View Full Version : Castle Falls
metro 08-27-2009, 09:24 AM I ate there last week for a work event. The landscaping is very nice and the building is definitely unique. The interior was a little outdated. Staff was very helpful and friendly. We had a set menu so for apps we had different types of wurst's and a buttery herby shrimp. It was pretty good. For the main course we had Jaeger (hunter) Steak which is a Ribeye with a rich mushroom, onion, peppercorn sauce. We also had paprika chicken (which was good but I thought was a little odd given the flavor of paprika with the rest of the food). For a side we had green beans and German Noodles. I enjoyed the German noodles, the green beans were nothing special. For dessert was a triple chocolate cake, the hostess had talked it up pretty good, but wasn't very good at all. All in all, I'd definitely go to Castle Falls at least once if for nothing else, the experience. It would be a beautiful place for a wedding. The food was okay, for the price you can definitely get better in this city, but the ambiance is part of it, I get that.
I will be back with my wife on our own that way we can explore the menu a little more.

OKCisOK4me 08-27-2009, 09:31 AM It is a beautiful place for a wedding. My friend got married there back in '07. Of course, then, they were still working on their other building where they now host receptions and the like so regular customers can still eat in the house.
Did you get to go downstairs to their little bar area? Pretty cool looking.
metro 08-27-2009, 11:29 AM Yeah, I wasn't impressed with the downstairs in the least bit, it was the most "outdated" part I was mentioning. I get the European theme, but it wasn't European in the least bit, just outdated and dingy looking.
The events center and outdoor seating areas are very nice.
OKCisOK4me 08-27-2009, 11:49 AM I don't know. Maybe I just liked it because all the alcohol at this wedding I was an usher in, was free, lol!
dismayed 08-28-2009, 08:52 PM Anyone know why it has changed names?
MsDarkstar 08-28-2009, 09:36 PM New ownership = new name. Keller in the Kastle was purchased in 2004 & the new owners decided to make improvements & make it more of an events center. With that came a new name.
bluedogok 08-28-2009, 09:56 PM Good food, we ate there last fall when we were in town for the Tech game. It pretty much looked like any other old family style German restaurant that I have been in.

Gotcha. Are reservations required now, or can folks still show up unannounced and get a table for dinner?
kevinpate 08-29-2009, 05:51 AM their website says reservations are required from one guest and up. Also says guests should plan on dinner being a two hour or more experience. Thumbs up on not focusing on turning the table.

Has anybody been to this place? Never heard of it till this came out.
Bill Robertson 01-30-2015, 08:45 AM I have driven by the place for years and just never thought of going. Then we were given a $100 gift certificate and used it right before Christmas. The cozy atmosphere is incredible. It's almost like you're in a private area and the server is yours and yours only. The food was also very, very good. Not cheap. Two steak dinners and a bottle of wine used up the $100. But well worth it. Castle Falls will be our special occasion go-to place as long as they are there.
Urbanized 01-30-2015, 08:54 AM Haven't been since it was Keller in the Castle, but the place was lovely then.

My youngest and his dear lass had a special night out here a few weeks back. He said they really enjoyed their evening.
shawnw 01-30-2015, 01:20 PM I took a GF there for V-day a couple years ago. We had an enjoyable time.
RadicalModerate 01-30-2015, 01:42 PM My wife and I went to Castle Falls when it was The Keller in The Kastle. I have to say that all of our experiences there were some of the best dining I've ever done. And romantic? You betcha. Romantic to the max. I was under the impression that Castle Falls was more of a "special events' center than a restaurant . . . (Our waitress, the first time we ate there, was a Molly Murphy's veteran.)
They do a ton of weddings and special events but of course, operate the restaurant on limited hours.
The owner is a classmate of mine and her husband. Great people.
Oh GAWD the Smell! 01-30-2015, 02:36 PM Wife and I went there a year or two ago. It was great. The food was great, the staff was great, the tiny little room we at in was great.
Loved it. Not sure why we haven't been back...

I agree. I used to be in a lunch networking group with Amy and Ralph and enjoyed them a lot.
