Does anyone know when the episodes filmed in the Oklahoma City area will air? I am particularly interested in the episode about Nic's since I was there the day they filmed.

Mama E's aired last week John1744 08-04-2009, 12:22 AM If you have Cox On Demand you can catch the Mama E's episode under Free HD Food Network. OUman 08-05-2009, 02:23 PM The Norman Diner will also be featured at some point because they did tape a slot for the show over there. DM1031 08-05-2009, 02:44 PM I saw one on Leos BBQ (I think that is the name) can anyone tell me if that place is good, Im in Tulsa and come down there several times a year. traemac 08-05-2009, 03:54 PM I saw one on Leos BBQ (I think that is the name) can anyone tell me if that place is good, Im in Tulsa and come down there several times a year. The strawberry banana cake is amazing, other than that its so so. I would go to Nic's instead Bigrayok 08-05-2009, 03:58 PM Leo's is my favorite BBQ in Oklahoma City, although there are many I like including Oklahoma Station, Earl's, Swadley's, Van's Pig Stand, and Steve's Rib. The Leo's at N.E. 36th and Kelley that was on the show has not been open for two years although I have been told they plan on reopening it. There is a Leo's at N.E. 4th about two blocks east of Broadway next to the new downtown Y.M.C.A. I actually like it better than the original location because it has more room. The food is the same. Bigray in Ok RealJimbo 08-13-2009, 04:44 PM The best BBQ I ever ate, without a doubt, was at Pulliam's BBQ that was on NE 4th just east of Walnut until the late '60's or early '70's. They had the best sauce ever and poured more or less over your ribs, depending on whether you ordered hot or mild. Served on a bread wrapper with two slices of bread, we either took it to go or ate at a counter that wrapped around the inside of the place. There was a water can at the end of the counter by the kitchen door (the door where you went to order) and a pop machine in the middle of the room. Sometime toward the end of the '60's the health department forced them to put in a concrete floor over the dirt and they just poured it around the pop machine. I can still remember the flavor of the sauce! It was soooooo good! Bigrayok 08-17-2009, 03:09 PM Just a little reminder, the Nic's show is on tonight, Monday, August 17 at 9:00 on the Food Network. Bigray in Ok mugofbeer 08-17-2009, 11:47 PM I haven't eaten at Nic's but I saw the show and I am definitely going to try it! dalelakin 08-18-2009, 08:02 AM Great just fabulous as if it wasn't hard enough to get in there before now it will be impossible. That and I hope the idiot that is suing all of the places that appear on this show that are not ADA accessible stays out of Oklahoma. decepticobra 08-18-2009, 08:06 AM I love me some Coits! Best root beer anywhere. Bigrayok 08-20-2009, 04:14 PM I like Coit's also. I get the diet root beer and the hot dogs. They use Schwab's wieners and chili. Good stuff. Bigray in Ok OKCDrummer77 08-29-2009, 09:47 PM I just got back from Eischen's. RedDirt717 08-30-2009, 03:31 PM No Bobo's Chicken? That is maybe the ultimate in cost/benefit dive analysis. The pay off for risking your life is the best fried chicken on the planet. OKCDrummer77 08-30-2009, 07:32 PM How was Okarchefest? It was pretty crowded all around. The inside of Eischen's was so packed that we had our food boxed up and taken to a table in the middle of the street (which was, of course, closed off). Even out there, the live music made conversation difficult, but it was enjoyable. By the time we finished eating, most of the booths were starting to shut down. Because of all the street closings, we had to park a couple of blocks away, in a spot that turned out to be downwind of Eischen's kitchen's exhaust fans, so we could smell the chicken from the moment we opened the car doors. Truth be told, if I had remembered that Okarchefest was going on (having seen a piece about it on Channel 4 Friday night), we probably would have picked a different weekend to go. No regrets, though, as it was an enjoyable evening, and we will definitely be back. RealJimbo 09-11-2009, 04:34 PM I do love me some Eischen's. Don't care what anybody else thinks, the narrow menu is just perfect and the chicken is always awesome! rondvu 09-16-2009, 04:01 PM I drove by Ingrids on NW 36th and they have posted on their marquee See us on Diners, Drive_Ins and Dives. Does anyone know the date? Cindie8696 10-12-2009, 05:32 PM The one with Mama E's will be on again this weekend. I haven't seen it yet so I'll have to DVR it. I've seen several non Oklahoma shows as well. As a too large man finally putting a tad more effort into losing weight, I've discovered vicarious dining is kinda fun so long as I deliberately avoid the fridge and stove for the first hour or so after watching. bluedogok 10-20-2009, 05:30 PM We have made it to a few of the places profiled, we went to Mac and Ernie's in Tarpley (outside Kerrville, Texas) a couple of years before it was profiled on the first show. We took a drive out there this past spring. We also went to the Chef Point Cafe in Bedford area, my sister came down from OKC and we met her there before we went to our cousins show at Billy Bob's that night. With the Houston ones profiled for this season we may have to head down there and try a few. One time when we were back in OKC at Leo's, Charles told us about the show, we have had it on Season Pass ever since. OKCDrummer77 10-27-2009, 08:26 PM For those who missed it the first time (like me), the episode featuring Cattleman's will air again this Friday night at 9. Dustin 01-11-2010, 04:02 AM The Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives episode of Eischens is now up on youtube!!!!!!!! YouTube - Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives: Eischen's Bar (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cad2Gx75R3U) Please, if you've never been to Eischens, GO!!!!! You wont be dissapointed! Dustin 01-12-2010, 10:30 PM Also.... you can view all of the Oklahoma stops on this guys youtube page: YouTube - Eeldarb's Channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/Eeldarb) kevinpate 01-12-2010, 10:36 PM Ok, having watched the D3 for Nic's and Eischen's now, and not having been to either, which has the better chicken? Looks like a toss up to me to be truthful. E gets the history nod, but Nic's is way closer and more convenient, and to me looks as tasty or more so. Opinions? Dustin 01-12-2010, 10:50 PM Well I cant say how good the chicken is at nics because I haven't been, but by the look on Guy's face and his reaction.. I'd say its some purty good chicken!! Winner Winner Chicken Diner!!!!!!! Eischens will be hard to beat! OKCDrummer77 05-03-2010, 06:20 PM The episode featuring Ingrid's Kitchen will air 3 times in the next couple of weeks: Friday, May 7 at 8:30pm and 11:30 pm Sunday, May 16 at 2:30pm OSUMom 05-03-2010, 08:32 PM The Eishen's episode cracked me up. "That's the way we've always done it....". :LolLolLol And who thinks the guy was set up with the lamb fries at Cattlemans? icecold 05-04-2010, 02:02 PM Well I cant say how good the chicken is at nics because I haven't been, but by the look on Guy's face and his reaction.. I'd say its some purty good chicken!! Winner Winner Chicken Diner!!!!!!! Eischens will be hard to beat! I think Nic's is better. And by saying that I am not saying Eischens is bad at all. Can eat Eischens all day long, but just I just think Nic's is a little better. Nic pan fries his chicken old school grandma style. To me it tastes better that way rather than deep fried. Both joints are great but for me Nics is just a little better. FWIW Bigrayok 05-04-2010, 04:34 PM Nic's only serves chicken one day a week on Thursdays. Bigray in Ok |
