danielf1935 02-12-2009, 02:24 PM The only car dealership I remember in this area was Eskridge Honda, they moved to I-240 several years ago. Redskins/General 02-12-2009, 03:00 PM They use to be Eskridge Oldsmobile before they changed to HOnda. Roland Motors across the street on Walker had the 56 chevy with two front ends - couldn't tell if it was coming or going.... Prunepicker 02-12-2009, 03:12 PM Oh, I got it alright... although I'm a product of the OKC Public school system, I did get somes smarts! I'm sure your yearbook will have a lot of advertisers on S. Penn... I wonder why? LOL I'll look and see. You're probably right since you went to school before... well... you know... Generals64 02-12-2009, 04:47 PM Safeway!! at least it was when I was a kid.. Yep, you're right it was a Safeway with the round top...Burned in the lated 60's Generals64 02-12-2009, 04:49 PM They use to be Eskridge Oldsmobile before they changed to HOnda. I kept think Bolen Olds..I saw my first 442 at that dealership......couldn't get the name to register...Thanks ...Where have you been? I bought a 442 there in 1975....shiny black with a gold strip down the hood and trunk...also had swivel seats. Loved that car!!! ~~~ FRISKY 02-12-2009, 05:06 PM Where have I been!!! Where have YOU BEEN????????????Did you guys work together at TG&Y? If so...my condolences... LOL I don't know how you remember so many names and businesses from that section of town. I can't remember what they put on the corner last week.............. Generals64 02-12-2009, 05:30 PM You guys were talking about Across The Street. I remember it so vividly, and especially one night when I was there with my older sisters (USG '62 and '63). They were already out in the working world by then, and there was a high school kid there with what looked like his girlfriend and another guy. He had apparently gotten into a fender bender on the way over to the restaurant, in the fmaily car. He was sitting in the booth behind us, really "cussing" alot, probably not horrible according to today's standards but enough to burn my ears at that time (probably 1966 or so?). My sister Shirley went and told the manager, who warned them to keep it clean. When we got ready to leave, Shirley went over to the kids and apologized for going to the manager, but told them that she was concerned about the language since I was there. They apologized for their language, and Shirley told the boy not to worry, that his parents will cool down and everything would be okay. He thanked her for that. Food wise, what I really remember most was their Suzy-Qs and the "400" drink (chocolate milk, a little soda, and ice). Can't believe this "little thread" has grown to almost 30K views! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ TERI:....I hate to admt it but, I was the guy in that booth. What happened was my sister-in-law (NO DRIVER'S LICENSE) told me that he mother said it was fine for her to practice....The other girl had "Taken" her parents car. The "Cussing" was from the two girls and I think I probably yelled a bit at them both as I was the one that was going to get in trouble. the other girl made a turn too fast off of 59th street and hit us....Both cars were BRAND NEW. I remember the manager coming over and telling us to calm down. Both set of Parents finally showed......they decided to handle everything each and not tell their insurance companies. I figured I was in deep trouble...But, I hadn't called the police and no one got a ticket.....The other girl's parents tried to pay me compensation ( turned them down)....My in-Laws took us out to eat and made the little sister stay at home and she was grounded for quite some time. Sorry if the language got out of hand....but anyway....It was me....Come see us next Saturday if you can get out of the Northside area... MonkeyBiz6903 02-12-2009, 05:40 PM I found ads for LeMac TV at 2321 S. Robinson in 1961; found other ads at 2408 S. Western in 1969....so they must have moved sometime in between. And you are right MonkeyBiz6903...Bob McKillips did own it. His daughter Edyie was once married to Paul Newsom, the AutoMax commercial guy, another SE grad. ~~~ He had another daughter, that worked for Dr. R.G. Hamilton. Jeannine, I think her name was, last I heard she married one of the Trosper family. Generals64 02-12-2009, 05:56 PM He had another daughter, that worked for Dr. R.G. Hamilton. I rmember it being quite the thing to just specialize in televisions. My parents bought our first TV from LeMac and that had to be sometime in the 50's..I think... SoonerGirl26 02-12-2009, 06:43 PM After thinking about it, I think that may have just been Lee's TV and Appliance? Rickster 02-12-2009, 10:09 PM Yeah Lemac was down on western not to far from coits drive in I remember this Lemac. Last time I was in there I believe was in the late '70s. VCR's were just coming out and they were selling them for about $1100.00. Ouch. Generals64 02-13-2009, 06:09 AM This is Real Old (to me)....But remember the large disc players for movies? i bought one before the VCR came out and once you saw all the available movies it became an obsolete piece of equipment. Didn't last very long.....Now in my infinite wisdom, I have a complete selection of VHS Disney tapes.....here we go again. The past will present itself...... FRISKY 02-13-2009, 08:08 AM This is Real Old (to me)....But remember the large disc players for movies? Laserdisc? Laserdisc - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laserdisc) There was a scene in the movie “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” where the animators showed Jessica Rabbit without clothes on. That frame was only on the Laserdisc version of the movie...or at least that is what I read in a movie magazine. MonkeyBiz6903 02-13-2009, 09:59 AM was his name Gary Long Gary Long passed away. His mom and dad, Virgil and Rose started the shop. His brother John died in the early 60's. I think a car fell on him, and then had a heart attack after the fact. They had a Boxer named Speedy that would eat cigarettes. My dad worked over there in 59'. Redskins/General 02-13-2009, 10:32 AM Are you talking about the "flying dutchman"?
