View Full Version : Make out Spots
papaOU 06-16-2009, 08:40 PM "5 Mile" or County Line Road north of 39th Street at the burned out bridge was the party place. I grew up riding motorcycles on the north side of the river where 50th turns into a dirt road so I knew many of the places to pull off the road behind trees to where you couldn't be seen from the road. Saw the ranger searchlight flash by many times but they never stopped. It is now closed off and is the Stinchcomb Wildlife Refuge.
Loved that place. One of the reasons they made it a wildlife refuge was because the roads always got in bad shape and they decided just stop traffic. I don't think you can get there in a vehicle going north from 39th. That backwater was some good fishing as well.
bluedogok 06-16-2009, 09:10 PM I think the area at the end of 5 Mile now has the turnpike going through it.

LeethalDose 09-13-2009, 10:36 PM any of you "Newbies" read this thread yet????
Yeah - finally got to this one - too many *good* old threads...
Pre-cars it was houses under construction around the neighbor hood (74th & Penn) and where ever someone's usually older friend might be baby-sitting.
Once cars entered the picture - any old road south of 89th in the portland/may/penn/western area - drive-ins were ok once the windows got steamed over... then i started dating edmond-ites. Remember driving the "extension" - two laned at the time - passing (like an idiot) on the right side - gravel shoulder... Edmond had lotsa construction sites - remember one time my girlfriend looking up and there was the cop watching - he *didn't* want to scare us - he'd been watching us for who knows how long...

phinzup 09-18-2009, 06:35 PM Well....there was the gal that worked (after hours) at the dentist office at 44th & S. May. She cleaned the office up each evening after closing time.

kevinpate 09-18-2009, 09:58 PM I'm suspecting some dental appointments in the next few weeks are gonna run long as folks think back to this thread's recent turn and begin to cackle semi-uncontrollably

Yeah right:..........Gentlemen of the South don't you know. But, notice....Pennyquilts started this...it was all HER fault....
PennyQuilts 10-22-2009, 01:31 PM When I was a kid, I always heard about going to the "Submarine races" and going out to Lake "Hold her closer (Overholser)." Do/did such places actually exist? I confess to some smooching in the car but it was generally around the corner from my house back in the trees - and I always had an eye out for some ax murderer intent on hacking up young lovers.
And to go back to the original post, I have to agree with GM - as far as I go, pretty humdrum!

prunepicker... he gets a little excited...
Hey! I believe everything PQ says. I wasn't anywhere near that corner
where the trees were, to the best of my feeble memory.
If PQ says she's an axe murderer then I believe it!
Yes, I'm excitable but I have no friends. Prunette says so.
Prunepicker 10-22-2009, 10:33 PM This just in...
Prunette just said that the make out spots for Crooked Oak, aka bent twig,
was the parking lot of the Skyline Restaurant and the football stadium off of
S.E. 15th and S. Eastern.
More to come...
Just don't tell Prunette...
OUCH!
Never mind, she knows...

Give Crooked Oak it's due! That's bent stick! Not a puny bent twig.
Hit him again.
I was told recently that the stadium at CHHS was great for smooching.
I never knew that.
Of course I was never "straight" during those years.

papaOU 10-23-2009, 05:02 PM I went to CHHS and attended football games. People have made comments about the under the bleachers being a great make out spot. My attendance at those games were when I was generally "under the influence."
Enough said.
gmwise 10-23-2009, 06:57 PM ahhh!! lol
Generals64 11-05-2009, 08:17 AM Hey:.....pennyquilts is coming back to okc. Maybe she'll remember more of this so-called spots??????

kevinpate 11-05-2009, 10:39 AM I am quilting a chastity belt.
does this mean the old phrase was actually - a stitch in time saves mine?
Prunepicker 11-05-2009, 10:40 AM Far southwest of the city, then Wheatland, Union City and nearby, were
popular places. There were a lot of dark dirt roads out there.
Of course, this is only hearsay.

Hey, good luck with the move to the motherland.
First point of duty for me after living in the greater DC area for as long as I did was to immediately grab a sonic burger, tots and limeade slush drive out to the middle of nowhere (far northwest edmond by a field) and just listen to the silence.
Let me know if you all need any help with the move I'm sure I could spare an evening to help you and your hubs move some stuff around.

Aren't you sweet. We have family crawling out of the woodwork to help unload the truck and feed us. But your offer is much appreciated.
As to Sonic - got it covered! We tend to stop at Sonic as soon as we cross the state line. And how did you know EXACTLY what I order? We're out just the OKC of Mustang and the silence is intoxicating.

Well then! If you have plenty of family to unload the truck we will not waste time.
I'll take you to Sonic and then to the middle of nowhere.
No sense in delaying or wasting time.....:tiphat:

Pops, I am sure I will be exhausted and want to head straight to sleep. Perhaps you could take my husband out for a burger. I expect he might have a few things he'd like to discuss. :elmer3:

You're kidding, right? Prunette has me fill out a loan application with
references, then there's the customary waiting period. I put in my loan for
Coit's last week. I hope it goes through.

kevinpate 11-17-2009, 07:36 AM I'm rolling here, as your home banks remind me of a former colleague.
He was a long time state worker who had never spoken with his family of the state's longevity pay process. Each year he cashed that separate longevity check and used the funds as he deemed best, no in-house loan application necessary.
After the state adopted mandatory direct deposit for such checks, there was a wee bit of explaining to do over at the Bank of Spouse.
