I walked the river last in October and it looks like they have done quite a bit of worik on the new I-40 since then. I can hardly wait for all of this to be done and all of those junky places taken out of there. The river trail is just a great place for walking and biking and it will be so much better when the trees are grown up and all the crap is not there to look at. I can just imagine a lot of people using this area in the future. I would love to see a nice bar and grill type place down there in the future when C2S is done. A place where you can have a nice drink and people watch.

The last picture was taken from the top of the "galleria" parking garage looking south. This would approximately be the view you will see from the new Devon building.

Are those grain storage buildings in front of the john deere machinery? If so, they along with that silo should be demollished, they do nothing to enhance the skyline. Ugh!!!

That is the Producers Cooperative Oil Mill. The following is from their web site.

Producers Cooperative Oil Mill has been providing high quality cotton seed products since 1944. Our home
office is located in Oklahoma City where we serve clients nationwide with cottonseed oil, cottonseed meal, cottonseed hulls, linters, and whole cottonseed. Our other locations are in Kennett, Missouri; Osceola, Arkansas; and Covington, Tennessee.

I don't foresee that they will be torn down. That is a very major operation.

Maybe we could get some of the soon to be local NBA stars painted on the silos ... they'll be tall enough :)

I recently walked the river too, and was noticing all the junky areas that are visible. Perhaps if pine or cedar trees were planted along the wall, we'd solve two problems: we could block the view reasonably quickly, and we'd increase the number of trees along the pathway, both of which would be good, IMO.

Nice 2nd to last picture! I've been meaning to get down there and take some pics at the I40 construction area there at Shields Blvd/BNSF line. Looks like they're making massive improvement just to the east of there where you snapped that other pic of the concrete culvert.

The silo houses Rocktown, a very successful indoor climbing gym that is currently expanding. It contributes significantly to OKC's recreation options and is a fantastic example of adaptive reuse.

I like the climbing gym silo. I would like to see them cleaned up a little bit so they didn't look so much like they still had grain in them though. I'm sure that the cotton oil thing will get an offer they can't refuse one of these days. At least we can hope!!
