07.7.2008 - Updated on 07.7.2008
The first visible sign of Oklahoma City’s new NBA team will be seen this week.
The soon-to-be named team will wear NBA-OKC jerseys in this week’s Orlando Pro Summer League, which kicks off with Oklahoma City taking on the Indiana Pacers at 2 p.m. today. The league runs through Friday.
The NBA has approved the use of the generic jerseys throughout the team’s five-game summer league schedule rather than have the team wear what is now an outdated Sonics jersey following last week’s settlement between the team and city of Seattle that made the franchise’s relocation official.

CCOKC 07-07-2008, 05:57 PM Those jerseys aren't as bad as I thought they would be. Both teams are just wearing scrimmage jerseys anyway and not the official unis.

Looks great! I'm excited about going to see a game.
Thunder 07-07-2008, 10:00 PM They choose the color, black, so does anyone think that the name of the team will be weather related?
HOT ROD 07-07-2008, 10:47 PM Naah, I think it was just convenient - since black is easy and is pretty far from anybody else's colours.

Our mascot could hang itself during the half-time show.
dalelakin 07-08-2008, 12:01 AM Look at all of the recent color changes for either expansion teams or redesigns of existing teams there is a common denominator. The color black. It has been proven in studies to be the most marketable color to today's youth. Anyone care to guess who buys the most jerseys? Uh yup as cousin Vinny would say yutes. I would say black is a lock as one of the colors if not the main.

We're gonna need lots of mascots, one for each game show. lol

It's possible, but I wouldn't guarantee it. Look at the jerseys Indiana is wearing. They aren't their traditional blue and gold. Black is a just a safe color as someone else mentioned. I wouldn't be surprised as they said as it would be a more marketable color than say green and gold. I hope they take posters advice on ESPN.com and go with a more universal name like Energy or United and come up with a crest or seal for a logo. It would have a huge appeal globally instead of a tornado or something that would only have some local appeal.
