that the video screen light can reflect to the buildings and all the way back to this persons camera MDot 12-06-2011, 02:01 PM From that video, it proves that the light reflection we saw off the devon tower was, indeed, the giant video screen from the arena. go to the video where it is completely dark and look how the buildings keep getting lighter and darker. UnFrSaKn 12-06-2011, 03:43 PM I noticed these things and wondered if anyone would too if I didn't point it out. Pete 12-06-2011, 03:47 PM William, it's not that we don't appreciate everything you've already done... But how about some new video??? Much has changed, particularly at ground level. UnFrSaKn 12-06-2011, 04:46 PM Working half the day with Frontline to move into the new building takes up my one whole day off. Been doing that since early October. Oh... and it's cold. Milan 12-07-2011, 09:08 PM Does anybody think okc will get a new skyscraper shortly aftrer the devon? dmoor82 12-07-2011, 09:19 PM ^^maybe within 5-10 years maybe? Thunder 12-07-2011, 09:28 PM Does anybody think okc will get a new skyscraper shortly aftrer the devon? I would say within a year or two, someone will unveil a surprise. It will be when we least expect it just like Devon shocked us all. Keep watch on all of OKC town meeting or whatever it is where Devon dropped the bomb. There was rumor going around months ago with Dolsee or Flintco workers saying another monster tower is coming soon after completion of Devon. MDot 12-07-2011, 09:32 PM Wasn't there a rumor that American Fidelity was going to build a new skyscraper that arose around the same time as the rumor of Devon possibly wanting to build? Pete 12-07-2011, 10:47 PM There was talk about American Fidelity possibly building in the Core to Shore area but nothing has ever come of it. I have high hope that more towers will quicky arise within our lifetime. :-) Sandridge announced awhile back they were going to build possibly a 30-story tower downtown. Teo9969 12-08-2011, 12:28 PM Sandridge announced awhile back they were going to build possibly a 30-story tower downtown. What does the average 30-story tower translate to in terms of height? Bellaboo 12-08-2011, 12:29 PM I'd guess 400 to 500 ft. Teo9969 12-08-2011, 12:34 PM That would be nice. But I kinda wish that they would wait until they can build a 40+ story tower that's 600 - 650 feet. SSEiYah 12-08-2011, 01:28 PM They are sure taking their sweet time on the crown. Pete 12-08-2011, 01:35 PM Yes, the crown progress has been glacial but I think they are really going to town with the rest of the complex: Removing the construction elevators and sealing up those windows Finishing the rotunda (looking close to done) Close to finishing the auditorium and Garden Wing Installing walkway to connect with the Underground system Finishing the LED lighting system Interior finishes in lobby and about the first 20 floors Connection with Colcord is making good progress Have already started planting trees in park area I think they are focusing on the lower floors and common areas so they can get the first group of employees moved in sooner rather than later and cease paying rent all over downtown. Then, with time, they can finish the very top floors and move everyone else over from the building they are selling to Continental. They had said they hope to get the first employees in by March... That's only a few months away! But construction will continue until 2013. Bellaboo 12-08-2011, 01:55 PM I kind of wondered if they would have the garden wing completed first and that the employees for March of 2012 would go there. That way, they wouldn't be working in a construction zone. BoulderSooner 12-08-2011, 02:21 PM I kind of wondered if they would have the garden wing completed first and that the employees for March of 2012 would go there. A lot of the details are coming together down there and we haven't had new photos in a while. MDot 12-08-2011, 04:31 PM I just drove by on I-40 and they almost have the construction elevators completely down. UnFrSaKn 12-08-2011, 06:03 PM Patience... MDot 12-08-2011, 06:05 PM Patience... The average number of image-taking enabled devices in our generation's house is two. Thousands of people hit downtown every day and narry a snapshot?
