Easy180 12-19-2013, 05:50 PM I think it would be awesome if the location became a large vapor store...I say that because in some parts of the metro you have to drive up to two blocks to find one Anonymous. 01-06-2014, 02:25 PM So I heard from someone that they actually did sell off/give away their liquor NYE night. Have not been by there to see if it is actually closed. But sounds like they went through with what was rumored here. OKCDrummer77 01-06-2014, 02:41 PM They tweeted on NYE that it would be their last night. OKCisOK4me 01-06-2014, 03:25 PM I was wondering about this joint earlier today.... dankrutka 01-06-2014, 11:51 PM Bricktown and the CBD now have zero true sports bars (Hooters doesn't count, right?). With 41+ Thunder home games a year, this seems ridiculous. If someone stepped up with a good concept it would do amazing. Tuck, can we just get Republic Bricktown already? ;) If no one local wants to take a chance then I'd assume just see a Buffalo Wild Wings in Bricktown. betts 01-06-2014, 11:59 PM RePUBlic in Bricktown would be amazing. Pretty please, Tuck? Supposedly Urban Johnnie will be a sports bar, although its in Deep Deuce. dankrutka 01-07-2014, 12:02 AM Supposedly Urban Johnnie will be a sports bar, although its in Deep Deuce. Urban Johnnies in Deep Deuce and the Garage in Midtown will both be great additions to the core, but Bricktown needs a sports bar closer to the arena and district. Urbanized 01-07-2014, 06:05 PM He really wants/wanted to do a restaurant there but I don't think it is in the cards, for reasons I won't get into here. Not saying it absolutely won't happen, but don't pin your hopes on it. Richard at Remax 01-07-2014, 07:56 PM I guess people have different views than me of a sports bar. almost every bar in okc has some sort of multiple TV's around the bar. and if there is a local team playing or big nfl game, ect it is usually on. people wouldn't think it but I really like going to tapwerks to watch games. fox and hound and hell even hudsons sometimes. I really like wes welkers but sometimes there are too many games going on and there is constant sporadic cheering, which is fine but can get tiresome because you have to look around to guess the TV. republic is awesome but good luck finding a table during a game unless you go early. but a republic downtown would be cool. old skyy bar location? OKCisOK4me 01-07-2014, 09:40 PM To me any bar or restaurant can be a sports bar but I think the true definition of a sports bar is a bar that has all its walls plastered with sports memorabilia. That is what The Varsity (the one in 63rd and Western) was. bradh 01-07-2014, 10:16 PM I think it would be awesome if the location became a large vapor store...I say that because in some parts of the metro you have to drive up to two blocks to find one Please tell me this is a joke bradh 01-07-2014, 10:18 PM I used to like Brix, but to me it was just too generic. The chairs and big screen were nice, but you gotta find something else to stand out in the food/beverage area. Either have one or two REALLY standout menu items (never had this) or be known for an extensive collection of OKC-only beers on tap. It was just kinda forgettable, the only time I was there that it was absolutely packed was during the Big 12 hoops tourney. Jeepnokc 01-12-2014, 09:13 AM Auction set for Thursday. Brix Restaurant & Sport Lounge - Dakil Auctioneers, Inc. (http://www.dakil.com/ai1ec_event/brix-restaurant-sport-lounge?instance_id=180) HangryHippo 01-13-2014, 11:08 AM Hmm. Really hoping for something good to land here, but I'm not holding my breath. Urbanized 01-14-2014, 07:39 AM Why? OKCisOK4me 01-14-2014, 11:07 AM Why? Because. HangryHippo 01-14-2014, 02:12 PM Why? Eh, the last part was just me being negative. Disregard. Any idea who won the auction? Anonymous. 01-14-2014, 03:57 PM I am sure the auction was for each item and not the entire setup as a whole - although that does not mean one couldn't buy it all. Also the auction is this Thursday. Libbymin 01-16-2014, 04:51 PM I can tell you that they're definitely putting a Hudson's where Brix used to be. And the auction was today. Urbanized 01-16-2014, 06:04 PM Makes business sense, considering common ownership with Bricktown Brewery. OKCisOK4me 01-18-2014, 12:07 PM I can tell you that they're definitely putting a Hudson's where Brix used to be. And the auction was today. I have inside information that that is incorrect, unless I was was lied to, lol. Ginkasa 01-18-2014, 02:49 PM Since there seems to be some confusion on the future of this space, let me clarify the definitive outcome: The space will definitely, maybe, be used as possibly another sports bar type location which may, or may not, be a Henry Hudson's if it doesn't turn out to be something else. This is unless my source is lying to me, which they might or might now. I'd love for a Henry Hudson's to go downtown, I just hope that they'll pursue a concept that no other Henry Hudson's has attempted--separately ventilated rooms for smokers and non smokers. Having a Hudson's around that you can walk out of after a night of fun and not smell like a big fat cigarette would be a plus! John Knight 01-20-2014, 08:15 PM I would be very surprised if a new establishment in Bricktown, even a Henry Hudson's, was exclusively smoking. Whatever goes into that space, I would hope that it could be successful without smoking. However, nothing matters if the management staff from Brix is sticking around :) rlewis 01-21-2014, 04:00 PM I'm hearing that it is going to be a Henry Hudson's as well. The company behind Bricktown Brewery owns that building. It would make sense for them to brand it with one of their own. Anywhere that's exclusively smoking is off my list. I just can't do it. shawnw 01-22-2014, 02:16 PM Maybe it can be a new "Urban Hudsons" concept without smoking... :-) Libbymin 01-22-2014, 04:55 PM I hope my source is lying to me. I don't think your source is lying to you necessarily, but they probably don't have the most up-to-date info on it. Without divulging too much information, I know someone close within HH corporate (which also does Bricktown Brewery, S&B's, and Old Chicago's). "they" work in the main office for Henry Hudson's located in the Bricktown Brewery building. Pete 02-10-2014, 09:57 AM $100K building permit on Friday to remodel this space for a new restaurant. All the old Brix equipment was sold last month at auction. okclee 02-10-2014, 10:12 AM Demo work has already began, workers were hauling out debris last week. Easy180 02-10-2014, 10:15 AM Any chance it will be a Fox Sports Grill? Pete 02-10-2014, 10:19 AM Sounds like a Henry Hudson's. Trying to get confirmation. onthestrip 02-10-2014, 11:31 AM Not expecting much from this with only a $100,000 remodel. But I guess thats whats to be expected by Henry Hudsons. HangryHippo 02-10-2014, 11:42 AM Not expecting much from this with only a $100,000 remodel. But I guess thats whats to be expected by Henry Hudsons. Yep. JarrodH 02-11-2014, 09:39 AM $100,000 isn't anything to laugh at. I was there for the auction and the building wasn't in terrible shape. If no structural or major work has to be done, $100,000 goes a long ways in cosmetic upgrades. That number is what's submitted for building permit and usually is way off from total investment once you consider kitchen equipment, bar equipment, furniture, and audio/video. Pete 02-11-2014, 10:11 AM Correct, building permits do not include furniture, fixtures or equipment. Libbymin 02-11-2014, 02:27 PM It will be a Hudson's and my understanding is that it will be non-smoking. OKCisOK4me 02-12-2014, 03:48 PM It will be a Hudson's and my understanding is that it will be non-smoking. A non smoking Hudsons...I hope this branch is a successful location...that is if Pete confirms this is truly going to be a Hudsons. Libbymin 02-12-2014, 05:08 PM There's a notice of intent to apply for a OK County beer permit on their door now. Says it's for "Henry Hudsons Public House". Urbanized 02-12-2014, 06:23 PM Well there you go. Sorry, I promised to make it over and find out but hadn't made it yet. Pete 02-12-2014, 06:44 PM There's a notice of intent to apply for a OK County beer permit on their door now. Says it's for "Henry Hudsons Public House". Thanks! Good to know for sure. I was sworn to secrecy by a friend who is an employee of theirs and last night he told me not to say anything BUT since it's on the door... Anonymous. 02-12-2014, 11:20 PM Yup, perfect case of this forum having so many insiders and relationships with insiders on things. That we found out about a Henry Hudsons of all things, weeks early. This place rocks. BoulderSooner 02-13-2014, 08:40 AM Okay. That's good to know. Henry Hudson's doesn't sound too bad. As long as there's Coors/PBR/High Life/Molson/Labatt. Pete 03-01-2014, 07:35 AM Here is the floorplan for the new Henry Hudson's in this space: http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/henryhudsons.jpg shawnw 03-01-2014, 08:47 AM Was hoping for a few more non-smoking pool tables. I know there's four next door, but was hoping for a similar number here, though the space isn't as big as I remember so I understand. But on that note, am I the only one who wishes we had a dedicated (non-smoking) pool/dart hall in Bricktown? bradh 03-01-2014, 08:54 AM Was hoping for a few more non-smoking pool tables. If you guys are interested or know someone who might, please email me at alexbro0071@hotmail.com and I can provide you with all this info you need. Thanks! AP 03-27-2014, 01:55 PM This thread is missing an 's' in the title. Urbanized 03-27-2014, 02:21 PM Looks great, though I am puzzled by the paint not carrying on to the top or conversely the brick color making it to the ground. I'd really like either look, I think. AP 03-27-2014, 02:24 PM So, they are replacing the windows up top? In the street view (which is probably old) the are boarded up. AP 03-27-2014, 02:27 PM I do think it will look pretty cool. There was a pub similar to this in Vancouver that I thought was really awesome. OKCisOK4me 03-27-2014, 04:03 PM That looks a bit nicer than other Henry Hudson's... are they going for a more upscale version ala Urban Johnnie's? Yes. That is what I have been told by those in the know. |
