View Full Version : What's happening in Yukon??
Jon27 07-09-2008, 07:24 PM What do you all think about Interurban? I like their bacon cheeseburger, queso, and pizza! (LOL not real ethnic like the cajun and mexican food posts) They usually have good service. They have free queso on Thursday nights. It has spinach in it, which doesn't sound good, but it actually is! I haven't tried the mexican restaurant, and from the sound of it, I don't know if I'd like it. The cajun place on the other hand, does sound appealing. What do you recommend from there?
Also, is anyone with me in that the fireworks display on the 4th was a dud? They didn't have the usual grand finale that I look forward too! I've watched the Yukon Fireworks since I was really young, and this was the worst one. For you Mustangites, how was the Bean Supper this year?
sgt. pepper 07-10-2008, 09:20 AM interurban....it's ok. i like the one on reno better than yukons, not that yukons is bad. mustangs is ok to. the wife and i ate at the one on memorial the other night, they burnt my chicken fried steak!...not good.
didn't see yukons firworks. mustangs was good imo. nothing to write home about, but not a dud either. i always think they should last longer. i just like going eating beans, watermelon, enjoying live music and visiting at those things. Did the OKC philharmonic play in yukon this year?

I dont understand why Yukon has two boring nights of fireworks instead of just one mediocre night of fireworks. A suggestion for next year: go to Wal-Mart during the show and you wont wait in line and there will be no stockers because it's a legal holiday and they don't want to pay them time and a half.

I like their steaks. The one we got think it was called Filet New Orleans. The steak comes with a creamy sauce on top that has shrimp, crabmeat, and crawfish in it and is served over pasta. We liked their fried catfish, blackened catfish, blackened shrimp and seafood pasta. My sister and a friend of mine gets the beans and rice with the blackened sausage on top. I've never had that as it doesn't interest me. But both really say it's good. We hope to go back this week or next and will try something different.
dalelakin 07-10-2008, 06:09 PM Morgan and 15th will be a new police station. Not sure if it will be on the NE or SE corner.
Not that I don't believe you but do you have a link to anything that would prove this to be true?

What do you mean Yukon's vs. the one on Reno? I thought the one on Reno was the only one in Yukon.
sgt. pepper 07-11-2008, 10:10 AM Maybe i'm getting my restrurants mixed up. What is that place across the street from wal-mart on garth brooks? there's one in mustang to. has the updown shakes.
Grant 07-11-2008, 10:36 AM That's Harry's.
sgt. pepper 07-11-2008, 10:59 AM yep, Harry's....sorry
Jon27 07-11-2008, 10:46 PM yep, Harry's....sorry
I thought that's what you meant! Harry's used to be good back in the day. The one in Mustang is a lot better. Yukon's is bad.
On a side note, tomorrow is ornament premier at Sharon's Hallmark (next to Harry's, and across from Wal-Mart in Yukon) For those of you interested in Christmas ornaments, check it out! They're going to have some cool one's this year!
nancy 07-12-2008, 06:45 AM Not that I don't believe you but do you have a link to anything that would prove this to be true?
A policeman that is my family member told me this about a month ago.
baeksu 07-22-2008, 03:52 PM Just to chime in - Alfredo's IS the best mexican food in Yukon. The only problem with them is that they don't serve beer or alcohol of any kind. I like a cold beer with my mexican food.
Also, does anyone know when they're going to open the bridge back up on 10th between Czech Hall and Garth Brooks? That route saves me lots of time and it's been frustrating waiting for them to open it back up.
sgt. pepper 07-23-2008, 09:16 AM Just to chime in - Alfredo's IS the best mexican food in Yukon.
They have this corn dish that i just can't get enough of. i don't know if it has sour cream or what, but it's great stuff.
Also, does anyone know when they're going to open the bridge back up on 10th between Czech Hall and Garth Brooks?
i think the bridge is done? but now thay are widening 10th street as part of the target deal....i think, so who knows.
duckman 07-23-2008, 03:58 PM I'm just glad they are putting a left turn lane on GBB by Santa Fe.
sgt. pepper 07-23-2008, 04:48 PM I'm just glad they are putting a left turn lane on GBB by Santa Fe.
you know.....i'm not the brightest light bulb in the room, but i could have figured that should have been done from day one. not only that, but putting in a center lane all the way to 10th street would have been nice. i'm just glad to see some progress.
Jon27 08-05-2008, 06:51 PM The turn lanes at Garth Brooks and West End Pointe are open!! They have dedicated turn signals also. It's nice. Does anyone get off of Cornwell to go home in the evening? What is going on with the exit ramp? It is constantly backed up. This just started a few weeks ago. I got home around 6 tonight, and it was still backed up all the way to I-40.
sgt. pepper 08-06-2008, 09:42 AM the area is growing, growing, growing. just waite till target and all of that opens. they may have to do a traffic study at that intrersection. boy, that could take a while. i know it backs up at mustang rd. around that time. looks like i-hop is almost open:) i'm keepin my eye on it.

I can't wait! IHOP is our favorite breakfast! I'm so glad to see Yukon taking off. I still wonder about the status of JC Penney. Does anyone have any idea about what is going in the new shopping center by Wal-Mart and Dollar Tree?
sgt. pepper 08-22-2008, 02:18 PM IHOP is open!
Jon27 08-22-2008, 09:45 PM IHOP is open!
What?? I thought it didn't open until the 25th???
sgt. pepper 08-25-2008, 09:05 AM that's what the paper said, but the open sign was up already...anyway, it's now the 25th....happy eating!
Jon27 08-25-2008, 02:40 PM that's what the paper said, but the open sign was up already...anyway, it's now the 25th....happy eating!
Actually, it was open! We ate there yesterday morning. Not bad.
sgt. pepper 08-25-2008, 02:56 PM we have not tried it yet, but we will. we with some friends (who love canjun) went to the big easy one sunday and found out they are closed on sundays. our friends went back that next week. they said they sat down, looked at the menu....and left. prices were way, way too hight in their opinion. they went to some canjun, pearl place on meridian and really liked it, and the prices was much better.
Thunder 08-26-2008, 02:44 AM Where is the new Target located in Yukon? I have to be out there on the 4th, 5th, and 6th to help set the new store.
wallyboy75 08-26-2008, 11:39 AM Its on highway 92 across from kohls and lowes.
Where is the new Target located in Yukon? I have to be out there on the 4th, 5th, and 6th to help set the new store.
will it be a supertarget or a regular target? we're hoping for a supertarget, as we hate grocery shopping at walmart.
sgt. pepper 08-26-2008, 02:47 PM there is no "super" on the sign, so i guess it will be a regular store. looks kinda small for a super store anyway.
Thunder 08-26-2008, 06:13 PM It will be a regular Target. Yukon is not big enough and the location is too far out to have SuperTarget. The company is very controlling of how they spend their money.

Hey Thunder!
Any word on the opening date? Any word on what other stores (besides Petsmart and JC Penney's) will be next to Target?
Thunder 08-27-2008, 02:25 AM I didn't ask for the opening date. I know is that next week, people from several stores will come together to set everything in the store. It should open in mid-September.
fire121 08-28-2008, 01:14 AM The sign says Oct 2008? There was a small article in last Saturdays Oklahoman that had a list of three or four stores besides Target. I know Petsmart and Rue21?? were a couple, but can't remember the others. Nothing that sounded appealing to me. The Target on Exp/Rockwell has a small food section on the east end with several brands of products unique to Target. Hope it at least has a similar area.
sgt. pepper 08-28-2008, 08:50 AM (besides Petsmart and JC Penney's)
last i heard, penny's tucked it's tail and ran away. are they coming back?
nancy 08-31-2008, 04:03 PM we have not tried it yet, but we will. we with some friends (who love canjun) went to the big easy one sunday and found out they are closed on sundays. our friends went back that next week. they said they sat down, looked at the menu....and left. prices were way, way too hight in their opinion. they went to some canjun, pearl place on meridian and really liked it, and the prices was much better.
Have no idea what Pearl prices are. But I don't think The Big Easy prices are too high. We got a menu to take home so we can call for take-out. Just gonna put a few things from the menu with prices to give you an idea of pricing. Maybe I'm wrong and the price is to high???? But I doubt it with food prices the way they are. And this place serves you ALOT of food with your meal.
Blackened Catfish - 11.95
Catfish Royale - 13.95
Creole Chicken - 11.95
Red Beans and Rice w/Blackened Sausage - 9.95
Gumbo - 7.95
All the meals we've had comes with a BIG salad, lots of rice, corn and bread. There is so much food on the plate we laugh because you can't really see too much of the plate...LOL We always take our leftovers home to eat for lunch the next day so it's really 2 meals in 1. They always run specials and the last time we got Backened Catfish it was 10.95.
Do you think these prices are too high?
Clock4869 09-01-2008, 05:30 PM Target is supposed to open Oct. 12th. Petsmart later this year, but there's supposed to be another big named tennant coming (could still be penney's...) also some shoe store... and i guess maurices is moving over there too... also a six flags over yukon...
i may have made up one of those :)
Thunder 09-01-2008, 10:28 PM In my opinion, Target is late on opening the store in Yukon.
October 12th?! That is late. All time spent to lay out the planograms and signages, especially for Halloween, will be a waste.
I'm gonna guess that this store will start the Christmas, rather than Halloween.
The date needs to be moved up to the 1st.
The Target store in MWC already got the Halloween stuff set up (in progress).
A lot of work on the Back to School project did not render great result, because most still shopped at Walmart.

like, i said, that was thier opinion. i don't know pearl's prices either. our family do not eat of much unless it's taco bell, or something cheap like that, so i'm not the best judge on restaurant prices; but yes, those do sound high.....but so do everybody else. maybe somebody else can answer your question better.
i may have made up one of those
it's maurices!!!! no way is yukon oklahoma getting a maurices!
Jon27 09-13-2008, 12:03 AM last i heard, penny's tucked it's tail and ran away. are they coming back?
I was told by a family member that asked someone at another Penney's that it will come, but was delayed to 2010. We'll see.....
Rescue_Company_One 09-17-2008, 07:55 PM If anyone is interested INTEGRIS is putting a lot of money into Canadian Valley. It is going to more than double in size. They have already started the Dirt work. It will be a long process but I have heard they plan on it being as big as Southwest Medical Center in 10 years or so.
I also have heard that if Target does well Yukon should be seeing an Olive Garden and a Red Lobster.

Good info! Thanks!!!!
Thunder 09-17-2008, 10:08 PM The Target store in Yukon is backward and the layout is very strange, but the locals will get used to it. The shoppers will enjoy the new cart style. :D Ever afraid of touching handles in the bathroom? The sinks are automatic! There will be no paper towel, but there is a handy dandy blow dryer. I'm not sure about the toilet, it may be automatic, but I didn't check that part. Unfortunately, the soap dispenser is not automatic.
Seasonal will be located in the far back-left corner of the store. If anyone want to check it out, go on the first day, where everything will be neatly stocked before customers start to enjoy messing everything up.
On the other end of the strip, there is a PetSmart. There will be several smaller stores in between.
Direction, when going west on I-40, don't get off at the Yukon exit. Keep going straight until you get to Garth Brooks, get off there, then turn left. It seems that Yukon expanded their lil town into a growing city. I wonder when the "Yukon exit" will change. That specific part can get people to accidently get on a turnpike.
duckman 10-12-2008, 07:46 AM it's maurices!!!! no way is yukon oklahoma getting a maurices!
Yukon has had a maurices for years by the dollar movie theater and big lots. They are just moving to a newer location (probably with cheaper leasing too).
Thunder 10-12-2008, 09:53 AM SuperTarget is celebrating Grand Opening today in Yukon!
If you're in the area, go check it out, before the customers make a mess in the store.

I was in there yesterday. It's a nice store! Bad part is, you can't look around, I was asked about 20 times "can I help you find something?" I don't like that. If I need help, I'll find you.

That is probably done to please the Target Big Wigs. I have grand opened a couple of retail stores in my time. Each time everybody was overly friendly with the customers for the sake the Big Wigs are there which forces the management to poke and prod the employees to jump through hoops. I heard the phrase "Make sure every customer gets that top notch customer service. We want them to love us so they will come back and shop with us again and again." so many times I wanted to strangle one of my store directors.
Give it a week or two and things will calm down to the enviroment you are used to when you shop at Target.
fire121 11-25-2008, 02:18 PM Any info on what will be in the new building going up north of Johnny Carino's or any other construction news for I-40 and Garth Brooks area??
The new Target is great. Got the kids Pizza Hut the last two times on the way out and it was hot and fresh both times. It is nice not having to fight the Wal Mart crowd!
Westside needed a bump.
Thunder 11-25-2008, 05:25 PM That new Target... Are you enjoying the new carts?
fire121 11-25-2008, 10:46 PM Yes, Why? Something I should know?
Thunder 11-26-2008, 12:02 AM They ain't replacing carts at the MWC store. :(
oneforone 11-26-2008, 01:25 AM Speaking of Target Shopping Carts... My family frequented the store at 44th and Western when I was kid. I would laugh my ass off when the wind would catch a cart and roll it across the lot. Man the carts they had back then could gain some serious speed.
Most of them would smack the curb and flip over. A few would roll in to traffic on Western. It was funny seeing the cars dodge the runaway carts. Fortunately none of them I seen ever hit a car. A select few would make it across into the Sears parking lot.
These days the carts do not move as far because the Midfirst Bank building deflects some of the wind and the speed bumps stop the few that do get caught in the wind.
Anyway.... back to the thread.
Jesseda 11-27-2008, 08:36 AM that reminds me of crest in moore, the parking lot is slopped and goes straight towards eastern, very dangerous..... So changing back to subject.. Is the craft mall still there the one in the chisolm trail shopping center?
Jon27 12-04-2008, 10:34 PM Anyone know what is going in that new building being built next to Carino's? William's has changed over to Homeland.
sgt. pepper 02-09-2009, 07:22 AM dirt is being moved between sonic and the hotel on the s.w. corner of mustang rd. and i-40. anybody know what's going on? i heard many moons ago that a braums would be built in that area, but that was a long time ago and i have given up on that.
Jon27 02-15-2009, 10:06 PM Anybody still interested in Yukon?
sgt. pepper 02-16-2009, 06:39 AM Yukon is widening mustang rd....finally!
gen70 02-16-2009, 06:56 AM I live in Ashville N.C. and I have a friend in Mustang Ok. that I have lost touch with. Does anyone know Ricky Little? He's a Teacher-Coach in Mustang schools.
sgt. pepper 02-16-2009, 02:00 PM gen70, do you know what he teaches and what grade, school??
Jon27 02-16-2009, 07:09 PM Yukon is widening mustang rd....finally!
Woohoo! Hopefully the 10th St and Mustang Rd Intersection is next.
sgt. pepper 02-17-2009, 07:54 AM what about that mustang rd and old hiway 4 intersection..gosh....that whole strech of mustang rd is bad. i guess the city of yukon finally had to do something now that the new high school is going in right there.
gen70 02-17-2009, 09:59 AM gen70, do you know what he teaches and what grade, school??
I really don't remember it's been a long time.

Unless. I am mistaken I think that is the location of a new Golden Corral.
