Cooking isn't going to work out this year. Anyone have recommendations and know which restaurants will be open? Thx!

I have friends that go to Golden Corral every year on Thanksgiving. They swear by it. They say the food is great and you don't have to cook it (or clean it up)!

I have been to the Furr's in Moore and it was good - and I usually don't like eating there.

This is kind of in the same vein but Mackie Mcnear's is also open. I guess buffets are big on Thanksgiving. Any word if they let you pop the top button of your pants and watch Football all day?

I'm not a great fan of buffets, but I agree with your recommendation of Furr's in Moore. Better quality than most buffet places.

TJIFridays is open for most holidays. It was open for Christmas last year. We spent it in the hospital and it was the only decent place we could find to have our holiday dinner.

Love their rolls, especially when they're hot and fresh. I think the best run Golden Corral is the one in Midwest City. They keep the place clean and the management is always on top of things there.

Most of the hotels have a nice Thanksgiving buffet (Skirvin does as well). Furrs is also on NW 63rd and May. There's quite a selection for Thanksgiving dining these days. I'd check the Gazette the week before Thanksgiving, there are usually plenty of restaurants and hotels advertising Thanksgiving dining options.

We did Marie Callendars in Norman one year when it was just my Mom and I. It was good (better than buffet quality) but it was about $20 per person.

Oh yeah, they're good, I forgot about them. I dunno if Mimi's is open on Thanksgiving, but if they are, they have excellent food there too, IMO.

I never went on Thanksgiving, but I will miss that place also... Best salad bar I have ever had!

We always go to the Biltmore Hotel on S Meridian. They have a buffet but the food is really good and not overly priced. The Embassy Suites also has a great buffet on holidays. I hate Western Sizzlin, and Steak and Ale is gone.

Not to threadjack, but if you think S&A had the best salad bar, you need to check out Fogo de Chao if you're ever down in Dallas/Austin/Houston.

If you want to travel outside of OKC, I have gone to Roman Nose state park many years for christmas and thanksgiving. It is about 1.5 hours outside of OKC. The only reason we went so much is my grandparents lived in the area and we would meet them there. It was pretty good, but I have had much better in OKC.

Fogo de Chao website looks good. How expensive are they and any recommendations on what to try?

I 2nd Furr's in Moore as a Thanksgiving alternative. They also have quite the breakfast brunch also. I was surprised by the quality of the food as well as atmosphere. Furr's in Moore definitely aimed to make it feel more high end than one would expect. I'm not saying it's like eating at the Ritz but certainly a place I would not have any problem taking any of my friends and family to dine.

It's about $50 a person and that includes the all you can 'meat' and the salad bar, which you can get filled up on by itself. You get to try everything, though. Nothing to really order.

We had our Thanksgiving dinner was at Mi Mi's on Memorial Rd today. Fortunatly we had reservations or there would have been a 90 minute wait. Food and service were excellent. Price was $15 each. I would highly reccommend Mi Mi's. Thanks for all the suggestions and I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and can button their pants tomorrow! <G> (anybody up for some more pie? <LOL>)

I went to Riverwind in Norman today... wow... that was a cluster F___! They at one point actually carved a turkey that was raw.... waited in line 25 minutes just to get to the food, and the dessert lady... wow... dont get me started on her.
