Where can someone find an honest-to-goodness patty melt in the metro okc area?? I mean one with good rye/dark bread, onions, cheese, and beef. None of this weirdness with texas toast, strange sauce, and peppers. Seriously. :)
Thanks!!!!!!

We just had a great one at Oma's Pantry last weekend
(@ NW 23rd & Council -- sandwiches primarily carry out)
it was their special of the day made with German meatloaf, grilled onions, fancy cheese and German Rye - pressed in a Panini.
I think VZDs does a traditional version on Rye w/grilled onions & swiss
I order them every chance I get -- I just don't get many chances.
If I remember another winner, will post.

I think Freddy's Frozen Custard does theirs this way; I'm not certain as I've only seen it and not had it. It's certainly a great deal thicker than their Steakburger.

Goldie's serves a traditional Patty Melt on Rye with grilled onions & melted swiss
I used to frequent the one in Edmond on Broadway,
but have not been since they relocated.
Loved their pickle & pepper bar too!
Prohibition Room now has a patty melt on the lunch menu also available for dinner. Thick marble rye, american Kobe, swiss cheese and grilled carmelized onions. I hesitate to toot my own horn but it is very tasty.

I stopped by Freddy's a couple of days ago and had their patty melt. I was pretty impressed with it. They serve it on grilled rye bread and swiss cheese and grilled onions of course. I would order it again.

That sounds pretty awesome.
i like the one at Freddy's. One of the very few "chain" places i really like.
but the description of the one at the prohibition room is making my stomach very demandingly hungry.
