At long last, I've finally completed the Reinhart 4-part series with the article focusing on Theresa Reinhart's scrapbook: Doug Dawgz Blog: Reinhart Legacy Part IV ? Theresa's Scrapbook (http://dougdawg.blogspot.com/2009/07/reinhart-legacy-part-4-theresas.html). Part I (http://dougdawg.blogspot.com/2008/05/reinhart-legacy-part-1.html) was the Reinhart Legacy introduction; Part II (http://dougdawg.blogspot.com/2008/05/reinhart-legacy-part-2.html) was Reinhart & Donovan's commercial building legacy; Part III (http://dougdawg.blogspot.com/2009/07/reinhart-legacy-part-iii-churches.html) was the company's church legacy; and Part IV concludes the series.

Theresa was the youngest sister of Martin Reinhart who did so much construction in Oklahoma City ... commercial (part 2) and churches (part 3). Younger sister Theresa kept a scrapbook during 1913-1915 and contained within it was a fascinating (to me, at least) collection of personal and other information, perhaps the most particularly important being the collection of movie and play programs which were glued into the scrapbook. So, in this article, I'm trying to transport you back to 1913-1915 to see parts of the city through the eyes of a 14-16 year old teenager -- of course, that would be through the eyes of at least a relatively well-to-do family. For completeness, after the scrapbook, a glimpse of her adult life is presented, also.

So, this article is more "personal" than most that I do. Her contributions to history largely come from her scrapbook, which Norman Thompson was kind enough to allow me to scan two years ago.

Here are a few of the items -- click on the items for larger views.

The 1st home at 1100 W. 13th - it is a vacant lot today, about a block west of Classen

It was at the above home that Theresa made her scrapbook. Around 1918, the family moved to 515 N. 13th but she would have been 20 by then and in college at OU (she was the 1st woman to receive an engineering degree at OU).

The 2nd home at 515 W. 13th (the NW designation didn't come until later) - Elaine Schuster owns the property today and she allowed me to take some inside photos ...

The above photos were taken in 2007 but I've "aged" them just for fun.

Her scrapbook contains glued-in programs of 14 of the movies and plays she attended in 1914 and 1915. Most often, she went to the Empress which opened in 1911, I think. I don't have a 1914-15 photo of the Empress but here is one in 1923 ...

Here is one of the 14 movie/play programs ... I've picked this one because Bill Skirvin's daughter co-stared in this movie ... the Tyrone Power is the father of the Tyrone Power (Jr.) that most of us who have seen 1940s-1950s movies would know.

She also had a series of what I call "Romance Cards" dating to 1912 which I found interesting. They were postcard size but were much thicker, probably times 4-5. I tried to research the origin of the cards but came up empty handed. Here are a pair ... click for larger views ...

And, of course, there are some nifty vintage photos of family & friends ... judging by the background, I think the next one is at a picnic by the North Canadian, perhaps in Wheeler Park ...

... and I'm guessing that the background for this outing is Belle Isle Park ...

With the long-standing Reinhart lose ends tied up, I'll turn next to seeing what I can do with all of the Capitol Hill stuff that I've collected as my next large project.
