Great burger, man I wish they where still here.... I ate at the one in Tulsa, but was very dissapointed. I love a really good Bacon Cheeseburger. So I ordered their half pound bacon cheeseburger and patiently waited for my treat. But when I went to pick it up, I see this huge chunk of meat on a very nice bun, but only one slice of cheese and two strips of bacon that were so thin you could read through them. On a burger that size, I expected plenty of cheese and thick cut bacon. RealJimbo 12-23-2009, 01:43 PM I ate at the one in Tulsa, but was very dissapointed. I love a really good Bacon Cheeseburger. Order it with bacon and you've got a winner. rcjunkie 12-23-2009, 05:47 PM I had lunch today at the J&W Grill in Chickasha, I've mentioned this place before, if you haven't been, it's a must the next time your anywhere close. Always the burger. jstaylor62 12-28-2009, 08:56 AM I tried Bricktown Burgers on Wednesday and was very impressed! I ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger was impressed by the amount of the bacon and cheese on the burger. The only slight negative were the fries. I thought the regular order could have been a little bigger to accompany the quality of the burger. thelandrunner 06-25-2010, 07:19 PM Greetings! Double Meat, Double cheese, fried onions, a dollop of slaw, 1/2 order of fries, and a chocolate shake. That's a meal that's worth the 9,000 calories. Bunty 07-15-2010, 02:00 PM 1. Burger King 2. However, we ate some awesome burgers in Stratford this weekend at a place downtown called McGee's. The burger, I thought, was every bit as good as Meer's Cafe. My wife had the chicken fried steak, and it looked awesome too. The place doesn't have near the ambience as Meer's, so it's not much of a destination, but if you're ever in the area I would recommend it. chatterdude 08-14-2010, 10:14 AM hands down - 15th Street Grill, Midwest City... JerzeeGrlinOKC 08-15-2010, 05:36 PM hands down - 15th Street Grill, Midwest City... I would not call them the best burgers...but I still love that place! Celebrator 08-16-2010, 09:15 PM Although not a traditional burger from a traditional-type burger place, the Republic Burger at RePUBlic has become, I think, my favorite burger of all time. I can't believe it really, but it is AMAZING. For a more traditional one, I really like Flatire. Irma's is overrated to me (except for the black bean burger...nice). Prunepicker 08-16-2010, 09:54 PM I've deduced that calling one burger better than another is rather futile. I honestly like the burgers from every place mentioned. Food, and burgers are no exception, is a very personal thing. Some cringe at the thought of putting mustard on a bun while others want mayo. Some want a MOP burger (mustard, onions & pickles) while others want everything with mayo! We can all agree that the way the burger is prepared makes a big difference on whether or not we like it. I like a BK Whopper. Oh my, we just had 3 deaths! Johnnie's in Calumet is awesome, but so is Bunny's and Ron's and just about every other burger joint mentioned. Instead of trying to say that one is better than the other I believe we should accept that a great burger is a great burger and that the joint is going to prepare it to our liking. One of my favorite burgers is from "Dave's Big Burger" in Fairfield, CA. Dave didn't like pickles on his burger so no pickles were available. However, the burger itself was great. Oh, no fries, either. Just chips! LOL And pie! Great pie! Plenty of diverse bottled hot sauces! Chalula deserves honorary mention! A good burger is a good burger. kevinpate 08-16-2010, 09:57 PM The best burger is the one held in your paws. Very good. corwin1968 08-17-2010, 09:53 AM This may have been covered already but I don't want to read 9 pages to find out. I recently read that In-and-Out Burger is expanding to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I've also read that their growth has been limited by the fact that they won't build a restaurant more than a day's drive from their processing facility. They are also building a new processing facility in the Dallas/FW area so I expect them to start expanding outward and I'm hoping Oklahoma City is high on the list. I've never tried their burgers but I've been hearing abou them for years. One of my personal favorites is Sonic, when it's done right. The only Sonic I've found that has consistently good burgers is the one at 178th and Portland. We recently tried Rons Hamburgers and I was very impressed with it as well. I'm of the opinion that a cheeseburger should be a large diameter bun, a large diameter and thin patty, MUSTARD, lettuce, pickles, onions and tomatoes. Mayo has no place on a cheeseburger and ketchup only when it's McDonalds. metro 08-17-2010, 03:09 PM No need to dig through 9 pages, In-And-Out already has it's own thread on the topic: http://www.okctalk.com/showthread.php?t=21943 Achilleslastand 08-18-2010, 01:30 PM Ive never understood the locals obsession with Sonic. And, as for the obsession of the locals with Sonic, when they go into a new area of the country such as California they are considered the new "hip" fast food place and the locals love them. corwin1968 08-19-2010, 09:57 AM Ive never understood the locals obsession with Sonic. Sonic+bleh I would agree that the quality of Sonic's food has been going downhill but the store at Portland and NW 178th seems to be an exception to that rule. I've eaten there dozens of times in the past 14 months and it was deliscious each time! My other big complaints about Sonic are the fact that they stand your burger up on it's side so that all the toppings slide to one edge and more importantly, they seem to have turned down the syrup concentration of their softdrinks!! This has improved recently but places like McDonalds and Taco Bell have consistently good soft drinks. Not so for Sonic. BBatesokc 08-19-2010, 10:27 AM The only issue I have with fast food burgers is that for many people they have become a daily mainstay instead of an occasional guilty pleasure. Many people don't think twice about eating burgers from McD's, Sonic, Burger King etc. 4-5 times or more a week. I love a Big Mac or a Sonic double with cheese, but I doubt I have either more than once a month. When work has me venturing into a new small town I often Google the local burger joint so I can give it a try. Stan oneforone 08-29-2010, 06:50 AM I used to be one of those people until I seen my brother at family get together. He dropped 50 pounds and looked ten years younger. I asked him how he did it, he said he just simply cut his portions back, started eating less drive thru food and hit the gym 2-3 times a week. Seeing him was enough to convince me I could do it, because he has always been a chubby guy his whole life. That was about six months ago. I did the same thing and now I am 25 pounds lighter and I only eat a fast food junk food meal once a week if I am lucky. When I do eat fast food I am often going for the smaller sandwhiches and I get the medium fry not the jumbo box. I think eating is like a lot of things in life. You get used to eating the mega portion and you autmatically think you have to eat that much to get full when in realtiy you don't have to eat that much. I have retrianed my appetite to be happy with smaller portions. When I am in the mood pig out, I only go places that sell food that can be reheated or eaten cold at later time. I eat until I am at the point I am strarting fill full then I stop. I chase it glass of water and I am good. What's left over I save for later and eat it for lunch or for a snack depending on how much is left. It is really not that hard to do. After awhile you stop missing the fast food and you stop eating so much becuase your mind starts asking the question "Do you really want to eat this?" I had it happen to me tonight at work. I went to the vending machine for a snickers bar and a Dr. Pepper. As soon as I got there, I talked my self out of it and went down to the cafeteria for a fruit salad and a bottle water. USAF 10-31-2010, 02:36 PM I have tried Ima's no name, Johny's charbroiled, Ron's hamburgers, Nic's Grill and Mrs. Spriggs BBQ and Burgers. This week I'm hoping to try 15th St grill in Midwest City and McNellies on a Wednesday. Down the line, I hope to try Kobe Sliders at both the Red Prime and Musashi's. Nic's Grill has been my favorite but still wasn't perfect. I witnessed sanitation issues. I was there for 20 minutes and watched Nic wash his hands three times. However during that time he constantly was handling money, handling raw meat and grabbing the cups of customer to refill their drinks. The biggest issue is when things are handled that do not get heated such as picked up a toasted buns and adding toppings. There were also a number of black flies landing on the toppings and also the cutting board in front of the toppings. I don't care, I'm not a health inspector, but could understand if that bothered someone. Overall a great burger. tburn 11-03-2010, 12:37 PM I did a quick search in this thread and didnt' see any mention of S&B's Burger Joint! They have been open about 1 year - They are at NW 59th & May -- ground floor of the office building that is in the parking lot near Best Buy. (Previously Electro Lounge). They make great full size burgers and sliders -- creative toppings and each week a new special feature burger. Their "Fatty" is made like the onion burgers in El Reno! Tuesdays they do a "pay it forward" and pick a local charity and donate proceeds for that day. tuck 11-03-2010, 01:05 PM I have tried Ima's no name, Johny's charbroiled, Ron's hamburgers, Nic's Grill and Mrs. Spriggs BBQ and Burgers.
