JIMBO 05-01-2010, 05:33 PM Venture, you haven't kept us updated. i for one, have been following your posts.
venture 05-01-2010, 07:24 PM Hasn't been anything new to report here. :)
JIMBO 05-01-2010, 07:45 PM Could this calm period mean we are geting ready for a big shaker?
venture 05-01-2010, 07:50 PM Could this calm period mean we are geting ready for a big shaker?
Possibly or that the pressure has been released to the point where there isn't much left.
JIMBO 05-01-2010, 07:55 PM Hope it's the latter.
SkyWestOKC 06-02-2010, 03:39 PM Was there by any chance an earthquake today on the southside?
About 10 minutes ago I heard something falling on my skylight and rolling around. I thought it may have been some seeds from the tree or something. I walked over to that part of the house and it happened again, the entire skylight and room shook. I went outside to see if a limb fell, nothing, no damage or anything. The panels of the skylight (already damaged from the hail) were shaking back and forth in their notches. I can't for the life of me figure out what happened.
unfundedrick 01-31-2022, 10:55 PM Just a reminder, for those who might not know, we do have a separate thread about earthquakes.
Elrenogolf 01-12-2024, 09:52 PM A couple big ones in Edmond tonight. 3.3 at 9:37 PM and another larger one about 10 minutes later.
SEMIweather 01-12-2024, 09:54 PM Well, we had to celebrate the Chesapeake merger somehow…
Mississippi Blues 01-12-2024, 10:11 PM A 4.2 at 9:46 was the “big” one.
Elrenogolf 01-12-2024, 10:43 PM So far there have been 8.
Elrenogolf 01-13-2024, 06:09 AM Another 4.4 in Edmond. I think 12 total so far. Just heard a small 13th as I was typing this.
Snowman 01-13-2024, 06:39 AM A couple big ones in Edmond tonight. 3.3 at 9:37 PM and another larger one about 10 minutes later.
I am not sure if big is a good way to describe a 3.3, that is barely on verge a human may notice one might be happening, and even that depends on what you are doing at the time.
Felt a pretty strong one just after 5:30 AM.
Scared the crap out of my dogs.
Bowser214 01-13-2024, 07:26 AM Imagine living on the 134th of a residential skyscraper during an outbreak
Of earthquakes! Sorry had to go there
Tyson 01-13-2024, 07:32 AM Knocked a bunch of frames off of my shelves last night. Both of the ones I felt were huge.
Bill Robertson 01-13-2024, 07:55 AM Felt a pretty strong one just after 5:30 AM.
Scared the crap out of my dogs.I knew something made the house "pop" and the cat jumped. Now I know why.
mugofbeer 01-13-2024, 11:04 AM Wait! Could the Earthquake be a new name for the baseball team? :)
OKCRealtor 01-13-2024, 11:54 AM Well, we had to celebrate the Chesapeake merger somehow…
LOL, we're back!
Bunty 01-13-2024, 02:20 PM The state corporation will have to bring those oil wells in the area under control.
Bellaboo 01-13-2024, 02:29 PM The state corporation will have to bring those oil wells in the area under control.
It's the salt water injection wells that are the problem. Might have to shut a few down within the 6 miles radius of the quakes,
OkieHornet 01-13-2024, 02:37 PM From an article in today’s Oklahoman:
On Saturday, a corporation commission spokesman said Oklahoma’s 3.0 magnitude and greater earthquake activity has dropped by more than 98 percent since 2017 since the commission initiated large-scale actions in 2015.
In a statement, the commission said:
"Our OCC Induced Seismicity Dept is researching these quakes. The quakes that occurred years ago (2014-2017) in the area were linked to oil and gas wastewater disposal wells that used the deep Arbuckle formation. They were shut down by the OCC years ago. Hydraulic fracturing has been linked to quakes in other areas, but there are no such activities in the Arcadia area."
Achilleslastand 02-02-2024, 11:25 PM Earthquake?
Tyson 02-02-2024, 11:26 PM Just felt a big one in Edmond.
turnpup 02-02-2024, 11:29 PM Felt it strong near downtown. Seemed to last a long time.
Bunty 02-02-2024, 11:31 PM I felt it and startled me in Stillwater. I'm just glad it it's over and wasn't any worse. It's up there as one of the worst ones for being scary to me.
Tyson 02-02-2024, 11:36 PM Someone from Joplin said they felt it. 5.1 magnitude, epicenter in Prague, OK.
Bunty 02-02-2024, 11:45 PM Someone from Joplin said they felt it. 5.1 magnitude, epicenter in Prague, OK.
Yeah, I thought it would be well up there. Compare that to the strongest quake ever in Oklahoma centered near Pawnee in 2016 at 5.8. That one was scarier.
CatholicSooner 02-02-2024, 11:55 PM I never feel them. The only one I remember feeling was the Kirk herstreit one
BG918 02-02-2024, 11:59 PM Extremely strong in Tulsa. Must’ve been the relatively shallow depth
Bunty 02-03-2024, 12:57 AM I never feel them. The only one I remember feeling was the Kirk herstreit one
Oh, yeah, he was famous for the surprised look on his face on camera when an earthquake happened after the OSU game.
I hear them and feel them both, if not asleep. This latest one had thunder in the distance. Some of them come with a startlingly loud clap of thunder.
