Oklahoma City has signed C.J. Miles from the Jazz for a 4-year deal worth $15 million dollars. Talk about adding some excitement - that guy can is the long bomber! 30%+ on three-pointers! Put him in there with some of our other young guys, Durant, Green and Russell Westbrook and folks, we've got the makings of one heck of an exciting basketball team!

The Jazz still has a chance to match the deal, but word is their salary situation would push them into a luxury tax, so we'll probably get him.

Here's the take from Salt Lake City:

This sounds a little promising

*He showed flashes of his potential during a 10-game stretch at the end of December and beginning of January. With Gordan Giricek banished by Jazz coach Jerry Sloan, Miles stepped in and averaged 10.5 points on 55.6 percent shooting*

The Utah posters on the article seem to think this guy can play if given the chance

He just needs time to develop. The kid came straight out of high school and has had troubles with the coach since his first season. I think Carlesimo is just the kind of coach he needs. If he had gone on to UT, like everyone thought, he would have been a Durant teammate. Ironic, huh? I think this is a great pickup by Presti.

Here's a nice CJ Miles mix. Seems pretty versatile and more than just an outside threat.

I'm no shot expert by any means but he does seem to have a pretty sweet stroke

Looks like he may give us some Desmond Mason type dunks

This team has some potential

Would anyone else be totally dissapointed by another 20-62 season???

Can u say Blake Griffin?

I'm not sure they can have a season that disappoints me. I was prepared for something like 20-62 when the Hornets were first here, and I'll be thrilled to have our own team no matter what their record. With the lottery, the odds of us getting Griffen are still rather random, but that would be a great thing for the team, so a lousy season is not the end of the world.

And, to stay on topic, Miles looks interesting at worst.

C. J. Miles is out of Skyline High School in Dallas, a modest 3 hour drive from OKC (Watchout for Garvin County--Paul Valley) drive under the limit.

The OKC crowd will get him pumped up, and relatives and friends will come to see him play.

Presti, you've done it again. Great move!

At $15 million dollars over four years, he sure as hell better be more than interesting!

Kind of reminds me of a rich man's Rasual Butler.

This guy was signed out of high school and really hasn't jelled.

Having a new environment and players who he wants to be around, and a college screaming crowd; just might be the ingediences that C. J. Miles needs.

Looks like we are out of luck...Utah matched the offer at the last minute today

Oh well...Sure Miles is disappointed since he would have had a much better chance to start but then again getting a massive raise out of the blue probably helps him get over it pretty quickly

Yeah, a couple million extra is always welcome.

The most immediate effect on the Jazz, other than increasing payroll, is that Morris Almond will be spending more time in the D-League. And Sam Presti still has the full mid-level exception to play with.

But CJ Miles wasn't actually signed in OKC was he? he was signed to a qualifying offer that the Jazz matched, I hear they're going to go after JR Rider though
