I'd revised my "Beverlys" blog post in February ... Doug Dawgz Blog: North on Lincoln: Chicken-In-The-Rough (http://dougdawg.blogspot.com/2006/07/north-on-lincoln-chicken-in-rough.html) ... but I didn't stop to go in the new shop north of Baptist Hospital. Today, I did.

While there, I asked Ms. Khosravani (the owner) whether the "old" sign would be used for the new restaurant ... she said, "The round part will be," but I didn't then remember what the "round part" was ... and, I asked, "What about the chicken?"

Well, of course, the "round part" IS the chicken!

So, expect to see the round-part-chicken out front before too long.

The Big Bev & Fries were just as good as always. Here are a few inside pics ...

As you can see, though, it's a bit more "modern" than one might expect a Beverly's to be. That's cheesecake and other deserts in the glass cabinet by the check out. The crowd was decent for around 2:30 p.m., so it must be O.K.

This place is seriously living off it's past reputation (whatever that may be). I don't know how this place stays in business. Food was below average and the service wasn't much better.

So, as a person who hasn't gotten a chance to go there yet (I hope it's not too late), what exactly is "Chicken In The Rough"?

If I remember right, it's chicken, a biscuit, and something else. No extras on the plate.

it's 'chicken in the rough' since you eat it with your hands. -M

Ah, hmm. I guess I expected some sort of spectacular presentation based on the phrase "in the rough". :)

I'm willing to bet that the chicken would speak for itself, however, so I remain eager to give it a shot. :)
