Rickster 02-10-2009, 06:28 PM maybe in an old motorcourt on the nw corner of 33rd & robinson?
in the 80's, i knew that as tulio's... but i think it was originally an el charrito.
-M
That has been a restaurant for many years. My family went there when I was a little boy. I believe it was El Charrito back then also. I may be wrong.
:poke:
grantgeneral78 02-10-2009, 06:28 PM That's what I was thinking too... El Charrito's. On the SE corner of that intersection was an old "plaster of paris" place....anyone know if it is still there?
~~
Yeah El Charitto.....I try and distance myself from plaster paris joints...wait to chickie!
:LolLolLol

It was originally a El Charrito, then changed to El Chico in the mid-70's, then Tulio's in the 80's. Anyone know what is there now?

i believe it's currently vacant, but i'm pretty sure the last place there was called something like 'puerta vallarta'...

Plaster of Paris place, Was J&J outlet closed years ago far as I know. Was owned by Jim Nutt. My ex-wife use to go there all the time:doh:
grantgeneral78 02-10-2009, 06:43 PM my father in law ate there all the time when it was El Charittos, Also on shields by S.E. was there not a dairy boy at one time?
Prunepicker 02-10-2009, 06:52 PM I just remembered a mexican restaurant we used to got to in the late 70`s it was
on about 32 and robinson for the life of me I cannot remember the name of
it.
El Charrito! It was in the Placido (?) or Placienda Apartments. Awesome! I saw
Jorge, the maitre d', a few years ago. He was still working at Mexican restaurants.
Prunepicker 02-10-2009, 06:54 PM I don't know if it's Berger or Burger, that was a question!
A rose by any other name still stinks reel purdy.

danielf1935 02-10-2009, 07:19 PM I remember my parents taking us to eat mexican food at a little place just S. of Downtown, around SW 3rd, 4th, or 5th, it was a block or two East of Western. I think it was also called El Charrito

I think that was called The Bakery or something to that effect. Yes, it was very
good.
The downtown El Charrito was on Couch Drive just west of Walker. Sometimes,
when they're really on, Nino's reminds me of El Charrito.

Yes, that was it. I thought it had a "J" in it. I used to go there all the time in the early 70's...when all the Spanish stuff was "in". I made a bull and a matador for my coffee table!! Boy weren't those the days!!! LOL

Redskins/General 02-10-2009, 08:12 PM Opps, we all forgot how to spell it....sorry, and thanks for the correction.

I know it wasn't called the Bakery, I'm almost positive that it was El Charitto, this would have been in the mid to late 60's.

Prunepicker 02-11-2009, 01:12 PM Long ago, after the flood, there was a kids TV show that had Froggy Gremlin. I

east on 44th about 2-3 blocks is a little store front. in the 70's was a chineese resteraunt. Family ran operation, kids always sat at one booth,
no table in front. If a tea glass went below 1/2, grandma would come out from the kitchen and scramble the kids.

I found ads for LeMac TV at 2321 S. Robinson in 1961; found other ads at 2408 S. Western in 1969....so they must have moved sometime in between.
And you are right MonkeyBiz6903...Bob McKillips did own it. His daughter Edyie was once married to Paul Newsom, the AutoMax commercial guy, another SE grad.
