I have a co-worker who just moved from Kansas City and is lookin for a Mongolian Bar-B-Q place that KC had and was wondering if we had anything like it. I said i didn't know of one, but i know the perfect place to ask. i never heard of such a place so it is going to take some description...so here it goes:
At buffet line with a bowl....
(1) take some raw meat......fish steak, chicken, etc
(2) take some raw veggies.....celery, onions, broccoli, etc.
(3) take some spices.....soy sauce, cumin, salt, etc.
(4) take recipe cards....optional
(5) Take your bowl full of goodies to the chef at the open kitchen in the
middle of the room where he/she cooks the food you prepared, right in
front of you.
(6) take your food to the dining table and enjoy.
I know of Shoguns(sp?) and places like that, that cooks your food in front of you, but i never heard of picking out you own food like that. Do we have anything like this in OKC? I think it sounds pretty good myself.

There's a place in Midwest City, on Air Depot north of 15th, I believe.

I believe your friend is talking about BD's mongolian BBQ. They don't have any in Oklahoma yet. Their website is bd's mongolian barbeque (http://www.gomongo.com)

You're talking about the Golden Palace I think. They have Chinese buffet, a Vietnamese food buffet (small) and the Mongolian food where you pick your own meats and vegetables that they cook while you watch.

I like the place on NW Expressway just east of Rockwell. I can't remember the name of the place but it's just next door and west of Slick Willie's pool hall and Audio Plus. They have pretty good mongolian BBQ. There is a chinest buffet place on Council and NW Expressway (across from the Burger King), they also have a pretty decent Mongolian BBQ area of their buffet. The quality of the ingredients of both these places is pretty good and above average from most places.

There is a Chinese buffet tucked into in Norman's Bookhaven Square (NW36th and Robinson, west of I-35) that has this option. Love the place, but I've never used this option myself, but usually see folks lined up for it while I browse and graze on my already prepared favorites.

Your best bets are Golden Palace in Midwest City and Panda Garden in Norman. Both have good Mongolian BBQ lines. I don't know of any place in the metro that is strictly Mongolian though... all are Chinese/Vietnamese restaurants that happen to have Mongolian BBQ.

Hunan Garden on NW Expressway and Council has a little Mongolian BBQ section along with it's buffet. It's pretty decent.

Thank you, this is one of the places I was mentioning above, just couldn't think of the names. It's pretty good as MadMonk mentioned.
