FriedPies101 10-29-2009, 05:50 PM The Gideo's are neighbors of mine, are they getting rid of the liquor store?
I do not think that they plan to do so, but just to be sure, you might ask them.

FriedPies101 10-29-2009, 05:52 PM Just stopped by for lunch, what a great pie it was.
I had the tex-mex and my girl friend had the chicken pot pie.
For dessert we had the brownie pie and the chocolate pecan pie and they were just amazing. The crust is so flaky and taste so fresh. Just want to say thanks for the great service.
PS I was the county line bbq guy.
Mballard85, thank you for stopping by and I do remember you. For a moment, I was a little rushed, so I thank you for your patience.
I appreciate your comments and am glad that my fried pies met your expectations. Feel free to stop by anytime.

FriedPies101 10-29-2009, 05:54 PM Oh man! This is going to severely limit my intake of Broome's Fried Pies. But you gotta do what you gotta do. My best wishes for great success in the new location. I will be by before you pull the plug.
RealJimbo,
As always, thank you for helping to keep us afloat. Your support has been unmatched. I will look forward to visiting with you in the near future.

I didn't know if that was the space you would be using. Where exactly is it that you are going in at?

I will be working out of the building that Two Brothers Pizza owns. We will be sharing space.

ImTheDude 11-13-2009, 12:41 PM How are things at the new location?
Chance23 11-14-2009, 10:48 AM You guys have a website or any other way to look at the menu before stopping in?
RealJimbo 12-16-2009, 10:39 PM Did everyone see the "Is This A Great State or What" segment on KFOR news last weekend? Broome's shined! You can still find it on the website.
RealJimbo 12-18-2009, 04:51 PM This weekend is a good time to go out to Pop's on Rt. 66 in Arcadia then go on over to Broome's in the Two Brothers Pizza shop for dessert. Or just get your pizza on and you can have pie for main course, pie for dessert! Any way you do it, you GOT to go to Broome's!
Had my first Broome's Fried Pie today. I've been an agnostic for years, but holy jeez, it was so good, I think I'm a believer again.
RealJimbo 05-13-2010, 02:53 PM I had a pie from Broome's last week (apricot) then one from the pie place at Gainesville, TX this week (apple), then another one from G'ville (cherry) and it's official: Broome's is the best. This weekend I plan to go and have a couple from Broome's. I guarantee, if you have never had a Broome's pie, you will thank me if you make the trip to Arcadia America between 11 AM and 8 PM M-Sat and 11 AM - 5 PM Sunday. Broome knows me and if you don't agree that the trip is worth it, tell Broome and I'll pick up the cost of your pie(s).
Via their twitter acct on May 10:
is now open only from Wednesday through Saturday from 11 till 8 and Sunday from 11 till 5.
Say it ain't so, Broome!

From May 14th:
Broome's Fried Pies Well, the time has come where I need to make one more change. This month is my last in Arcadia. Afterwards, I will move my equipment to storage and take the summer to refocus and relocate my business. I thank all who have continued to support me during this short run and I am hopeful that I will return much stronger in the fall.
From today:
Broome's Fried Pies is undergoing a period of transition. Negotiations which will shape my business's future are underway. Stay tuned, Fans, as there is more to come.
And I just discovered him for myself a couple weeks ago! Guess I'll have to make a couple more trips out this month to "stock up" for the hiatus. . .
metro 05-19-2010, 08:41 AM Arcadia? I thought he was in OKC out off I-35 before you hit Frontier City?

Broome has been a bit of a moving target, but worth following. I've come to know Mr. and Mrs. Broome and can tell you that they are good folks. Stay tuned. He hinted this week that there may be some good news around the corner.

Nope.

flintysooner 07-06-2010, 11:32 AM Try Broome's Fried PIes (http://www.okctalk.com/showthread.php?t=18555)
realtorchris 07-07-2010, 10:50 PM I love those pies!! Yes, they were at Arcadia in a Pizza place next door to a wonderful little liquor store ran by a great little lady named, Kimber! On Facebook, Broome's said they were closing that store, and hopefully would find another place? Oh, and the liquor store will special order things they don't normally stock...
SoonerQueen 07-08-2010, 01:14 AM I wish they would move somewhere in NW OKC. Their pies are delicious, but driving out to Arcadia wasn't really convenient. They need to move where the people are.
RealJimbo 07-08-2010, 04:25 PM I'll try to keep you all updated. Broome is a friend and has indicated that he will continue on, just isn't ready to release the details.
Steve 07-13-2010, 08:45 PM RealJimbo, let Broome know that there are some quality downtown area developers looking for unique, destination eateries. (Think Big Truck Tacos, Iguana Mexican Grill, Cuppies and Joe, etc). I've got to wonder if Broome might fit what some of them are looking for.
ljbab728 07-13-2010, 11:09 PM I've never eaten at Broomes so I don't know that much about it. I do know that they aren't the only fried pie restaurant around though. There has been a location for years on the north side of 50th just west of Portland.

Nobody in town can compare to Broome's pies. He has the ingredients and the process perfected. Latest word is that he expects to be back on the scene soon, in a new location.

You may be correct. As I said, I've never eaten there. I was just pointing out that they weren't the only option.

The Original Fried Pie Place, which started in Ardmore by Nancy Fulton, now in Davis, now has bought the fried pie place on 50th & Portland. It has been re-named Arbuckle Mt. Fried Pies and will be open during the week of Aug 8, the same quality pies you get at Davis at the Turner Falls exit. Both Broom and the place on 50th have done their own take on the original pies Nancy makes, but can't come close to the quality.
Larry OKC 08-06-2011, 12:14 AM ^^^
Thanks for the info, i live around the corner from there and every time I drive by it looked closed and abandoned (for a while now).
Didn't see any activity when i drove by today, doesn't look like it is going to be opening within a week?

Pretty sure they've owned the place on 50th and Portland for years. It was formerly called "Fultons Fried Pies".
RadicalModerate 08-06-2011, 12:42 PM Didn't Broom's start out in that former Italian place--that I think was a former something else that didn't make it in that location (or vice-versa)--on the I-35 (west-side) frontage road just south of Hefner?
Every time I drive by that Fried Pie place around 50th and Portland I want to stop . . .
But it's never lunchtime or dinnertime.
Does anyone else remember a little "Australian Fried Pie" place in the strip center at 2nd and Coltrane (in Edmond)? I think a husband and wife--from Australia--ran it. Sometimes on my way home--way further east--I used to stop and buy the frozen ones they would sell to heat up later.
Of course, they weren't as good as the ones freshly made in the shop, but whaddya gonna do . . .? =)
ctchandler 08-06-2011, 01:16 PM I don't know if Broom's started there, but yes they were just South of Hefner on the I-35 service road in the former Acapulco Mexican restaurant that was previously Papa's Little Italy. Acapulco was not there long but Papa's was open about twelve years.

99.99% sure that is the sign that is still in place...will double check on my way out today...LOL
Larry OKC 08-07-2011, 10:49 PM Ooops, while definitely a sign that has been there a while I didn't see the name Fulton's on it. possible that it was on there originally and changed to Famous (think that is what it says currently), but didn't look at it that closely. Did notice activity there, but doesn't look like they are close to opening (at least not some time this week). i was going to ask but the 2 people there looked worn out....
Am by there often and will try to give updates...
Larry OKC 08-08-2011, 11:19 PM UPDATE: Drove by today (Monday) and more activity going on. Chatted with the folks and they are planning on opening this Wednesday! I wish them the best but it didn't look like they were anywhere close to being done. The sign does still say Fulton's on one side. The nice young lady i spoke to said the same lady that owned Fultons still owns this, they are just going by a different name again. Can't remember what she said it was going to be called now...
Larry OKC 08-10-2011, 08:22 PM They didn't make the Wednesday opening date but said for sure they would be open Thursday....

This location is now open (as of Friday)!
The old signage is still in place but they had a delivery truck with the new name parked beside it. New signage, menu board and such are still to come but they are open for business. The folks are SUPER friendly. I couldn't decide what I really wanted as most of it sounded pretty good. Finally settled on the TexMex and Pizza ones. they were both tasty and I will be back to try others. They have a couple of meat based breakfast type ones a good variety of fruit and cream based (they also have some that are sugar free). A few lunch/dinner types. But all are available anytime they are open. Primarily take out but they do have a drive thru and a couple of small tables if you want to eat it there.
RealJimbo 08-15-2011, 09:36 PM Hmmm. This started out as a thread about Broome's Fried Pies. I promise I will do my best to find out what Mr. Broome is up to. I know that he made a run at partnering with some other specialty foodies on N. May but that didn't work out. More soon, I promise!
Larry OKC 08-15-2011, 11:35 PM RealJimbo: I was thinking they were one and the same but after rereading the thread saw that they weren't. I was going to start a new thread for the other place but others mentioned it too and it morphed, so I kept it here. Sorry for my part in the derailing. Feel free to return to Broome's.
RealJimbo 08-16-2011, 06:17 AM No problem-o Larry. Just got Broome's OK to refer anyone who is a fan to their FaceBook page. Just type in "Broome's Fried Pies" to find them on FB. I believe you can order direct from Broome with minimum orders that he will deliver personally. At least that was my most recent understanding of his present situation. I think he still plans to re-open a store front but right now he is catering.
