Anyone else see this? I could hardly stay in my seat through the entire movie. At the end, the credits said it was adapted from a book by Upton Sinclair, and then I understood why it seemed rather odd, grim and slow. Am I missing something?

Are you saying you were bored to tears?

It was a looong stretch, I'll admit.

While I certainly admired the film, I can't exactly say that I liked it. I felt that it lacked dramatic conflict and there was really no single redeeming character save for one. And the ending? What the flimflam was up with that ending? I certainly didn't think they'd ride off into the sunset together, but it just seemed random.

It did give a fascinating view of the oil business during its genesis.

The score, which I believe was penned by one of the guitarists for Radiohead was as bleak as the dusty dry landscape. Haunting, but bleh at the same time.
