View Full Version : Frozen yogurt places
ApplePearBerry 06-15-2009, 08:15 PM I'm in love w/all these frozen yogurt places!
I've only been to PassionBerri, and I cannot wait for Lemon Tree on 104th and S. Penn to open! It boasts crepes and frozen yogurt - now that is different - crepes. :k-bunny:
Here are the others if anyone wants to try it out:
PassionBerri, Norman
Lemon Tree, S. OKC
Orange Tree, Edmond
Pink Swirls, Midwest City
Happy eating!
nguy0231 07-10-2009, 10:21 PM soon there will be a place called LUSH BERRIES somewhere on expressway too
xd0nn4x 07-10-2009, 11:43 PM Pink swirl is delish!
Debzkidz 07-11-2009, 05:13 PM Lushberries is under construction on the Broadway Extension and 33rd in Edmond, in an old Quiznos location. The sign on the window says live culture yogurt and crepes. Yummy!
metro 07-14-2009, 09:24 AM Pink Swirls 2nd location is well underway at NW Expressway and Rockwell, in the shopping center with Target/Ross.
jbkrems 07-14-2009, 11:31 AM Pink Swirls will also open in Edmond, which means it has a 3rd location.
Lushberries is also going to open in Edmond.
I was in Orange Tree on Sunday afternoon, after church, and it was delicious, and busy, too.
metro 07-14-2009, 01:35 PM Yes PinkSwirls will have at least 5 locations. They have also planned Norman and Belle Isle.
JerzeeGrlinOKC 07-14-2009, 07:41 PM Aye ca rumba! 5 locations? Overload...
Debzkidz 07-27-2009, 08:55 AM We tried the new LuSh Berries location in Edmond this weekend. Not impressed. The yogurt flavors were okay, but not as large a selection as Orange Tree. Also, tried the crepes. They have apparently not mastered the art of crepe making yet. The guy making it seemed to be having a very hard time with the crepe sticking to the griddle and tore it as he was trying to get it off. Also, it was way overcooked, all brown and crunchy. Not like any other crepe I've ever eaten.
I think what upset us the most was the obvious attempt at copying of the interior of Orange Tree. Same style white modern furniture. Same tile around the machines. Same style lighting in dining area. Same flat screen monitor on the wall behind the counter displaying pricing. Same clear water decanter with sliced fruit in it. Although they had obviously attempted to copy the competition, they didn't do a very good job of it. We felt like the folks at Orange Tree took the big risk of buying a franchise and introducing fro-yo into the Edmond area, and these people just basically came and tried to copy their place. We'll stick with Orange Tree!

Pink Swirls has also opened up their Edmond location...so now you Edmondites will have even more options! haha..I read an article in the Edmond Sun about Lush berries and their interior design
Lu-Quan said they went with a European style to decorate the interior. She said the result is a nice, clean look. People can come and lounge in front of their flat screen television or work or study using free wi-fi, Lu-Quan said
The Edmond Sun - Frozen yogurt trend grows in Edmond (http://www.edmondsun.com/business/local_story_198223308.html?keyword=topstory)
oh, and there are even MORE froyo places opening
Restaurateur Chris Lower is also getting in on the growing trend.
Lower and partners Allan McMurrain, Tom Wolfe and Marc Silver plan to open Cool Greens at Nichols Hills Plaza in August. That store will offer salads, wraps and homemade yogurt. They also plan to open Cool Berri, which will sell only yogurt, near Quail Springs Mall in August and plan a second store in Norman by October.

While I wouldn't say it upset me, I would agree that it's pretty obvious where they drew their inspiration. The tile work is actually much better at LuShBerries than at Orange Tree - whoever their tile person was did a fantastic job.
As for yogurt quality and selection - Orange Tree tastes creamier, so I'm going to stick with them, although their lines can be atrocious.
MsDarkstar 07-28-2009, 08:56 AM Pink Swirls 2nd location is well underway at NW Expressway and Rockwell, in the shopping center with Target/Ross.
Actually, it's across the street to the East of the Target/Ross shopping center. The sign is up, it's next to Chick-Fil-A. I work just down the street, so I'll definitely be trying it.
metro 07-28-2009, 09:39 AM Aye ca rumba! 5 locations? Overload...
Not really, if you think about it, that's one store for every 225,000+ in the metro. You have to remember that this metro is WAYYYYY underserved in almost every category except steakhouses and tex-mex food.
Also the wife and I had dessert at Marble Slab in Bricktown this past weekend. Now they have 2 kinds of FroYo. They had Green Apple and Melon. I don't care much for melon fruits, but the froyo was ridiculously good! I'd put it right there with Pink Swirls being the best in the metro thus far.
nguy0231 08-03-2009, 11:57 PM umm to comment....ALL THE YOGURT STORES HAVE THE SAME DECOR GOING ON, even in Dallas. All the same little water coolers with the slices of fruit in it, the same tile work by the machines and all the same ikea furniture with ikea lamp shades. So i don't think lush berries was copying orange tree. So let's not hate on lush berries because they actually have a better yogurt than orange tree. Orange tree's yogurt is way too sweet.
metro 08-04-2009, 08:57 AM I still think Pink Swirls is the best in metro, but you're right about the decor (which I love), they are all the same. Lushberries in Edmond was also on FOX 25 morning news this morning.
lasomeday 08-04-2009, 09:06 AM Yeah, Pho Nomenal is going to start serving Fro Yo this week. They only have a few flavors though, but it is a great location next to Okura on May south of Grand.
lasomeday 08-30-2009, 08:04 AM Passionberri in Norman is now self serve. They have 6 flavors now instead of 3. They are now $.40/ounce.
The new Froyo place on May and Memorial is about to open. It is in the same shopping center as Cafe 7.
calitook 08-30-2009, 08:59 AM Tropical Cafe at 2nd/Kelly in Edmond has a big sign out saying they now have yogurt. I haven't tried it. There's also Berrilicious going in at 164th and Penn (Just north of the N/E corner, diagonal from the Sonic.) Oh yeah, and Splash going in at 2nd and Santa Fe (where Gamer's Paradise briefly resided.)
So from zero to what, 7 places in the NW OKC/Edmond area alone in the past year?
JerzeeGrlinOKC 08-30-2009, 10:45 AM Don't forget Lushberries at the Edmond Exchange. Went there a couple nights ago, same as the rest, except they had some interesting flavors I haven't really seen at other places, Taro and Acai Berry (the Tart was delicious!). Also I don't believe the yogurts are non-fat however unless indicated, while I though I noticed that Pink Swirls were mostly non-fat? Could be wrong.
With all this head-spinning, I think each of these places is going to need to offer something else besides yogurt to stay competitive and afloat, especially when the yogurt craze becomes old hat. For example, at least Pink Swirls has sushi which is something totally different. I know the other places have stuff like waffles and crepes and all that.
JerzeeGrlinOKC 08-30-2009, 10:47 AM I still think Pink Swirls is the best in metro, but you're right about the decor (which I love), they are all the same. Lushberries in Edmond was also on FOX 25 morning news this morning.
Oh sorry you did mention it. Hard to keep each of the new places straight, its crazy!
Debzkidz 08-30-2009, 10:58 AM I've been in the Pink Swirls in Edmond several times, and have never noticed Sushi mentioned anywhere. All I saw there was waffles and smoothies. I'll have to give it a closer look next time I'm there. Maybe its not the same at all locations.
JerzeeGrlinOKC 08-30-2009, 02:43 PM Maybe the sushi is just at the first Pink Swirls location then (Midwest City)?

The reason they are all the same, is because they are all copies of the original high end, live culture, yuppie modern yogurt chain, PinkBerry (Pinkberry Frozen Yogurt (http://www.pinkberry.com)). It is based in SoCal and almost all located in NYC and LA. I ate at the one on Bleecker St. and it was quite delicious (the best yogurt I've had to date in fact). I'm glad to see that at least they are local. But, they are obviously fashioned from Pink Berry, which is why nearly all of them have either the word Pink or Berry in the name.

except Pinkberry isn't self-serve, and ALL of the ones in the metro are self-serve. the ones here are more like Yogurtland (self-serve and a variety of flavors) than Pinkberry. I think Passionberri was the most obvious ripoff of Pinkberry when it first opened...they only had three flavors and it wasn't self-serve, but they soon switched.
andimthomas 09-07-2009, 10:18 AM Lush Berries is opening a new location in Moore between 19th and Santa Fe. Orange Tree is also opening in the South OKC area between Western and 12th.
Very close to the two high schools. I'll have to give them a try.
metro 09-08-2009, 08:52 AM I went to Yogurt Story in Dallas this weekend, it was decent, but the food and decor were much better at all the ones I've been to here locally.
lasomeday 09-08-2009, 01:10 PM So, how many yogurt places are there now?
okyeah 09-08-2009, 10:43 PM So, how many yogurt places are there now?
wellll there's 3 in Edmond (Lush Berries, Orange Tree, and Pink Swirls), 1 in MWC (Pink Swirls), one in Moore (Lemon Tree) and apparently 2 in the works (Orange Tree and Lush Berries are supposed to open in Moore?), two in the west OKC/Yukon area (Pink Swirls and Lush Berries), Passionberri in Norman, and as for OKC...there is one that isn't open yet at the strip center north of May & Memorial. also lots of speculation about the ones that are supposed to be coming to Norman...heard Orange Tree was coming, and also another froyo place in campus corner. a lot of strip centers have been finished in east Norman around campus...wouldn't be surprised if they opened some there
Froyocraze 09-11-2009, 02:29 AM Actually Lemon tree is in south OKC not moore.
Froyocraze 09-14-2009, 11:23 AM I have heard Lemon tree on 104th and S. Penn will be serving Boba tea along with a lot of different tea based drinks, slushes. Awesome I can't wait to try them I love Boba!!!!
okyeah 09-15-2009, 01:16 PM Froyocraze,
it's so obvious that you work for Lemon Tree...lol
lasomeday 09-15-2009, 01:19 PM BOBOTEA IS GOOD!
Yeah, the one just west of Quail Springs Mall is Cool Berrie. It is in the same shopping center as Cafe 7.
Martin 09-15-2009, 01:40 PM was at lemon tree last week and noticed that they ripped out the spot where you picked up the bowls to make room for two more dispensers... they must be having pretty good success.
and the $5 minimum sign is gone. :P

Froyocraze 09-16-2009, 05:35 PM Froyocraze,

You need to get your facts straight before you post anything.
Today I passed by Tropical Cafe in Edmond and they had a banner that said Frozen Yogurt Happy Hour Half Price 3-9pm. That seems like a long happy hour. I could be wrong about the end time. The banner wasn't exactly straight and taut. Anyone seen the same thing?
okyeah 09-16-2009, 08:17 PM Well, there's this option where you can click on somebody's username and look at all of their posts......

Sure, I will tutor you. I charge $25 an hour...Let me guess, you want to meet at LEMON TREE, right?
The Lemon Tree website has some errors very similar to yours:
from Lemon Tree's website (http://www.lemontreeyogurt.com/index.html)
Lemon Tree Yogurt
The healthy fresh alternative sweet that fit your lifestyle. Perfect combination of all natural, sweet, luscious vitamin enriched desert.
and I'm guessing that you are also on Urban Spoon (http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/46/1470434/restaurant/Suburban-Southside/Lemon-Tree-Oklahoma-City)?

onthestrip 09-16-2009, 11:04 PM Now that's some investigative message board reporting!
Wow, my head hurts trying to understand what this guy is saying....
Lemon tree they are opened. Seriously?
Froyocraze 09-17-2009, 01:22 AM Wow Okyeah you seriously have too much time on your hand. I am glad you found someone has same kind of taste as me. Awesome I guess I will join the urbanspoon and send that guy a message. Let me know where and when you want to meet for the tutor class. Lastly you and your buddy Tex can come to the tutor class together.
Martin 09-17-2009, 07:16 AM alright peeps, that's enough. are your lives so dull that you have to do a full background check of somebody who apparently likes frozen yogurt?
back to topic. -M
Tropical Cafe does in fact have happy hour from 3pm-9pm Monday thru Friday. Froyo is half off. Bring cash if you plan on using your card and spending less than $5 since they have a sign that says $5 minimum purchase on credit cards. Little do they know they are not permitted to require a minimum purchase amount on credit cards per their Visa agreement.
Froyocraze 09-24-2009, 05:07 PM Finally find the time to go to Lemon tree, tried their green milk tea with Boba. It was awesome I love Boba. You guys should go try their Boba tea and their new flavor teas and slushes.
