Oh, fiddlesticks! He's using spray paint. But maybe if it's not too late he can
do the southside fade. I'll call right now.

Is there any truth that burlap is better than leather? He says you can't tell
the difference but burlap is a little more expensive. He's using a brand called
Evergreen.

You should see all the whiskey bottles in that garage!

Something tells me the kids down the street would have done this for free!
================================================== ============
OK now, I have some extra Golden T spray paint if you need it...Also, there are some kids from Jefferson that will paint it for you for free....they'll even "scratch" your name in it if you want them to.....

The "A" still needs a right rear fender. We're still looking for one. We really
want an old one but we might have to buy a new one. No fiberglass.

It's looking good!

We're pulling out all of the stops! LOL! The motor is going to be the original
201 CI 4 cylinder that came with the car. It's pushing close to 40 horses!

Except for the interior, it's going to be very near original, including the paint.
The guy doing the work deduced that the original color was Kewanee Green
and Elkpoint, which is the color in the photo.

Here's some trivia. Did you know that black wasn't a stock color for the
1928 Model A? You had to special order black if you wanted it.

We just got back from the garage and have an update on the Model A.
It's about 75% finished! The interior will be added tomorrow. The mechanic
decided he couldn't live with the engine looking like it did and gave it a
"southside rebuild". Those were his words, exactly. He painted it! Looks
great, too. Oh! A right rear fender has been found and it's on it's way. I'm
like a kid waiting for Daddy to put together the bicycle.

Here's what it looks like so far! The thing on the roof is the hood. He's not
sure that's where it goes and is going to look at some pictures to see if it
goes somewhere else.

Check out the chrome bumpers!

This is the truth, the mechanic said that he had some "shocks" for it.
They'd been removed, who knows when, and we never thought twice about
it. Maybe now it won't shake us as bad. LOL! I would have never known the
car had shocks to begin with!

The car isn't going to be "original show quality", but if it scores 750 points
we'll be ecstatic. Most likely we'll enter it as a modified vehicle. Heads are
gonna turn. Ain't know doubt 'bout it, as we say on the southside.

I have a 69 chevelle that I restored back in 1992. Was going to build a car for Thunder Valley. But one thing led to another and the car got too nice for a race car. Then I decided to give it to my son when he turned 16 ( I know what your thinkin, but he's a gear head too ) I told him if he did good in school I'd buy him a new pickup, but I'd get the chevelle back. Well he did his part of the deal, and I got a chevelle back. Thousands of dollars later it's got a 454ci crate motor, MSD ignition, Hooker headers, transmission, 12 bolt posi., Outlaw hood, Speed demond carb., Wheels, BF Goodrich Drag Raidials, etc. I finally took it to Thunder Valley last summer to see what it would do, and it ran 12.70's through the exhaust. I've taken it to many car show's and it's won Musele Car class many times. It' a real blast to drive once an a while.

Nice car Sam. Me and my 15 year old son are rebuilding a 69 Camaro SS, originally planned on going back all original, after some research we found the numbers on car/engine didn't much so we went the opposite direction. Interior is complete, most of the body work is done, have on order a crate 502, should be here in 7--10 days. Hope to be cruising around come spring or early summer.

Sounds like a real neat car. My son was 15 when I started my project and it was loads of fun for both of us. Your Camero done as what thay call retro car to me, is a lot more fun because your not as scared to drive it. If it was numbers matching you wouldn't want to drive it as much. Post some pics.

Much older than you two but, my oldest son, my father-in-law and I restored a '68 Mustang fastback for him....Buddy Rice built the motor and when all that started I backed out...Father-in-Law (quite a mechanic) and my son finished the car. But, when the Police department came to the door and told us to have our son come down and pick up his tickets because they couldn't catch him I decided to get him a pickup......That car was a "screamer"....wish I hadn't sold the car though, that body style is worth a fortune.....

I never had "any" money. My dad was a mechanic and my best friends dad worked for Masterbuilt Motors where we got a cheap shortblock and built it up. I needed a rear end too, probably had a 273 I'm guessing and that's why it had a slow 1/4 time IMO.

MrBob you had some great cars. The fastest thing I drove for a friend at the strip was a '69 Nova SS 396(L78). It ran A-purestock, then A-Stock w/slicks and some valve tweaking, holley carb, edelbrock mani and ran in the high 12's.
And he drove it to work. He went to Nam and his wife still liked the track so I drove it for awhile. Always wanted a 68-69 Camaro Z-28 with that screamin 302. Used to go to Seltzer and just sit in one.
