My understanding is that they are working on getting the first 30 floors operational in a basic way and they will completely de-bug and do all the complex programming only after all the lighting has been installed in the crown.

I would guess 2-3 more months, then it's going to take some time to test, de-bug and program.

I love all the led lighting. It will make the area very visually stimulating. Downtown will look alive even if you are the only person there which will improve actual and perceived safety, which in turn will foster more pedestrians.

Went to the barons game on friday night, it was too foggy to take a picture but they were testing the lights in the SE "groove" like it shows in the picture on last page. Looked good

Just noticed something when I went to tag where this video was taken in Google. They've updated their maps with Devon Tower. Not sure what the date is on it though, but you can see the top of the roof. Looks a lot better if you use the Google Earth option. Myriad Gardens looks amazingly different.

What's crazy is if you zoom in on that link, as you get to the higher magnification views it replaces the near-current satellite view with a view of the gardens and Devon site PRE-construction of any kind. It's a really weird before/after effect. At least it happened that way in my browser.

I've seen the same thing happen in other locations. It must mean that they aren't totally finished in their updates or that they have a flaw in their system.

From that video, it proves that the light reflection we saw off the devon tower was, indeed, the giant video screen from the arena. go to the video where it is completely dark and look how the buildings keep getting lighter and darker. I can't believe that the video screen light can reflect to the buildings and all the way back to this persons camera

You can see the reflection on the Oklahoma Tower as well.

I would say within a year or two, someone will unveil a surprise. It will be when we least expect it just like Devon shocked us all. Keep watch on all of OKC town meeting or whatever it is where Devon dropped the bomb. There was rumor going around months ago with Dolsee or Flintco workers saying another monster tower is coming soon after completion of Devon.

Don't give up hope. We got the new I-40, bird bridge, central park, enhanced blvd, aggressive beautifications, and the biggest boost from Devon. I have high hope that more towers will quicky arise within our lifetime. :-)

What does the average 30-story tower translate to in terms of height?

I'd guess 400 to 500 ft.

That would be nice. But I kinda wish that they would wait until they can build a 40+ story tower that's 600 - 650 feet.

They are sure taking their sweet time on the crown.

Yes, the crown progress has been glacial but I think they are really going to town with the rest of the complex:


Removing the construction elevators and sealing up those windows
Finishing the rotunda (looking close to done)
Close to finishing the auditorium and Garden Wing
Installing walkway to connect with the Underground system
Finishing the LED lighting system
Interior finishes in lobby and about the first 20 floors
Connection with Colcord is making good progress
Have already started planting trees in park area


I think they are focusing on the lower floors and common areas so they can get the first group of employees moved in sooner rather than later and cease paying rent all over downtown. Then, with time, they can finish the very top floors and move everyone else over from the building they are selling to Continental.

They had said they hope to get the first employees in by March... That's only a few months away! But construction will continue until 2013.

very little of the garden wing is employee offices ... most of it is meeting space / food area .. the march 2012 emplyoees will be moving into the bottom floors of the tower

A lot of the details are coming together down there and we haven't had new photos in a while.

I really like the way the rotunda looks now, much more transparent and there will be a lot more light when they take the cover off the top.

And in that last photo you can see the connection to the Colcord starting to take shape.

It's interesting on the last picture how the concrete pillar curves in at the top and the steel pillar above that seems to curve back out and then in again.

I've noticed that too when driving by and in pictures I've taken. Interesting feature!
