MikeLucky 03-17-2008, 09:58 AM Tiffany's in Noble..... metro 03-17-2008, 10:45 AM Jim's Restaurant on NW 39th and Council is pretty good. Also a hidden gem in OKC is Annie's Runway Cafe at Wiley Post Airport. You can eat while watching planes take off and land, it's pretty neat! John 03-17-2008, 01:17 PM Around the Corner - Downtown Edmond, or Classen Grill. y_h 03-17-2008, 01:52 PM Jim's Restaurant on NW 39th and Council is pretty good. Jim's was a regular breakfast haunt back when I lived in Stonebridge Cove out near Lake Overholser. Pretty decent breakfast place. I also used to patronize a place called Roz's Diner which was on Rockwell across from Wiliey Post. It was a real throwback of a place without being too over-the-top kitchy. Great omelettes, superior hash browns and piping hot Cain's coffee. Last time I was in town (2 years ago) I visited another couple of old standby's from my days on NW Expressway - Classen Grill and Beverly's. Both seemed to be pretty much the same as they were back in 1990 (although I guess that can't be said anymore for Beverly's). Right next to Java Dave's Karried 03-17-2008, 06:42 PM Thank you! Did you know a new Java Daves and Brooklyn's Pizza will be opening on May between 164th and 178th street in a few months? Bob&Frank&Ted&Bob&Alice 03-17-2008, 06:45 PM I hate breakfast. It gives me gas. Oh GAWD the Smell! 03-17-2008, 08:21 PM I'm boring. Jimmy's Egg and IHOP are fine by me. The Diner in Norman is pretty good too. I hate breakfast. It gives me gas. A lot of things do. dismayed 03-17-2008, 09:31 PM I'm a big fan of Sunday brunch, so I'd have to say La Baguette or Mimi's Cafe. Bob&Frank&Ted&Bob&Alice 03-17-2008, 10:04 PM I've really been disappointed with La Baguette. There Napoleons are really tough. You're not supposed to need a saw to cut through them. FritterGirl 03-17-2008, 10:18 PM Classen Grill on the Circle - for the FRESH orange juice squeezed right on site, to the best french toast ever. Always love their specials. 501 Cafe in Edmond also has a great variety of breakfast/brunch foods. I haven't been to La Baguette in a while, but their coffee and baguettes with the strawberry preserves are enough to keep me going back time and time again. Bob&Frank&Ted&Bob&Alice 03-17-2008, 10:43 PM I think Cafe 501 closed FritterGirl 03-17-2008, 10:50 PM They closed for a short while for some renovation work. Unless they just closed in the past three weeks to a month, they're still going strong. John 03-18-2008, 02:58 AM I think Cafe 501 closed Wrong again... Martin 03-18-2008, 06:27 AM i'll second the museum cafe... great sunday brunch. also, there's ozzie's at max westheimer airport in norman. -M Bob&Frank&Ted&Bob&Alice 03-18-2008, 10:44 AM Wrong again... Actually, I wasn't wrong. I was there. It was closed. FritterGirl 03-18-2008, 11:00 AM Actually, I wasn't wrong. I was there. It was closed. There's quite a difference between closed and closed for business, as in gave up the ghost, quit business, closed down for good. Your earlier post insinuated that they had closed for business, which they have not. Is it possible that you went on a Sunday afternoon/evening, when they are, in fact, closed? Their regular operating hours are: Mon - Thurs 10:30 a.m. - 9 p.m. Fri - 10:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Sat - 8 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Sun - 9 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. You are welcome to call and verify that they are not, nor have been closed. In fact, my earlier post where I said they had closed during renovations, was also incorrect. They never closed during renovations, just moved things around a bit. NikonNurse 03-18-2008, 07:17 PM classen grille....I'm hungry brnok 03-19-2008, 03:13 AM I would have to say Jimmy's Egg. I still remember many great ( 2 AM) :) breakfasts @ The Kettle breakfast buffet! Anyone else miss the stacks of bacon, & smoked, link, & patty sausage, fruit bar etc? metro 03-19-2008, 10:19 AM Not sure if anyone said it but the "original" Pearls has an awesome weekend brunch. icemncmth 03-21-2008, 06:19 AM I like Jimmy's Egg Shartel Cafe Classen Grill Joey's Cafe rwood8 03-21-2008, 07:41 AM Ozzie's in Norman Around the Corner For brunch, though, I would say Pearls...Hands down. OKCDrummer77 03-22-2008, 10:47 AM Jimmy's Egg is good, but not when you're in a hurry. Every time I've been there, the service was good, but VERY slow. For a quicker breakfast, there's the Donut Palace on Britton Rd, east of Penn, where the Big D's Bar-B-Q used to be. In addition to the standard donut offerings, they have apple fritters and cinnamon rolls that are bigger than a dinner plate. At 95 cents, that's a steal. They also have croissants filled with bacon & cheese or sausage & cheese. I had one with bacon & cheese last week. Good stuff. Dustbowl 03-22-2008, 11:19 AM Nic's. 11th and Penn. rwood8 03-22-2008, 11:45 AM I need to update my previous status... I had breakfast this morning at Mimi's Cafe with a lovely group of TV folk.... The food was great, service was a bit slow...but they were busy. I'll go back... |
