View Full Version : So, let's get together...
OKCMallen 06-30-2009, 08:30 PM Anyone familiar with fark.com? It's a newsfilter site and community of like-minded people. They will often have a party in random cities where they generally eat, drink and be merry!
So is OKCTalk.com! Would there be any interest in something like that with our community? We have a lot of gumption, know-how, and OKC love here...maybe we could even have a speaker if people wanted, but ended up just mixing around and talking about OKC?
Just a thought....
kevinpate 06-30-2009, 08:47 PM what?!?!, and have to put on pants and shoes just to come share ideas? That'll take some getting used to.
OKCMallen 06-30-2009, 08:54 PM I know, right...AND we'd have to be polite when discussing politics?!
I'm game. I've been dying to meet some of the interesting characters on this board. Before introducing myself, I'd probably sit back and see how many posters I can correctly identify based only on their behavior and actions.
OKCMallen 06-30-2009, 09:20 PM Hahaha good call. I'd like to meet some of the main players...karried, metro, midtowner...I've seen Steve many times downtown and have almost gone up to introduce myself, but it's usually in passing or while we're eating lunch in the same place. He has an entourage. :)
Midtowner 06-30-2009, 09:57 PM I'm a "main player."
I don't know how I should feel about that.
Not only are you a "main player", you're the Master of Ceremonies.
I had proposed this a while ago... I was active on an OU board for a while and we had very successful real life get-togethers which I helped organize.
I'll be in OKC in late July / early August but the only time I could attend something like this would be Sunday, Aug. 2nd.
Perhaps we could meet at McNellies for an early dinner and/or drinks?
Karried 06-30-2009, 10:26 PM Great idea, but it doesn't always pan out. We've tried to do things like this before and for some reason, it's easier for most people to remain anonymous .. but I think it's great fun for people to get together!
Thunder 06-30-2009, 10:35 PM If I go, I would be the most quiet one. :LolLolLol
donbroncho 06-30-2009, 10:42 PM Lets do it. Meeting some of these main players would be interesting...
How about a coffee shop?
I could even meet this Friday evening.
I've always wanted to meet CMSturgeon for some reason.

How much do you charge for personal interpreting service?
Midtowner 06-30-2009, 11:08 PM For me, not until July 30th and beyond.
Bar Exam and all.
How much do you charge for personal interpreting service?
Unless it's for family or contracted through an agency, I don't do personal interpreting.
However, if we do a get together, I'll help ya' out a bit.

between now and the bar, in particular the night between the sessions, set it down for a few hours, more than once.
Go bike, go swim, go kick arse and take no prisoners on a pool table, something, anything that is not related to the bar. Your sanity will thank you for eons to come.
I've got the space if interested.

Sanity?
lasomeday 07-01-2009, 08:08 AM Sounds good. I am in. Sundays are good for me.
kmf563 07-01-2009, 08:11 AM I'm in. I've met a few of you already. Some of you I even like. he he.
metro 07-01-2009, 08:35 AM As Karried said, we've tried this years ago in the past, but getting people to show up is another story. I did however enjoy our tour of the Colcord, Doug and Patrick are the only ones I remember though.
DaveSkater 07-01-2009, 08:57 AM I think it'd be cool. I'd have to make arrangements for someone to watch my kids tho......

I like this idea, although we could spend some money at one of Tuck's establishments!

You can cut trees more efficiently if you stop to sharpen the axe from time to time.
workman45 07-01-2009, 10:58 AM I was able to make it to one meeting at Ted's and everyone had a good time.
Shall we wait for Aug. 2nd so Pete can make it or shoot for another date.
