The real version is much stalkier....the rendering was narrow in comparison.

The view from south Newcastle is getting really impressive. The best way I can describe it is "weird". The tower is so large and you see it from so far away, it just looks weird. Kind of Sci-fi like.

The portion where they are not having windows installed, the work elevators, is it possible that they are planning to put in a glass exterior elevator there for the public use straight up to the restaurants?

i'd guess out west of the city about El Reno...maybe 25 miles? It's flat and open that direction. I haven't driven out that far in awhile.

I noticed tonight that you can see the top of the building and the cranes driving south on Hefner Parkway between 122nd and NW Grand overpass. The perspective seems weird due to the way HP curves around the lake. Also a nice view from I-44 right before May Ave, its only a glimpse when going 60 but a cool view.

From Skyscraperpage -

Nice building. But it sort of reminds me of putting "lipstick on a pig" This city looks so abysmal. Flat, hot, sprawling, no planning...etc, By the way..building 50 story buildings is not the prescription for instigating a healthy vibrant urban environment. How will the all the new workers who work here get here? And how will all the new workers get here from the new development this hopefully spurs? More roads and traffic from the far flung suburbs?..wider freeways? Someone said earlier "it looks good coming in on the freeway"..lol..telling. Also i notice alot of pic snaps from the freeway of the building. Does everyone live in their car here? This country needs to wake up. Sorry,,just my rant. Im guessing OK city is not on the forefront of planned development? Of course im a "snob" from the most planned city in America..lol. Hopefully this will spur some good improvements,,,not just in the immediate area.

I don't spent much time on that forum.

I noticed in this picture that SandRidge, at 393' tall, appears taller than the 440' tall City Place. Is the height for SandRidge correct? Or is the ground that SandRidge sits on approximately 50' higher?

Back to the main topic, how tall is Devon Tower now? :)

Sandridge's base elevation is about 20-30 feet higher than lower downtown. Note that Lower downtown is on the river's flood plain.

The press should never publicize this sort of thing, and especially shouldn't mention names, as often times they are just attention whores.

Just encourages people to do things like this which is a crime and extremely dangerous.

Give me a break. Its called news and like it or not it qualifies. I've never understood that type of short-sighted thinking. But, I'm certain many will share in your view. But hey, I'm just an 'attention whore' myself, so what do I know.

I wonder if these are the same two guys that took the jet ski ride down the Bricktown canal just before it opened. BTW - if you do it at 2:40 AM it is probably more about alcohol and less about attention. Jumping at high noon with a third person filming from the ground and posting video on YouTube would be about attention.

Very good point. Though I doubt alcohol had much to do with it. Most likely adrenaline junkies (cool, but reckless).

I doubt too many alcoholics make it long as BASE jumpers. Look more like unkept thrill seekers.

I'm actually all for this type of thrill seeker - EXCEPT when their hobby puts others in direct risk (which these guys did).

Believe me, attention is the last thing a BASE jumper wants. These two guys are now pariahs in the BASE community for "burning" the site.

Didn't know base jumpers had a grooming code now. Also I imagine they did it early morning as to not get caught versus mid day when workforce is in full force and less likely to sneak on site.

You would think those two elevators would be powered down or locked up. It probably surprised the security officer sitting at his security booth seeing one of the elevators going up the building at 2:30 in the morning.

You are so correct. I have gotten into more places than I can count, that I had not right to enter, by just acting confident, and looking like I knew what I was doing, and looking like I belonged. I would almost guess that with as many people as are working there, a guy with a hardhat and a tool belt could get just about anywhere.
