Right.

The Chickasaws have lobbied hard and managed to get the number of games increased more than once, but no luck with table games.

Stitt will be out in a few years and then maybe we'll see some changes.

If Oklahoma is going to permit gaming/gambling let's go ahead and make this a full pledge casino and allow Remington Park card games--IIRC this would be the Class III classification:

Often called cover games, these include electronic instant bingo, electronic bonanza bingo and electronic amusement games. Players face off against the machine. These games can have large jackpots associated with them.

Table and card games also fall under this category.

It's part of an agreement between the tribes, the horse industry and the state. To add table gaming would require changes to the compacts with the tribes and seeing how Stitt is with the tribes, isn't going to happen.

The Remington raceino has nothing to do with compacts or really the tribe (other the. The tribe now owns Remington)

The racino model was passed as state law to help the horse industry survive

The compact actually has a huge impact on Remington Park. The compact allows the tribes to have exclusive rights to card games, and it also limits the number of slot machines at Remington to 750 games. There was a hope back when the compact was up for renewal a few years ago, that Remington would be allowed to expand to at least 1250 games. Those additional games would have led to a significant expansion of the grandstand building and the construction of a higher-end hotel. Unfortunately, the governor got into a dispute with the tribes and it turned the renewal into a battle just to maintain the status quo. Hopefully down the road, cooler heads will prevail.
