View Full Version : Who's on Facebook?
I was more or less dragged into social networking sites by my triathlon friends who were constantly posting practice/race photos to their pages... And I had to register to view.
But now, I'm pretty much hooked. I strongly prefer Facebook over MySpace, because the latter yields pages that are ridiculously cluttered and annoying and at least FB has a clean, organized design.
I'm planning to set up an OKCTalk group so add me as a friend (same name as used here: Pete Brzycki) if you want to be a part -- or if you just want to build connections.
BTW, I've thought hard about building in a social networking component to this site, centered around OKC people. That may still happen down the road.

Thanks for all the friend requests. When you send them, be sure to include your screenname here in a note so I can make the connection.
Thanks.

You can't be talking about the "new" facebook. The old one was so clean and nice...now its crap. But I'm still a FB Fan. Member since 2004.

ddavidson8 09-23-2008, 12:39 PM I am. Dan Davidson. Add me if you like.

I don't understand all the hatred of the new layout. Same thing happens every time they make changes. I think it's much cleaner because it puts all the "boxes" on a separate page, and it combines the wall with the news feed.
I don't have as much time invested in the old layout, so the new one doesn't bother me much.
And no matter, it's still a million times better than MySpace. Most the pages there are seizure-inducing.
donbroncho 09-23-2008, 04:28 PM oh boy now everyone is going to have a face w/ a name...just wish i had a better picture lol
rocknout89 09-26-2008, 04:15 PM everyone is on facebook...all young people anyways...well except for me

kevinpate 10-23-2008, 06:08 AM my spouse and daughter hang over there. I generally only pop in to enjoy pictures of our most excellent Emery, a perfect granddaughter if ever there was one, just like her momma and her momma's momma, and her momma too. :)
reavolution 10-23-2008, 06:48 PM I've been on Facebook a long time...since my Ohio State days (not that long ago, haha).
Intrepid 10-23-2008, 08:34 PM I'm on both FB and MS
SoonerQueen 10-23-2008, 11:26 PM I'm on both Myspace and Facebook too. I like them both but for different reasons.
OKCisOK4me 11-06-2008, 04:32 PM I'm a MS man. I have facebook to stay connected to the family members that wont do MS.
I just think it's because people don't understand html and how to make a kickass page. I didn't know at first. Just learned.
jbrown84 11-06-2008, 07:17 PM Most of my friends these days are cold to myspace and liking Facebook much better.
Midtowner 11-06-2008, 09:13 PM I'm on facebook, but no offense folks, there are some real nutjobs on okctalk. I prefer whatever degree of anonymity I can maintain.
CuatrodeMayo 11-07-2008, 12:25 AM just unfriend them...
I have =)

I understand that. On other forums I have a link to my MS page but if you click it, it will just go to my page that is privatized, that of which you can only view if you're already one of my friends.
NE Oasis 11-07-2008, 07:46 AM I'm a Facebooker. Tried to do MySpace, kept getting too many e-mails from nut-jobs (sorry Mid, couldn't resist) asking to be my friend but were nothjing more than links to porn.
bornhere 11-14-2008, 09:37 PM I tried to do myspace, too. I kept getting what I thought were links to porn but they kept turning out to be friends.
Intrepid 11-15-2008, 07:36 AM I'm on facebook, but no offense folks, there are some real nutjobs on okctalk. I prefer whatever degree of anonymity I can maintain.
:LolLolLol
taylor83 11-15-2008, 11:25 AM Facebook here, since '04. I'm on MySpace too but I hardly ever use it these days.
drumsncode 11-15-2008, 12:31 PM I must be missing something in Facebook. I have a Xanga account, and blogging is very easy. I have a MySpace account and blogging is very easy. I don't see how to blog on Facebook. It must be staring me right in the face, or they call it something odd.
Does Facebook let you write blog entries?
bishop186 11-17-2008, 09:28 AM I have just about everything, though I don't use much of it now.
Facebook still has a college feel to me. It has that "I use Facebook, but I hate it!" feel to it like so many hipster foundations.
MySpace, to me, is the ghetto of the internet. Bad code, bad music, and bad people.
All the majors have a blogging function nowadays.

Yes, they call it "notes".
jungllejane 11-17-2008, 09:01 PM im on myspace and facebook...
drumsncode 11-18-2008, 09:20 AM Yes, they call it "notes".
Thanks!
I've used a lot of user-interfaces in my day, but Facebook just seems exceptionally foreign to me.
MySpace these days is so locked down by most people that you can't even send them a message without first being accepted as a "Friend", so that kinda stinks.
Xanga is my favorite for a couple reasons. The blogging facility is excellent. The pages load very fast because they run the site on Microsoft .NET technology, and you get a footprint tracking log that shows where your hits are coming from and what pages are being viewed.
Unless MySpace has added something like that recently, they are miles behind and their bug-list is a mile long. It feels like MySpace is just held together with chewing gum and bailing wire.
Few people talk about Xanga anymore, but it's a very solid product.
nik4411 11-18-2008, 03:47 PM I prefer facebook to myspace, but facebook has gone down over the last couple of years, I kind of liked it better when it was mostly for college students.
