earlywinegareth 08-24-2011, 09:50 PM Dudes, wait til the tower opens, I'm willing to bet Devon will have an extended open house for people wanting that magnificent view. Thunder 08-24-2011, 10:09 PM I don't know about the Devon site, but any other construction site you can walk anywhere as long as you wear a yellow vest, safety glasses, and a hard hat. No one would stop you if you acted like you belong there. Not that you should do it. LOL I will try doing that. You may see me on KFOR and KOCO if I'm caught. Just the facts 08-24-2011, 10:21 PM I don't know about the Devon site, but any other construction site you can walk anywhere as long as you wear a yellow vest, safety glasses, and a hard hat. No one would stop you if you acted like you belong there. Not that you should do it. LOL Based on past experience, you can lug around a parachute as well. jn1780 08-24-2011, 10:28 PM Based on past experience, you can lug around a parachute as well. To be fair that was in the middle of the night. How can we expect the security guard to get off the internet or stop watching his movie and chase after them? mcca7596 08-24-2011, 11:08 PM Seeing ariel views like that shows you how much infill OKC needs Exactly! I was going to say, looking at the Bricktown picture, "How can someone say there is a parking problem in Bricktown!?" Plenty of open space. mburlison 08-24-2011, 11:38 PM I don't know about the Devon site, but any other construction site you can walk anywhere as long as you wear a yellow vest, safety glasses, and a hard hat. No one would stop you if you acted like you belong there. Not that you should do it. LOL Grab a mop and a bucket and doors will open.... ;) BG918 08-25-2011, 09:28 AM Awesome shots. Too bad it was so hazy and was taken when everything is brown-ish. Yeah...you can really see how the heat and drought has taken a toll on the city and surrounding landscape. It also becomes evident how many parking lots and just vacant lots there are in the inner city. Everyone will be able to take these same shots after the restaurant opens in early 2013. An early evening dinner with a storm rolling in from the west would be pretty awesome. I was told there have been times when it was raining at street level and not at the top of the tower, and that it can be 10 degrees cooler at the top. kevinpate 08-25-2011, 11:52 AM Very nice pics. Haze to be sure, but I am actually impressed by just how much green still exists despite the recent rash of green killing weather. pickles 08-25-2011, 12:24 PM Just look at all that beautiful surface parking. mrktguy29 08-25-2011, 01:12 PM Loving the photos! Really makes me wish I had a connection to get a tour! Time to call up Larry and pull some strings! bluedogok 08-25-2011, 08:43 PM I was told there have been times when it was raining at street level and not at the top of the tower, and that it can be 10 degrees cooler at the top. I have seen that before on the observation deck of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. When I lived in Dallas I worked at 2001 Bryan Tower on the 27th floor (40 floors) and we could see snow at our level but by the time it hit the ground it was drizzle. dankrutka 08-25-2011, 09:52 PM With the latest steel going up has Devon reached it's full height? OKCisOK4me 08-25-2011, 10:09 PM Yes rcjunkie 08-26-2011, 04:21 AM Just look at all that beautiful surface parking. I know, how terrible that a thriving downtown requires parking for employees and visitors. They should stop all construction and immediately begin to wipe out all of Downtown/Bricktown and order 20,000 trees and truck loads of new sod. Just the facts 08-26-2011, 08:03 AM I know, how terrible that a thriving downtown requires parking for employees and visitors. They should stop all construction and immediately begin to wipe out all of Downtown/Bricktown and order 20,000 trees and truck loads of new sod. You really don't get it do you. zrfdude 08-26-2011, 08:16 AM I know, how terrible that a thriving downtown requires parking for employees and visitors. They should stop all construction and immediately begin to wipe out all of Downtown/Bricktown and order 20,000 trees and truck loads of new sod. Adjectives are words that describe or modify another person or thing in the sentence, e.g., "Just look at all that beautiful surface parking." metro 08-26-2011, 09:41 AM Took this 5 minutes ago out my office window. It's on my iPad2 which has no zoom and poor camera resolution, but it doesn't do the view justice. From this angle, the crown really makes sense and the building is starting to look like the model and renderings. I'll have to bring my DSLR on Monday to show what I mean. http://i980.photobucket.com/albums/ae288/snewlon/devon.jpg DelCamino 08-26-2011, 10:19 AM From Thursday afternoon, Aug. 25. Kinda like the acronym TGINF, which stands for Thank God Its Nitpicking Friday ;-) UnFrSaKn 08-26-2011, 10:50 AM Have no fear, I'll be back in town in a few hours. I'll get some shots if it's not cloudy. The only thing I can see from him is when others reply from his posts. Like Bluedogok post #7399. I see BG918 "I Got connections" reply with Quote on bluedogok's post. Thunder 08-26-2011, 02:29 PM Pete, are there some posts that you deleted? cause it seems like I am not being able to see any posts by a BG918. He had to remove his own pictures, because a company working construction demanded him to remove his pictures even though he have full ownership of his pictures. Sad, eh? If I was told to remove my pictures by Devon or construction company, I would sue. holm1231 08-26-2011, 02:30 PM I am not seeing any ariel view pictures!! from anyone. What the hell is going on? THat sucks, unless he works for the companies, otherwise they can suck it!!! kevinpate 08-26-2011, 02:33 PM Perhaps, as a matter of courtesy to a fellow member, just letting it go as one of those things that happens might be a sound approach? Skyline 08-26-2011, 02:35 PM They were incredible while they lasted. It is a shame if you didn't get to see them they were spectacular views to say the least. Thunder 08-26-2011, 02:41 PM We got them saved. Just post them somewhere and pass around privately or go on the national skyscraper forums. UnFrSaKn 08-26-2011, 03:27 PM No video today. Too hot. What a welcome reminder I'm back home. Sweating through my clothes twenty minutes after leaving the terminal. I did go by on I-40. A lot of progress while I've been gone. BTW, I shot some video of the tower coming into the airport from Denver. Looked pretty amazing. OKCisOK4me 08-26-2011, 03:49 PM Well, thank (Creator) I saved the ones I like before they had to be taken down! MadMonk 08-26-2011, 04:37 PM Too bad they had to be taken down. But better than possibly having someone lose their job over it (his connection). SoonerAce311 08-26-2011, 07:16 PM uh bcjunkie, what the heck are you talking about there buddy? SoonerAce311 08-26-2011, 07:17 PM Awesome UnFrSaKn!! can't wait to see them! (the video and pics coming in from Denver, that ought to be sweet) zrfdude 08-27-2011, 03:56 AM Kinda like the acronym TGINF, which stands for Thank God Its Nitpicking Friday ;-) Not nitpicking, just trying to emphasize the part of pickles' comment that rc didn't seem to understand. It's pretty clear that pickles' problem is not with parking, but rather having giant lots instead of something lake a garage that utilizes space in a more efficient way. OKCisOK4me 08-27-2011, 09:42 AM Not nitpicking, just trying to emphasize the part of pickles' comment that rc didn't seem to understand. No, I get your drift...don't worry. You're new. There's a difference between reading posts and actually responding. There's a fine line of sarcasm on this site, hence my winking Smiley face. ;-) geterdone 08-27-2011, 05:11 PM Typical corporate BS. Hopefully companies will eventually get rid of that philosophy, maybe our economy will come back. And no I am not talking about Devon. okcpulse 08-27-2011, 08:17 PM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBQHwiWeDx4 Timelapse of daily snapshots to date... kinggober 08-27-2011, 10:39 PM Awesome timelapse okcpulse! Here are a few pics from this evening. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-u-7Duzu2qW0/Tlm3Ue9Dc8I/AAAAAAAAAJo/xRULdvcAcL4/s512/IMG_6519.JPG https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-1RjDyM3XdlE/Tlm3Uda6n3I/AAAAAAAAAJs/uvhx8gljSyo/s512/IMG_6521.JPG https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-mvNn4a1vQOM/Tlm3WOUGuiI/AAAAAAAAAKM/Iz_C6uIY9q4/s512/IMG_6529.JPG SkyWestOKC 08-27-2011, 10:40 PM Awesome pics kinggober! Thanks for the slideshow okcpulse, really amazing how fast this project has moved! SoonerAce311 08-28-2011, 01:55 PM holy cow! excellent pictures kinggober! whoo hoo it is looking so good! you can now see how it comes together from the 47-50th floor and now the new crown. i went down there after work on friday and did my routine shots eastbound on 1-40 then back westbound, and even all the way down to 1-240 and that whole upper half of that west side still wasn't there yet, so that just happened saturday. its very impressive. they even solved this question i had about the highest level, it just didn't look even, but now with all the angles and slants that are going on, you can see in the latest pictures how they have the little ballpoints on the very top with that slight extension that completes the crown and evens out the levels. SoonerAce311 08-28-2011, 01:58 PM its really cool to see this coming together in real life and actually looking just like that one computer shot that we have here on the google site under images SkyWestOKC 08-28-2011, 02:01 PM Anyone know why on the 46th and 45th levels (in kinggober's last shot above), the floorplates in the indentation are not the same as the other ones? Pete 08-28-2011, 02:11 PM Perhaps for open staircases between those floors? dmoor82 08-28-2011, 07:43 PM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7V6NIre7K3s&feature=player_detailpage Anyone ever seen the light show sidewalks? This is the first time I've even heard about it! dmoor82 08-28-2011, 07:45 PM ^^So we have the neon and LED on the Oklahoma river and now we have LED light shows at the Crystal Bridge and sidewalks and soon to be Devon tower! Is OKC trying to emulate some Asian cities? Architect2010 08-28-2011, 08:48 PM I dunno, but that sidewalk is neat! I didn't know about it either. Dulahey 08-28-2011, 08:59 PM http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p314/Dulahey/Devon%20Tower/IMG_2297.jpg Here's the latest picture from my spot. Slideshow of previous months here (http://s131.photobucket.com/albums/p314/Dulahey/Devon%20Tower/?albumview=slideshow) Thundercitizen 08-28-2011, 09:47 PM Here's the latest picture from my spot. Wow. Those first LEDs at the bottom are dang bright. Nice catch. USG'60 08-28-2011, 10:05 PM It looks like the moment of blast off. Just the facts 08-28-2011, 10:22 PM ^^So we have the neon and LED on the Oklahoma river and now we have LED light shows at the Crystal Bridge and sidewalks and soon to be Devon tower! Is OKC trying to emulate some Asian cities? I hope so. dankrutka 08-28-2011, 10:28 PM http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p314/Dulahey/Devon%20Tower/IMG_2297.jpg Here's the latest picture from my spot. Slideshow of previous months here (http://s131.photobucket.com/albums/p314/Dulahey/Devon%20Tower/?albumview=slideshow) That is one of the best angles for downtown because Devon doesn't completely dwarf everything else. ZYX2 08-28-2011, 11:06 PM Wow. Those first LEDs at the bottom are dang bright. Nice catch. You're not seriou are you? Awesome pic Dulahey. ZYX2 08-28-2011, 11:10 PM I hope so. Be careful what you wish for, can you imagine trying to sleep with all those lights just outside your window? I like all the types of lights there are so far in OKC, but too much light pollution will kill downtown residential. ON TOPIC: Are we even sure that the Devon Tower will have lighting? dankrutka 08-28-2011, 11:12 PM Yes. Devon will have LED lighting in the three indented areas (Sorry... couldn't think of a better way to word that). Dustin 08-28-2011, 11:24 PM Didn't someone post a photo on here a long time ago that showed them testing the LED's on the panels that weren't in the indentions? shawnw 08-28-2011, 11:56 PM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7V6NIre7K3s&feature=player_detailpage This is unrelated to the sidewalks... Does anyone know why the windows seem to be clear on 4-5 lower levels while they appear to be a blue tint for the rest of levels? I have pictures of this myself and have been meaning to post the question, but the thumbnail for this video shows it well enough and reminded me to ask... Apologies if this has been asked. dankrutka 08-29-2011, 12:33 AM I think it's just a perspective thing. I'm pretty sure all the glass is the same, but appears different from different angles. That's my best guess... Thunder 08-29-2011, 12:35 AM I think it's just a perspective thing. I'm pretty sure all the glass is the same, but appears different from different angles. That's my beat guess... Incorrect. The glass on the Rotunda are more clear than the tower. Its just the reflection of the surrounding glasses that makes the glasses on the Rotunda appear the same. mrktguy29 08-29-2011, 12:36 AM It is a different type of lighting. I noticed it one night I was in the area. The lower levers that appear brighter are floors that have been built out and fitted with regular lights. The larger lights are more for construction purposes. shawnw 08-29-2011, 12:54 AM I think it's just a perspective thing. I'm pretty sure all the glass is the same, but appears different from different angles. That's my beat guess... I really don't think it's a perception thing. Here's a pic I took on Thursday (8/25) night. There are clearly four "white light" floors at the bottom with a "blue light" floor sandwiched in between two "white light" floors, and the rest of the building is "blue light". Maybe it's the different lighting... BTW Thunder, was talking about the building proper not the rotunda. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-uuZpBQL89FU/TlsolLUaiCI/AAAAAAAAODA/L1ej1KE13zs/s640/IMG_1551-resized.jpg |
