Dudes, wait til the tower opens, I'm willing to bet Devon will have an extended open house for people wanting that magnificent view.

I don't know about the Devon site, but any other construction site you can walk anywhere as long as you wear a yellow vest, safety glasses, and a hard hat. No one would stop you if you acted like you belong there. Not that you should do it. LOL

I will try doing that. You may see me on KFOR and KOCO if I'm caught.

To be fair that was in the middle of the night. How can we expect the security guard to get off the internet or stop watching his movie and chase after them?

Seeing ariel views like that shows you how much infill OKC needs

Exactly! I was going to say, looking at the Bricktown picture, "How can someone say there is a parking problem in Bricktown!?" Plenty of open space.

Awesome shots. Too bad it was so hazy and was taken when everything is brown-ish.

Yeah...you can really see how the heat and drought has taken a toll on the city and surrounding landscape. It also becomes evident how many parking lots and just vacant lots there are in the inner city.

Everyone will be able to take these same shots after the restaurant opens in early 2013. An early evening dinner with a storm rolling in from the west would be pretty awesome.

I was told there have been times when it was raining at street level and not at the top of the tower, and that it can be 10 degrees cooler at the top.

Very nice pics. Haze to be sure, but I am actually impressed by just how much green still exists despite the recent rash of green killing weather.

I have seen that before on the observation deck of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.

When I lived in Dallas I worked at 2001 Bryan Tower on the 27th floor (40 floors) and we could see snow at our level but by the time it hit the ground it was drizzle.

I know, how terrible that a thriving downtown requires parking for employees and visitors. They should stop all construction and immediately begin to wipe out all of Downtown/Bricktown and order 20,000 trees and truck loads of new sod.

Took this 5 minutes ago out my office window. It's on my iPad2 which has no zoom and poor camera resolution, but it doesn't do the view justice. From this angle, the crown really makes sense and the building is starting to look like the model and renderings. I'll have to bring my DSLR on Monday to show what I mean.

He had to remove his own pictures, because a company working construction demanded him to remove his pictures even though he have full ownership of his pictures. Sad, eh? If I was told to remove my pictures by Devon or construction company, I would sue.

Not nitpicking, just trying to emphasize the part of pickles' comment that rc didn't seem to understand. It's pretty clear that pickles' problem is not with parking, but rather having giant lots instead of something lake a garage that utilizes space in a more efficient way.

holy cow! excellent pictures kinggober! whoo hoo it is looking so good! you can now see how it comes together from the 47-50th floor and now the new crown. i went down there after work on friday and did my routine shots eastbound on 1-40 then back westbound, and even all the way down to 1-240 and that whole upper half of that west side still wasn't there yet, so that just happened saturday. its very impressive. they even solved this question i had about the highest level, it just didn't look even, but now with all the angles and slants that are going on, you can see in the latest pictures how they have the little ballpoints on the very top with that slight extension that completes the crown and evens out the levels.

Be careful what you wish for, can you imagine trying to sleep with all those lights just outside your window? I like all the types of lights there are so far in OKC, but too much light pollution will kill downtown residential.

ON TOPIC: Are we even sure that the Devon Tower will have lighting?

This is unrelated to the sidewalks... Does anyone know why the windows seem to be clear on 4-5 lower levels while they appear to be a blue tint for the rest of levels? I have pictures of this myself and have been meaning to post the question, but the thumbnail for this video shows it well enough and reminded me to ask...

Apologies if this has been asked.

I think it's just a perspective thing. I'm pretty sure all the glass is the same, but appears different from different angles. That's my best guess...

Incorrect.

The glass on the Rotunda are more clear than the tower. Its just the reflection of the surrounding glasses that makes the glasses on the Rotunda appear the same.

mrktguy29
08-29-2011, 12:36 AM
It is a different type of lighting. I noticed it one night I was in the area. The lower levers that appear brighter are floors that have been built out and fitted with regular lights. The larger lights are more for construction purposes.

I really don't think it's a perception thing. Here's a pic I took on Thursday (8/25) night. There are clearly four "white light" floors at the bottom with a "blue light" floor sandwiched in between two "white light" floors, and the rest of the building is "blue light". Maybe it's the different lighting...

BTW Thunder, was talking about the building proper not the rotunda.
