Is there one yet?

Saw OKC Thunder things selling in Target and realize I didn't see any plush mascot available. I did notice they changed the plain white THUNDER to a more colorful outlines.

My vote is for Marvel Comics Thor, god of thunder.

No mascot until after the first of the year, is what the team said. I'm sure, after they had such negative responses to the logo and colors, they're being very careful picking the right mascot. I know they like to keep things secret, but a focus group wouldn't hurt, if there's more than one they're considering. A focus group probably could have prepared them for the fact that people weren't going to like the logo.

That being said, I don't even think about the logo anymore. And I like the colors, so that was probably much ado about not very much.

mascot should debut after the all star game.

I heard after the all star game too. I imagine the delay is because of the logo fiasco. I agree betts, a simple focus group would have solved so many problems for Bennett and Co. It baffles me how such an organization can make such mistakes. Anyhow I heard a rumor (haven't googled yet to verify), that Golden State Warriors had to retire their Thor mascot recently. If this is true, I wonder if that was so OKC could possibly use that mascot?

The Warriors mascot was retired because of the name conflict. They called him "Thunder". From what I have read elswhere an NBA approved team name takes precidence over a mascot name, so GS had to do away with "Thunder" the mascot.

Here is one article I found about the mascot. Just be forewarned it has nothing nice to say about the OKC Thunder.

Warriors give Thunder his walking papers (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/10/02/SPM413AETD.DTL&feed=rss.warriors)

The mascot has been picked out and the costume has to be made and as stated before, will probably be introduced after the all star game. Since the Thunder is building a new identity, the owners group is taking it one step at a time.

The Hornets set the bar high the two years they were in the Ford Center, but the Thunder is slowly getting the fan entertainment up to speed. Some activities may be waiting on sponsorship. Remember the Hornets had the Mid-First sponsored signs for cash, Best Buy sponsored best dancer, bat spin and kids musical chairs, etc.

I looked at the pictures of the Former Golden state mascot.
I hope he stays in San Fran Freako. Please don't relocate him (or her)
you never know in the Bay Area.

I think it would be fine not having a mascot.

Nice.

Like they'd want to come here anyway.

Karried,
it was a joke...
However that is a very lame mascot.
Looks like the guy in the office party that lost a bet.
