Underwater lights attraction. Possibly dyed water during the holidays.

I know there is a city that dyes their river GREEN for St. Patricks Day, but never heard of any rivers being illumiated underwater at night.

Metro? Few weeks gone and passed...Ready to own up to your "insider info"?

to be a serious note, maybe they are planning a fire and water show, some other places that have a river along tourist area has stuff like that, a water and fire show would be neat

I was thinking of that, too, along the water, and fire as in part of Devon natural gas.

I'm totally way more in the know than you are. I actually know about an even bigger river project than the one you're referring to(which I also happen to know about, otherwise how could I know mine's bigger?). Can't tell you, though but you'll see - it is going to be AWESOME, and when it happens you'll know I was the one who knew about it before you did because I know lot's of important people.

Best post ever. You have to just read metro's posts with a sense of humour.

I know the city will build inlets on the north bank about 30 million dollars worth, this should really be cool and needs to be completed before the new boat houses can get started.

I told you guys metro made this post a long time ago so he can get some kind of satisfaction for knowing whatever this project first.

not surprisingly that post was deleted.

if you got something to say then say it. its not like the whole city is reading this board. its a group of hardcore folks that like to discuss projects and new stuff coming to our city. thats why its here.

so don't pull that "I know something you don't know" crap. Makes you look like a five year old.

You must not have gone back and read many OLD posts. I've announced plenty of things on here before the media. Steve can vouch for me on that. There ARE lots of higher ups that do read this board whether you realize it or not. People at the City, Chamber, DOKC, State Chamber, tv stations and newspapers, heck even several reporters admitted they get their leads from this site. I've been on this board long enough to prove myself and that has been evidenced in numerous posts. I'm the highest posted poster for a reason, and it's not because I spew crap all day long, others have said this before that I may not be the most liked, but I back it up with actions. I'm heavily involved the city, involved in numerous organizations, ran for city council and others, so I'm not some internet troll like half of you talking trash. Go back and spend time reading threads years old and then speak please.

Hint: River project will include some permanent fixtures like grandstands, lighting and sound that's all I'm saying for now.

Amphitheater, which was announced long ago???

metro

Nope, I wish it was the amphitheatre, but it is not. Also, the amphitheatre was NOT announced along time ago, it was mere speculation, dream, long-term planning and wishful thinking that hopefully one day we will have one along the river. No definitive plans have ever been created for one.

Oklahoma City to host USRowing's new high-performance training center
Fri Oct 03, 2008 By USRowing

[more.............]

The University of Central Oklahoma boathouse will provide additional classroom and educational facilities for the High Performance Center and will be the site for Paralympic training.

Plans for both the UCO boathouse and a University of Oklahoma boathouse are still under development. The boathouses are being built as part of a master plan development, which includes the three new boathouses, a finish line tower, permanent lighting and grandstands on the Oklahoma River.

“Development of the river and initiatives such as the High Performance Center are a direct result of Oklahoma City’s business and civic community coming together to provide support,” explained Mike Knopp, executive director of the Oklahoma City Boathouse Foundation. “Specifically, Devon Energy, Chesapeake Energy and OG&E are providing funding for the Oklahoma City Boathouse Foundation as we work with USRowing in bringing the High Performance Center here.”

Oklahoma City Boathouse Foundation has an ongoing fundraising initiative to provide financial support for long-range planning and development of the master plan along the Oklahoma River.

[more............]

This can't be the project he's talking about though because it's already been covered back in early October by the Oklahoman, the Gazette, ESPN, USRowing, and any other media outlet that has any stake in the issue of rowing or OKC.

During the 1980s, the String of Pearls project wanted to see an amusement park placed where the AICCM is currently being built. However, the lot next to them across the street is still vacant for a potenial Gymnastics Hall of Fame or amusement park.

true, but I have also posted plenty of threads of insider information that appeared here long before the media did an article. You can' ask Steve on that one. Sometimes he knows about it and can't right, sometimes he doesn't as other journalist who frequent this site. Go back and search some old threads. Being friends with a lot of the people who are doing these projects (or being involved in organizations or a volunteer), helps!

That is a good portion of what I'm referring to, but at that point it was mere talk and no financing in place. You all have to keep in mind a lot of the river projects and C2S projects are hype, talk and mere speculation. Yes there have been drawings, renderings, videos and ideas, but most of it is mere dreaming trying to drive up interest, not actual plans! I've seen some conceptual drawings and some other things but part of what I'm referring to is still being finalized and has not been announced.

If you really are talking about the new boathouses/finish line area, then it was quite a stretch for you to make this thread and act as if you had insider information about some mystery project that nobody had ever heard about.

Why didn't you just say, "hey, I have some new details about the boathouse row and I'll share them when I can."
