gen70 05-04-2010, 10:35 PM Here's an update on the 31 Ford Coupe - see avatar. Osborne's repaired the
radiator, but couldn't do anything about the radiator shell. George Fina may
be doing the work. If not, he knows someone who can do it. The shell is
stainless steel. This is the only thing that's keeping the car from coming
home.
The new radiator shells aren't made as well as the originals and they don't fit
properly. They want $600 for a new one. That's not going to happen. I'am glad to hear that George Fina is still around. I knew him waay back. (600.00 bucks?)

Prunepicker 05-05-2010, 11:51 AM pocket change for Prune
That's right! However, it's not in my pocket when I need it!
Generals64 05-05-2010, 03:32 PM So now this has turned into a, I'll show you mine if you'll show me yours thread?
I bought this car unrestored in 1980 for $350.00 and still had to think long and hard before I did it.

Prunepicker 05-08-2010, 09:07 PM Picker I should have told you the chickasha swap meet was this weekend.
I missed it. There are a couple of guys who keep me up to date but this time
it slipped by.
I'll never go to the swap meet at the Fairgrounds again, unless the admission
is free on Sunday or no more than a $1. Chickasha is far better and the price
is right.
Prunepicker 05-08-2010, 09:14 PM IMPORTANT NEWS FLASH!
Last night Prunette and I were watching the Big Sleep. When she saw
Bogey's car, 39 or 40 Ford coupe, she commented on how beautiful it was.
I told her it's like looking at a super babe in a bikini. Then mentioned that
they make great street rods.
About 10 minutes later I looked into her eyes and saw a '40 coupe. Candy
Apple Red with flames, tinted windows and over sized tires in the back.
Yes, Gen64, the front end was lowered.
That might be the next project, but I've got to let her think it's her idea.
Bring cash to the next Coit's meeting! Lots of cash!
We now return to our regular scheduled posts...
gen70 05-08-2010, 09:20 PM I really like the "new school" ghost flames.

It's coming along very good. It's almost finished.
skyrick 07-11-2010, 09:56 PM Sadly, I recently sold my 1965 Pontiac LeMans. We only have room for 3 cars in our driveway and garage (I won't park a car in the street). I just bought a 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track supercar, and on top of the Le Mans, my company vehicle, and the wife's car, one had to go. I got 9 years of enjoyment out of it. Didn't get nearly as much for it as I put into it, but you never will.
On the other hand, I'm looking for a long private straightaway where I can (legally) see how close to 170 mph (as indicated on the speedo) I can take the Genesis Coupe. Only had it up to 130 so far.

The Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. You can do it. A friend
of mine set a record in a rented Oldsmobile on at a certain
speed on a certain day. You might do well to check it out.
I think the car almost hit 110 on the speedo. Maybe it was
100. I don't remember. But he set the record for that
car on that particular day. LOL!

Yeah I have not seen one in years, and another car Oklahoma is famous for..."THE CITATION" ....what a beater!
Prunepicker 08-02-2010, 12:40 PM Yeah I have not seen one in years, and another car Oklahoma is
famous for... "THE CITATION"... what a beater!
There was a sign next to the Citation that was in the Made in
Oklahoma building. It said it was the first production car made
in the state. I guess the Fred Jones Manufacturing plant's
turning out of thousands of Model T's didn't count.
Generals64 08-03-2010, 12:56 PM I bought a 1948 one owner Chevrolet ton and a half flat bed yesterday. I has been "Barn Kept" ALL it's life and has been used on a farm in the panhandle. Paid $350.00 for it.....It is slick General78....thought I'd let you "drool" a little. My oldest son has already laid claim to it though......It's strange that NONE of the windows were broken and only has 40,000 plus miles on it......No Rust...just how rare is that????
Prunepicker 08-03-2010, 01:03 PM That's a great find. You tell us about these cars and where they
are but none of us do anything about it. I want a 40 Ford Coupe.
But it's got to be cheap. Like $350! Wake me up. I'm dreaming!
How about a 40 coupe street rod that's Candy Apple Red? Or
Jet Black? Oh yeah! I'd pay up to $700 for one of those.
Generals64 08-03-2010, 03:15 PM I know where the car is but, it's a little more than what you actually want to spend....It's located about S.W. 1st and Janeway on the west side of the street. Dark Blue with a beautiful flame job on it. I know where they are I just don't want to mess with them. I keep telling '78 about a '59 chevy two post 210 series that he can get for about $200.00 and a little work.....No show....oh well, it's still sitting there....How about a '57 Buick convertible sitting in a wheat field in North western Oklahoma???? I even told you about the old truck....pretty clean ride....My son is going to use it in his business....Now, a '57 Chevy BelAire 2 dr. hardtop...in Questa, New Mexico...guy is using it for a chicken coupe.....???? sheesh ....what is he thinking?????...'36 Chevrolet Pickup in a warehouse in Enid......Complete truck....Hmmm

I'll be in Questa next month. Where exactly is it? I'd like to get

You must be headed to South fork....We gotta talk face to face....we go four-wheeling on the south side of the Rio Grande and up in the mountains...Lots of trout...Mean while as you come into Questa from the South (Red River) at the first bend before the light look up to your right. On the left side there are a bunch of old fords there on your left at about the same spot. That old town is full of old cars. If you go through Springer, New Mexico you'll go crazy at the old cars back in the towns neighborhoods...especially West of the School Grounds....Call me....

Man I got to get on here more, I dont recall you telling me about that one. That buick would be a nice ride!
Generals64 08-17-2010, 08:30 PM you know, this has always been a "fun" thread. So, what can you tell US about your teen age years of cars that you remember most?...My first car cost me $65.00 (probably 45.00 too much) but, it was a 1951 Chevrolet and the Village Idiot (2 years younger than I am) and I thought we had the "Coolest" ride in south OKC...However, did I tell you that it had ACME Cleaners on the Side?... That didn't matter though .... My mom (coolest in town) would let us drive it up and down our Block....Everyone knew to stay out of the way.....Boy, was that Fun....How about you....Guys and Gals....anyone remember anything about their old cars?
Prunepicker 08-17-2010, 09:07 PM I drove a 1959 Peugeot 403. It was an awesome car.
I know you're all in awe and are wondering, "what in the heck is that?"
A four cylinder hemi with 4 on the tree, a sun roof and reclining seats if
you had a couple of hours.
When we bought it, for $175 in 1968, it was a light primer color with a very
sophisticated primer gray passenger door. It may have only been in 40 or
50 wrecks which explains why it was in such good condition. It would run
2 weeks on $2 of gas.
One day my back stabbin' best friend and I were calmly cruising south on
S. Agnew. Suddenly a car load of girls, traveling north, insanely started
honking their horn and madly waving and yelling at us. I immediately knew
they were Southeast High cheerleaders because all the other girls on the
south side wouldn't have anything to do with us. At any rate, I made a
beautiful U-Turn in the intersection of S.W. 29th & S. Agnew. while
totally ignoring the red light, and proceeded after them. We must have
been going 50mph! My back stabbin' best friend said, "hey, there's a cop
on our tail!" Knowing he was full of it, because that was his line every
10 minutes, I proceeded after the dames and the first possible date in
months. I managed to get the super car up to nearly 60mph!
I looked in the mirror.
There was a cop on our tail.
"Why didn't you say there was a cop on our tail?"
I cut through a gas station, the brakes weren't that good, and eventually
pulled over and waited. I used the curb to stop the car. At one point I looked
into the rear view mirror and the partner, I think it was Adam Reed, was
shooting us with his finger gun at us and laughing. You know, bang bang
you're dead. He was laughing really hard.
While we were going through the usual procedure the cop eventually asked
the question that would haunt me for the rest of my life,
"What type of car is this?"
I said, "Peugeot"
The cop said very indignantly, "WHAT DID YOU CALL ME?"
"Honest, occifer! *gasp* *horrors* *envisioning jail time* the car is a
Peugeot! Look on the hood!" The partner continued shooting his finger at
us.
He said he did me a favor and only gave me a ticket for negligent driving
because it was cheaper. Yeah, it was cheaper but it cranked the insurance
up a couple of notches.
I was really dumb.
We never found those girls. I keep thinking Soonergirl26, Tall Girl,
Rowdy55 and Southsidegirl were in the car. Pennyquilts was probably riding
her horse somewhere near McGinnis.
Generals64 08-23-2010, 01:56 PM My second car was a 1955 Pink & Gray Chevrolet Belair.. the Village Idiot and I put many miles on that old thing. Had a wreck in it...just knocked the fender down so We took the insurance money (other guy's fault) and bought a new fender and put it on the car. Hmmmm...then the hood ornament came off and then we found out we were pretty good paining model cars but the real thing just didn't look the same with about thirty cans of black primer from TG&Y.....It still got us where we needed to go.....You know there were some girls that lived in Del City....but, that's another story... then came the 1958 Ford Thunderbird....now, that was a cool ride....No Primer and leather (I think it was naugahyde) interior and air-conditioner...(didn't work but, still had one).....many, many stories about that car....
mrbob 09-13-2010, 06:30 AM Just bought a 1948 plymouth special deluxe just like my first high school car. It runs but needs brakes. Im fixing it now. Now it's a yellow 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8L Track. 306 hp. Goes like a scalded cat. Speedo goes to 170. At about 135, @ only 2500rpm and still accelerating, I figure it had more power than I have balls.

OKCRT 11-01-2010, 04:11 PM 74 L82 Corvette (splitail) for sale. Runs good needs mostly interior work. Someone did a repaint and it's a little (shade lighter) than the orig. brown. Needs tires and of course brakes since it has been sitting in the garage. I start it once or twice a month and let it run for 15 minutes. Always starts right up and runs good. $7500.00 Great project if someone has the time and money to fix her up right.

Prunepicker 11-01-2010, 08:43 PM We're still restoring the '31 Model A Business Coupe. It looks
incredible. Right now there's a leak in the cam shaft. The original
seal, which is still there, is leather. The mechanic is going to have
it machined for a rubber seal so it doesn't leak. The water pump
has a rawhide seal and is doing great.
Talk about a project!
The next project is either a '40 Ford Coupe street rod or a 2010
Enzo Ferarri. I'm torn between the two.
papaOU 11-02-2010, 12:31 AM My dad has a 1950 Ford F100 in his garage. He drove it for years, as did I. Original flathead 6, a double clutching trans includes granny gear. It belonged to an Uncle in Lincoln Co. who purchased it brand new. He gave it to dad around 1974. It had a little over 3200 miles on it. He mainly drove to town, 10 miles round trip, and around the farm when he needed to. It has been sitting there for years. Always "I need to get that thing running again" I told him that he had better will the thing or my brother, nephew, son and myself will have a battle for it.

I know it probably won't happen but, we should petition Pete B (the owner) to let people Post (for Sale) Vintage vehicles on this thread.....Not a 1999 Honda Accord but anything from 1963 back......Hey, I'd be willing to pay Prunepicker a couple of Hundred dollars for his Pristine re-done 31 Ford coupe.....
Kerry 11-02-2010, 10:42 AM Hollywood might want to buy this--it is worth a LOT...
She offered to give it to me for free, I just have to come get it. My problem is no place to park it and would have to pay someone for bringing it up to show condition. It is parked in Norman and the last time it moved it was under it's own power. I guess that is a good sign. I saw it about a year ago - need new paint and an interior extreme makeover. I have thought about seeing if the show Overhaulin could do something with it. It would make an 80 year old woman very happy. Her mother (my grandmother) bought it brand new in 1959.
village idiot 11-02-2010, 11:37 AM A 59 Cad would have better luck getting on "pimp-my-ride". Bling it on Grannie!
