An Oklahoma City manufacturer of road building equipment said it will add 400 jobs during the next decade after joining the Oklahoma Commerce Department's Quality Jobs program.
Terex Roadbuilding, home base for the six-location roadbuilding division of Westport, Conn.-based Terex Corp., manufactures and distributes asphalt plants, asphalt pavers, concrete plants and pavers, mixer trucks and landfill compactors for both the asphalt and concrete markets.
The company is growing through expansions in the South American market, where road construction is booming, Larry Jack, Terex's marketing director, said. Terex also ships its products to Russia, the Netherlands, Australia, India, Angola and Saudi Arabia. Today, 60 percent of the company's revenues are outside of North America, Jack said.
The company is looking to fill production positions, including welders and machinists, said Frank Wilson, the company's human resources director.
Pay for welders varies with experience and the industry. Terex did not supply a pay range.
The company earlier this year said it had open positions for mechanical, industrial and electrical engineers and production supervisors.
Terex will qualify for more than $5 million in rebates for adding the jobs, the Commerce Department said.
