WOW! I just checked online with Bank of Oklahoma and the $10 has already been credited to my account. That's great service.

WOW! I just checked online with Bank of Oklahoma and the $10 has already been credited to my account. That's great service.

I emailed them and one of their service reps informed me the following about BBQ Chop Shop: "our representatives have recently contacted the business in regards to this and it appears as though the owners are trying to resolve some issues in the hopes of reopening as soon as possible."

They offered to have me wait to see if they reopened or get a refund now, while I opted to get the refund anyhow, I hope they reopen!

I'm glad things are working out and they are opening back up. They worked hard to build up a group of customers. Their food is good and they are certainly close to my house. We'll be going back again soon.

Hey, Chop Shop Posse! Let's go to the Chop Shop Tuesday, Nov. 2 for lunch. What a great way to chill past the election day madness.

Good grub. Real meat. Real sides. Good portions. Great sauce. Real people just trying to do something they love for a living. I've tried almost every BBQ place in the metro and this is the only one that I'll probably return to regularly. Billy Sims, OK Station, Swadley's are all so generic and bland. I get the Indie thing they are going for, but the decor could use some help, I'll agree. Too dark, cold and the dining room isn't the most comfortable place in the world, but it's BBQ! It's worth trying at least once, folks. I have enjoyed the pulled pork, sliced and chopped brisket, Cream E Corn and slaw and have liked it all. One thing that would elevate things would be homemade bread rather than just opening up a loaf, but I understand that can be expensive and time consuming.

In the world where BBQ places run out of food because there is that large of a crowd, Franklin's BBQ here in Austin moved from their trailer location on I-35 to East 11th recently, they still run out of food because there are 80 people lined up before they open. They were just selected as the Best BBQ in America by Bon Appétit magazine.

Bon Appétit - A day in the life of Austin restaurant Franklin Barbecue's Aaron Franklin, a BBQ genius (http://www.bonappetit.com/magazine/slideshows/2011/07/aaron-franklin-barbecue-best-restaurant-in-america#intro)
KVUE - National magazine names Austin barbecue joint the best in America (http://www.kvue.com/news/National-magazine-names-Austin-barbecue-joint-the-best-in-America-124116729.html)
The New York Times - Barbecue’s New Battle Breaks Out in Austin (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/19/us/19ttpatoski.html)

Even Hitler has chimed in about Franklin's running out.....

No.....Dont think they have been in business at least for a couple months or more.
Real shame because they were easily one the better rib joints in nw okc. Did see some people moving stuff either in or out last week tho.

After having some tax problems and being closed down, they reopened and were doing ok. Next thing I knew they closed again. I think they relocated to Frontier City and have a restaurant there. Bad deal for those of us that don't go to Frontier City.

had noticed they were closed again but hadn't heard about the Frontier City thing. Interesting.

Frontier City would be very seasonal at best. I hope they get a regular location sometime in the future.

According to their Facebook page they are currently located at Frontier City which will give them the opportunity to save enough to go back to having their own independent location. Best of luck to them, their food is delicious.

With the kind of foot traffic they would get at Frontier City, seems like they could do it seasonally and take the rest of the year off. Of course I don't have any idea what kind of lease payments and the like are involved but it sounds like it could be a good deal for them.

Sounds like the owners are either a little off in the head, or the food isn't as good as some think. Frontier City??? LOL

Unless you know what their arrangement is with Frontier City or what motivated them to go there, you're being a little too judgemental. Is there a requirement that good food can't be served there?

Good for them.....All the food ive had at frontier city the last few visits has been horrible. BBQ chop shop is easily leaps and bounds over the food they offered.

Yes, Really. I've been to many amusement parks that have some excellent restaurants and there is no reason that Frontier City can't be in that category.

I guess it could be in that category...........but it's never been there, and won't for years and years, if ever.

It's so nice that you're so knowledgeable about what's going to happen in the future. Got any good stock market tips?

Come on............ this "great" restaraunt has closed up shop multiple times, and is now located at Frontier City for God's sake. This is such a silly argument. Do you have ties to Chop Shop or Frontier City?

He's right, you know. Putting restaurants in at seasonal amusement parks is the latest trend in fine dining. As a matter of fact, word on the street is that Good Egg is looking to put in a new concept of theirs just adjacent to the Acapulco Cliff Dive at White Water Bay. Tuck, confirm or deny?

Actually I've never eaten at Chop Shop and haven't been to Frontier City in probably 30 years. It's just that your argument about how impossible it seems to be for a good dining location to be there doesn't hold water. Your comment in post 135 implies that no decent food outlet would lower themselves to being there and therefore they aren't very good if they want an outlet in Frontier City.

Agree. There used to be some great food places down at Six Flags but they slowly got replaced with lower quality but higher priced "park food". Remember a couple of decades ago when I used to live a stones throw from Disney World (back in the days when there was just Sea World, Circus World and Disney World...and Busch Gardens over in Tampa) and it had B+ food offerings all over the park. Reasonably priced too considering you were a captive audience (no outside food/drink allowed). Can't say what the quality is now days.

I have heard that the BBQ Chop Shop opening at Frontier City is not owned by the previous owners. The recipes will be the same so I have no reason to think it won't be pretty darned good. The previous owners are working on something new.
