The costs of the tickets are set with the intent of paying the costs of enforcement, including the municipal court system. Raising the fines (which I think has to be approved by city council - the mgr can't make that decision on his own) means more of the city's sales tax income is available for other things.
Of course, one way to avoid getting a ticket for driving six mph over the speed limit is to not drive six mph over the speed limit.
Oh GAWD the Smell!

Or, drive double the limit. I've found that I don't get retarded-ass, revenue-only tickets that way. I get holy-sh*t PMITA tickets.

Be in a job where you have to deal with all walks of life and try not to be stressed out or not particularly friendly.
I think a lot of us take for granted that we often have the ability to choose who we are around. We don't willingly go into the shady areas of the city or choose to deal with prostitutes, druggies, thieves, etc..
I respect anyone willing to put their life on the line to preserve the order of society. I also don't expect these people to have to put on some act of being nice because it's to their benefit to be cautious of anyone when in a position such as a police officer.

I agree somewhat...Just about everything they do is negative, even a simple traffic stop of a very nice person that is nothing but cordial to them...They know that they're still ruining that person's day.
I certainly couldn't do it. You'd see me on the news beating the snot out of somebody with a baton.
But I disagree that we don't willingly go into shady areas or choose to deal with pros....Oh...I'll shut up now.

Thank you. IT is a trying job Not nice to be cussed out by grey haired old ladies and grade school kids.
I know that most of society hates the police. Even at a subliminal we can sense dislike from the most decent dressed individual. It kinda gives you and attitude.
Try walking through a crowd and of gang bangers at 12 midnight on Lincoln or old Hamiliton Courts. Tell me about your stress level.
Especially because you have been called there because one banger just capped another banger and personally you know that most of society including yourself is thinking good riddance.
If we can manage to stay married to the same woman through it all and the kids don't hate us at the end then its considered a successful retirement. One buddy died several years ago and his son didnt bother to come to the funeral.
Oh and did I mention the alcoholic rate and suicide rate is very high towards and after retirement.:tiphat:
