I think there is an old thread discussing their plans to franchise out nationally.

Found it:

I think Jimmy's Egg is a winner for all.
There's very few reasons I will get up early on my day off, and breakfast at Jimmy's is one of them.
I live right near the one on N May just past memorial and it's almost comical, but people have gotten so used to
waiting in line for a table, that i've seen people bring a book or magazine with them just have something to do while waiting.
It's not that the service is bad mind you, I think that staff does really well, but there's just THAT many people showing up all at once.
They must be doing something right.

Jimmy’s Egg sees growth
Oklahoma-based Jimmy’s Egg opened three new restaurants in March, one each in Moore, Broken Arrow and Wichita, Kan., the company said. Four Jimmy’s Egg restaurants also are under development and expected to open in July in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas. Tough economic times are a boon to the restaurant chain, which focuses on fresh products, large portions and low prices, one of its franchisees said. Jimmy’s Egg is open daily 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Does not liking it now count (even though its not national yet)? I dunno, its like Denny's to me. Nothing special at all. Then again I don't like breakfast food. Unless its brunch at Pearl's or La Baguette. Yum!

Anyhoo, like it or not, Jimmy's Egg gone national is a positive thing, that would be cool.

Someone told me that the old Denny's on Main St in Norman will soon become a Jimmy's Egg.

Is this true?

Thanks

If that is the diner from Moore then yes. I do believe that is what it is called. I knew it started with an J but couldn't remember. I HOPE it is 24 hours though. We need WAY more 24 hour places in Norman.

CCOKC is right on that one.

Saying that the first one "failed" would be very inaccurate... the same goes for Sunnyside Up... if it wasn't for the Norman City Council, we might still have them here instead of in Moore!

Jimmy's Egg is the local version of Denny's, they are awesome. They've been recruited to do national franchises but have declined. Grand House is great dimsum/chinese food, the original is in the Asian district in OKC.

Hasn't been too long since we got one on the West side at the old Denny's location. Drove down Alameda today and they are going to be adding another location in the old Blockbuster space next to Little Caesars and the Custard Factory. It's not much, and not everyone cares for them, but at least it is another place to eat on the East side.

I noticed them tearing out the old BBusters after I had been camped out with a Micky D's soda the other morning. I was just reading and sipping while waiting on someone to finish a nearby appointment. Didn't know it was going to be a Jimmy's Egg. Will be nice to have a new morning camp option when I am over that way.

A major expansion is in the works.

http://m.newsok.com/article/5510138

Jimmy's Egg has signed six new franchise agreements to double the size of the Oklahoma-based restaurant chain and expand into three new states.

Edmond-based Jimmy's Egg Franchise Systems said Monday that it had signed six new area development agreements to open 52 restaurants in Kansas, Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico, Nebraska and Iowa.

Gross. As in, gag me with a greasy spoon gross. I saw the bag where they get their "sausage" crumbles. If the right person speaks up they'll end up calling it "pork topping" like Pizza Hut.

I'll roll with it and get back on topic. I've not eaten at a Jimmy's Egg in years. I hate the toast. It would be AMAZEBALLS if they didn't overcook and dry it out every time. Also their biscuits and gravy are terrible.

Anyone know what is going on with Jimmy's egg and why they still haven't opened. I work near by and the rumor was wiring issues. They were supposed be open Mid March. It's now Mid April. Thats a big Oops if true.

Stopped in there Sunday 7-9-17 at 11am and it was pretty dead. Heard one of the services tell the table next to me that yeah they are not a very busy store. I drive by everyday around 11 and it never looks busy. Might be a bad Location?

Plus, they have lots more breakfast competition these days.

Jimmy's Egg has been wildly inconsistent for me. I very much disliked the one in Yukon, and I'll never forgive them for attempting to serve me raw potatoes for the hashbrowns and then claim it was because the kitchen was 'too busy'. Too busy to cook the food? Screw you. Then the one in Mustang opened and it was fabulous. Until the day they served me what they claimed was chicken fried steak. I don't know what it was, but I know what it wasn't, and that's chicken fried steak. It's now to the point where when I enter a Jimmy's Egg, it's a flip of a coin how it's going to be. I feel they should look at addressing that.

I've never had a bad experience at the one on Classen and NW Expressway. It was the go-to spot for Sunday breakfast for my wife and me for quite some time with it being only a couple of blocks from my house.

Used to be one of my favorite breakfast spots but has fallen near the bottom of the list in the last few years for the reason someone mentioned above.... The breakfast scene in OKC has improved quite a bit.... For diner breakfast these days it's pretty much Sherri's Diner.

I used to frequent the 16th & May location when I lived down that way, from the early 80's up to about 15 years ago. It was always good back then. And you could watch the cooking going on.

After moving out Arcadia way, we used to stop in at the 2nd & Bryant location, and it was always pretty good there. But haven't been there in quite some time.

Since moving into Edmond, we've been to the location on Broadway in Edmond several times and it was just ok, but the last time, the sevice was so bad we walked out after ordering and won't be back.

This location is in my hood and my wife keeps wanting to go but...I've never had an experience at JE that made me want to go back. I don't remember any really bad experiences, just none I thought were all that good. Admittedly, it's been years since I set foot in one. Thus far, I've avoided visiting this location too, but I did think about it yesterday when I passed by if I should try it one more time.

They're franchising now, but it was founded in OKC. Their headquarters are in Edmond, I believe.

I would say local, as I remember when Jimmy was working for the ATSFRR as a “carman” at the repair track at 36th street in 1978, or so, before he started Jimmy’s Egg!

Jimmy's Egg is local born. From what I've been told, Vietnamese immigrant and rail road employee Loc Le bought a failing restaurant at NW 16th and May Ave. Which was either a Beverly's from the remnants of the "Chicken In The Rough" days, or a single diner called Jimmy's, I've hear both versions. This was in the early 1980s. The family got involved and their hard work and dedication have gotten them to where they are today.

Pretty sure it was a single diner called "Jimmy's Cafe", because if it had been a Beverly's, then why would it be named "Jimmy's Egg/Cafe"? I think I read in the OKC Restaurants book that it was "Jimmy's Cafe", owned by a guy named Jimmy, and he wanted out of the business, so he sold it to Loc Le, who changed the name to "Jimmy's Egg" and started an empire. Could be wrong, but I'll check next time I see the book in a store/library, there doesn't seem to be anything online.
