Norman does seem to get the excellent eateries! I'll have to try that out for lunch one day.
BG918 08-16-2009, 11:23 AM Iron Starr will be a huge success in Campus Corner. I just hope having both In The Raw and Iron Starr on University leads to more development along that corridor. It has loads of potential.
mugofbeer 08-16-2009, 05:20 PM Will it be anything like Bone Daddy's in Dallas? <smile>
Steve 08-16-2009, 05:40 PM Finally - a great locally owned dining choice on Campus Corner! (Sorry, but O'Connells really nose dived as a restaurant when it moved to Al's spot).
kevinpate 08-16-2009, 09:45 PM Should be just enough to have me enjoying the corner on a regular basis again.
Luck with it tuck.
metro 08-18-2009, 09:14 AM Will it be anything like Bone Daddy's in Dallas? <smile>
Try the one in OKC now and find out for yourself!
Bigrayok 08-18-2009, 11:16 AM I doubt Iron Starr wil be anything like Bone Daddy's except they both have BBQ. Iron Starr's BBQ is much better. For the uninitiated, Bone Daddy's is small chain of BBQ's in Texas that have waitresses dressed very similiar to Hooter's waitresses so I have been told.
Bigray in Ok
I would love it if I could score some Iron Starr ribs and mac and cheese on the street on game days...
SOONER8693 08-21-2009, 04:16 PM Will it be anything like Bone Daddy's in Dallas? <smile>
Doubt it. The eye candy at Bone Daddy's is exceptional, but so is the food.
lasomeday 08-21-2009, 08:53 PM I saw it Wednesday and I can't wait for it to open! I thought it was going to be in next to Cafe Plaid, but it is next to In the Raw, which is a much better location.
BG918 08-22-2009, 02:47 PM I saw it Wednesday and I can't wait for it to open! I thought it was going to be in next to Cafe Plaid, but it is next to In the Raw, which is a much better location.
The Harolds next to Cafe Plaid is a great space too. The views across Boyd of Carpenter and Jacobson Halls with the Union tower behind are awesome. It would be really neat to see a restaurant/bar there that has a rooftop seating area overlooking the campus. If McNellies wasn't already going in on Main this would be a perfect spot.
smack7980 08-24-2009, 10:17 AM Actually its going in the old Harolds corporate office on Asp next to O'connells. Iron Starr is awesome!
king183 08-24-2009, 03:10 PM No, Smack, it's not. Like others said, it's going in on University, next to In the Raw. The old Harold's office is being converted to Chipotle.

Totally agree BG. I wish places other than Seven47 would do rooftop stuff on CC. I realize it's probably very expensive and maybe structurally impossible with those buildings, but it is a concept that would work very, very well on CC.
oknacreous 08-25-2009, 09:43 AM Good choice of location. To me the big draw to Iron Starr in NW OKC is the Co-op and Choc beers on tap. I hope they have those at the Norman location!
Martin 09-03-2009, 09:16 AM looking sharp! -M
john60 09-03-2009, 10:59 AM Still planning to be open by next Sat? Going to be selling sandwiches or anything on the street before the game?
blangtang 09-03-2009, 02:59 PM with the harold's outlet closing and turning into ITR and this place, and with the street-level Boomer Theater turning into the chipotle, who could have known that Harold's bankruptcy filing would have turned out so nicely. Both building look great with the recent exterior paint jobs.
cant wait for the opening!
kevinpate 09-03-2009, 06:27 PM lookin' good tuck, lookin' good. If ya need an extra taster for advance stuff, kick me a pm. I'm proud to sample most any non rabbit food for anyone just about anytime.

Never planned on being open by this Saturday; would have liked to, but it was never in the plans. Looking at first of October. We should be selling sandwiches and beer outside during the 2nd home game.

Spiffy sign! So so so excited about the new location closer to home! Can't wait.
lasomeday 09-05-2009, 11:22 PM I am so excited! I can taste it!
stratosphere 09-22-2009, 06:56 PM i eat at the one in OKC all the time, they have the best mac & cheese on the planet and the club sandwich is the best sandwich in town. Love the ribs too, of course. Will have to try the Norman location sometime...
metro 09-23-2009, 02:29 PM nah, their sister restaurant, Red Prime has the best mac and cheese.
CCOKC 09-24-2009, 01:32 PM They are both the best. Just a matter of what you are in the mood for. BTW, I hear you can get the Red Prime Mac with jalepenos in it if you are in a spicy mood.
blangtang 10-01-2009, 04:11 PM anyone been yet?

kevinpate 10-01-2009, 06:57 PM Once you're older than eight it ought to be impossible to still getting excited about mac and cheese, no matter what goodies get dumped, folded, stirred, blended, whatever into it.
lasomeday 10-01-2009, 08:51 PM I went by there today, and it did not look like it was open. It is still under construction. I think the OU paper sent it out too early.
Opening day will be Tuesday, October 6th. We couldn't be happier to be in Norman and Campus Corner!!
kevinpate 10-02-2009, 10:05 AM Looking forward to Wednesday!
(I'll be out of pocket on Tuesday, dang it.)
Iron Starr Urban BBQ - Norman opening the doors today...come see us!!
oknacreous 10-09-2009, 09:03 AM Went there with a friend last night - great job! Food was good, beer was good, atmosphere was good.
Midtowner 10-09-2009, 10:10 AM Once you're older than eight it ought to be impossible to still getting excited about mac and cheese, no matter what goodies get dumped, folded, stirred, blended, whatever into it.
You clearly haven't had my wife's BLT (bacon tomato and leek) mac & cheese featuring several well blended cheeses.
EdmondBrad 10-09-2009, 10:26 AM The original Iron Starr is my favorite restaurant in OKC....and yes, the mac and cheese is awesome as are the dutch oven potatos. I always get the ribs but for me it is mostly about the sides at Iron Starr.
mheaton76 10-10-2009, 10:42 AM So, I went to the Iron Starr on campus corner this last thursday. I really have to give it two huge thumbs up. The service was really friendly, efficient, and I couldn't tell that they had only been 3 days at that point. I ordered the hickory smoked chicken, with a side of green beans, and a salad.
The chicken was perfect - I have no idea what kind of seasoning they use - but it was very tasty. I was also a huge fan of the green beans - they were fresh and seasoned with fresh garlic. If you're not into strong salad dressings - I wouldn't recommend the house garlic vinagrette, because it is VERY heavy on the garlic. Cornbread, of course, was amazing like the location in OKC.
Great addition to campus corner!
john60 10-10-2009, 10:47 AM $5.95 student lunch special (sandwich, drink, side) is one of the best things ever to hit Norman.
betts 10-10-2009, 11:33 AM Don't forget to try the quail-wrapped jalapenos. I would assume they have them on the menu in Norman. Divine.
For all of the OU Students out there!!

kevinpate 10-14-2009, 06:42 AM Patiently awaits the Alum special
:LolLolLol
bandnerd 10-14-2009, 06:54 AM You clearly haven't had my wife's BLT (bacon tomato and leek) mac & cheese featuring several well blended cheeses.
Aw, shucks, Mid. I didn't think you liked it. It was Gruyere, white 2% cheddar, and Velveeta, for the record...
Yes. Velveeta.
That said, I adore the mac and cheese at Iron Starr. Amazing. I have no shame enjoying it, even though I am an adult. Cheese and pasta just resonates with the human soul.
metro 10-14-2009, 12:26 PM Can't beat the Mac at Iron Starr and especially Red Prime. I also had some outstanding mac somewhere else the other day, but can't remember where.
Wanted to stop by and say "thanks" to everyone who have visited us on Campus Corner. We have just wrapped up our first full month and could not be happier. We're having a great time in Norman....thanks!!
Andrew4OU 11-17-2009, 04:38 PM Ate here last weekend after the A&M game. Good food, great atmosphere, and good service. Will definitely be back, especially for the student special.
metro 01-04-2010, 06:58 PM Iron Starr BBQ will be opening 3rd location in Ford Center by 2010 Thunder season.
OKCMallen 01-05-2010, 09:35 AM Oh man, that's freaking awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ultimatesooner 01-05-2010, 11:04 AM wish they would have chosen a real bbq place for the ford center
with iron star in there, they might as well change it to the saab or audi center
Lord Helmet 01-05-2010, 03:02 PM wish they would have chosen a real bbq place for the ford center
Ummm...Iron Star does have real BBQ...real good BBQ.
OKCMallen 01-05-2010, 03:26 PM wish they would have chosen a real bbq place for the ford center

Dustin 01-05-2010, 03:30 PM Yyyyyyaaaaayyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just started $10 Racks of Ribs at both Iron Starr locations on Sundays!
Dine-in or carry-out.
FlounderinDC 01-14-2010, 03:45 PM The Iron Starr on Campus Corner is great. I have probably been there 15 times since it opened and everytime was great. I've only had one menu item there that was underwhelming...and that was probably just a one-time thing. I love the fact they have Native Amber on tap as well.
This is great. I love that place. If Iron Starr's not real bar-b-que, then I guess I don't want real bar-b-que
441 Great day for the patio at Iron Starr Norman!!
Spartan 04-03-2010, 06:18 PM How was it a great day, it looks empty.
Iron Starr - Campus Corner is excited to partner with The Norman Arts Council. We are giving back 10% of food sales to the Arts for the entire month of May. Look for our team passing out cards at The Norman Music Festival!
soonerfan_in_okc 04-27-2010, 04:29 PM How was it a great day, it looks empty.
it was a great day for the patio because of the weather.
Iron Starr on Campus Corner is now offering FREE valet parking for our guests Tuesday-Sunday, lunch and dinner!
dismayed 11-23-2010, 09:23 PM I did not know that. That is actually a really nice amenity.
