Harvey Hudson 01-25-2008, 02:29 PM Has anyone been to Macy's to see what kind of deals they have? BailJumper 01-25-2008, 03:58 PM Last time I stopped in (last weekend) lots of stuff was moving, but I didn't think the prices were all that great. masonsmomma 01-25-2008, 10:11 PM If Forever 21 comes to Penn, like they are planning what will happen to Gadzooks? As far as I know, when we closed our Suncoast location the mall management that did our walk through with us said that there was no tenant for our spot yet. But they don't always tell the truth! oudirtypop 01-25-2008, 11:22 PM Best Buy Isnt Going In By Home Depot In Moore, Its Going By Jc Penny. Oh GAWD the Smell! 01-26-2008, 12:19 AM Has anyone been to Macy's to see what kind of deals they have? 30-50 percent off. But their prices were astronomical to begin with, so right now, they're just normal prices. solitude 01-26-2008, 02:58 AM Victoria's Secret closed in Penn Square? What happened? I thought they did a good business. What about the other locations? This is surprising - I knew nothing of it. Decious 01-26-2008, 03:52 AM Victoria's Secret closed in Penn Square? What happened? I thought they did a good business. What about the other locations? This is surprising - I knew nothing of it. No, they just moved to a different (larger) location. They're on the ground level on the west side of the mall across from Dillards. My wife had me in there for over an hour on the day after Thanksgiving. Karried 01-26-2008, 10:31 AM Victoria Secrets at Quail moved as well, to the lower level. Much larger with new sections highlighting and touting their new lines. solitude 01-26-2008, 03:00 PM Thanks for the scoop! The initial mentions of Victoria's Secret in this thread just mentioned "space left by Victoria's Secret" and I was afraid they had left Penn Square - which would have made no sense. A larger location definitely does! Thanks for clearing that up. BailJumper 01-26-2008, 06:56 PM Anyone know if Steve & Berry's at Crossroads is closing? They are promoting a "storewide clearance" were nothing is over $8.98. A lot is gone and they do not appear to be restocking. A lady at the register asked if they were going out of business and the cashier quickly said 'no.' But, another worker looked up shyly and and nodded yes. Anyone heard anything? No idea but I wouldn't be suprised if it is going to close, I do miss when that store was a electronics and furturite store Patrick 01-26-2008, 10:49 PM If Forever 21 comes to Penn, like they are planning what will happen to Gadzooks? As far as I know, when we closed our Suncoast location the mall management that did our walk through with us said that there was no tenant for our spot yet. But they don't always tell the truth! Actually Forever 21 owns Gadzooks. They purchased Gadzooks a few years ago, after the original Gadzooks Inc. went bankrupt. Go into any Gadzooks store and you'll see that all of their clothing now says Forever 21 on the label. Both stores are similar now and sell the same clothing lines. Basically, Forever 21 is slowly phasing out the Gadzooks name and going with Forever 21, Forever XXI (their flagship stores), For Love 21, and Heritage1981. Not sure if they'll do away with the Gadzooks name completely, but that's the trend right now. When their leases come up on the Gadzooks stores, they're replacing them with Forever 21 stores. That's what took place at Quail Springs, and that's what will probably take place at Penn Square when their lease is up on their Gadzooks location. Shake2005 01-27-2008, 07:12 AM Is Macy's planning to expand one of the other stores once this one closes? Like with furniture? The one at Quail Springs is really small. But, another worker looked up shyly and and nodded yes. Anyone heard anything? No, all Steve and Barry's are doing that. I'm in the Twin Cities area and ours up here has that sale as well. sountrak alum 01-27-2008, 12:52 PM What's sad is that it seems that Quail Springs is now going down the CrossRoads path. Last night, we went out to my wife's favorite store...Eddie Bauer to find her something new. When we walked in...there was a sign at the front saying that the store was closing down the Quail location. I located an employee and asked them why they were closing. She told me that when Eddie Bauer went to renew their lease in October, they were informed that the mall had already leased their location to another store. The rumor is that it will be a "Forever 21". The employee told me that Quail management was wanting to bring in more stores that cater to the young, hip hop crowd. Well, as we then walked around the mall, we began seeing what I had believed was coming true...there are more young hip hoppers than there are adults. I know this sounds bad, but it seems that the Latino gangs may have run the hip hop gangs off from Cross Roads, and up to Quail. It looked like a Crips/Bloods convention at Quail last night. I guess I will now have to do all my shopping at Penn Square. I am not positive but I believe Eddie Bauer has or is filing for Bankrupcy Protection and all there store nation wide are clisn,g I am not 100% sute, that is my understanding solitude 01-27-2008, 02:22 PM I am not positive but I believe Eddie Bauer has or is filing for Bankrupcy Protection and all there store nation wide are clisn,g I am not 100% sute, that is my understanding Actually, the Eddie Bauer Home Stores closed. The apparel stores are unaffected. Jesseda 03-06-2008, 01:53 PM So is macys gone from crossroads....And is crossroads goingto close, i seems dead i mean dead.. what is going on has anybody been brave enough to enter that mall to see if more stores are closed than opened or if anything new has gone in that mall????? Oh GAWD the Smell! 03-06-2008, 02:18 PM So is macys gone from crossroads....And is crossroads goingto close, i seems dead i mean dead.. what is going on has anybody been brave enough to enter that mall to see if more stores are closed than opened or if anything new has gone in that mall????? I was in there this morning. I didn't notice anything different, but I didn't go near the end where Macy's was. Just Dillards and the bookstore. Martin 03-06-2008, 02:29 PM last saturday evening i was jonesing for some chick-fila and was surprised by the number of people out at crossroads... the place was quite bustling, in fact. perhaps it wasn't the same type of clientele that one would find at penn square, but i was pleasantly surprised by the number of people out and spending money. as for macy's, i'm not sure that they're closed just yet... i think they might still be liquidating inventory. -M Oh GAWD the Smell! 03-06-2008, 02:32 PM It's always packed when I'm in there during normal shopping hours. SeinfeldBlock 07-08-2008, 08:22 AM Is Macy's actually gone now? It seems like I drove by there the other day and still saw the name on the sign..... Also, today it was announced that Steve & Barry's is cutting a ton of stores, and I heard a rumor that the Crossroads store was sure to get the boot. In other news, the Dillard's in Crossroads is of some desperate need of updating, especially in their clothing sections. It looks great in the whole entry area, but you get into the "little traffic" areas, and it's just old ripped orangey carpet. But it sure seems pointless now! Martin 07-08-2008, 08:40 AM is macy's actually gone now? macy's is gone. i visited personally and saw the store nearly empty during the final days of liquidation. -M Jesseda 07-08-2008, 08:41 AM yes macys is gone, and steve and barrys is going to leave soon, a lot of stores inside the mall are leaving or have left already.. its sad isnt it.. oneforone 07-08-2008, 12:30 PM Is Macy's actually gone now? Dillard's is usually the last one to leave a mall. Most of the dying Dillard's stores become closeout stores before they close for good. I give Crossroads until January of 2009. It may be earlier than that if Toys R' Us and Steve & Barry's closes up shop. Bobby821 07-08-2008, 12:56 PM Is Toys R Us closeing too?? SeinfeldBlock 07-08-2008, 01:38 PM I've wondered how that Toys 'R Us is still open. I thought for sure they would move to the shops on 240. It's sad that Crossroads is closing, mainly because it's sad to see another thing go down. Honestly, if it closes, I hope they bulldoze it and do something useful with it, or use it for office-type stuff only. (They already have a lot of offices, I think). Another random comment relating to Crossroads area--I heard there was going to be a Heart Hospital built on Sooner/240--so I would expect that area to grow a lot soon.... anyone else heard of that? Maybe that's for a new thread. Oh GAWD the Smell! 07-08-2008, 01:46 PM I've wondered how that Toys 'R Us is still open. I thought for sure they would move to the shops on 240. SeinfeldBlock 07-08-2008, 01:49 PM That hospital is well underway. The land was cleared long ago and there are already dozens of concrete pillars in place. As you can tell, I never go in that direction!! Ha ha. Perhaps I should drive down there. Thanks for the info... On a side note, I went to that Best Buy next to Crossroads to buy a new tv, and I got excellent, excellent service. I was a little surprised. oneforone 07-17-2008, 11:54 PM Is Toys R Us closeing too?? I have not heard anything that says one way or the other for Toys R' Us. I am just predicting that they will close. I do not see how the store can stay open with no traffic passing by the store. Hardly anyone parks on the Noth side of the mall anymore. Everybody parks on the South side. LIL_WAYNE_4_PREZIDENT08 07-18-2008, 12:05 AM What's sad is that it seems that Quail Springs is now going down the CrossRoads path. Not all young black people are gangbangers Just because someone is wearing red or blue doesnt mean they're in a gang Stop sterotyping LIL_WAYNE_4_PREZIDENT08 07-18-2008, 12:07 AM The mall is dead though I went there today and.... It's kinda weird. No one goes there anymore scootinger 07-18-2008, 01:15 AM I have not heard anything that says one way or the other for Toys R' Us. I am just predicting that they will close. I do not see how the store can stay open with no traffic passing by the store. Hardly anyone parks on the Noth side of the mall anymore. Everybody parks on the South side. I don't think Toys R Us is going to close. There's one by Eastland Mall in Tulsa that's still open, and Eastland is in a location sorta similar to Crossroads (basically alone by itself with just a few buildings surrounding it) and has been a "dead mall" for quite a while. Virtually the only thing that's nearby is a small strip mall with a Marshalls and the (empty) mall; the nearby Target was closed. Eastland is in a worse location than Crossroads so I don't think that the Crossroads one will close, unless they decide to move somewhere else. scootinger 07-18-2008, 01:30 AM Dillard's is usually the last one to leave a mall. Most of the dying Dillard's stores become closeout stores before they close for good. I give Crossroads until January of 2009. It may be earlier than that if Toys R' Us and Steve & Barry's closes up shop. I SERIOUSLY doubt that Crossroads is going to close in 2009, as everyone is speculating. They probably have long-term leases with a lot of their tenants, and a mall doesn't usually just shut down. like look at Heritage Park...it's been worse than Crossroads (aside from all of the "gang-bangers") for quite a while and it doesn't look like it's going anywhere! Unless they are planning to do some sort of redevelopment or have a particular reason, why would the mall close? They'd be missing out on revenue from tenants, and I don't think that Crossroads would deterioriate to the point that NOBODY would locate there, especially since Dillards will probably stay for quite a while. jbrown84 07-24-2008, 03:48 PM I said something similar in another thread. Malls don't just announce one day, "we're closing next month--get your product out." SeinfeldBlock 07-29-2008, 08:05 AM Heard an ad that Crossroads is offering no-tax this weekend. Tax holiday looming By Michael Kimball Staff Writer Oklahoma’s second sales tax-free weekend begins Friday, giving the state’s shoppers a three-day window to purchase clothing items that cost less than $100 without having to pay sales tax. Exempt from the tax holiday are accessories and clothing or footwear designed specifically for athletic activity or protective use. Exempt items include jewelry, handbags, luggage, umbrellas, wallets and watches. Every retailer in the state is required to participate, and anyone may buy the tax-exempt items. Even items bought online from Oklahoma retailers are tax-exempt. jbrown84 08-02-2008, 12:36 AM You're crazy. Don't be ridiculous. You act as if it's a war zone. ShiroiHikari 08-02-2008, 05:06 PM So the sales tax thing only applies to clothing? Because I did some grocery shopping last night and still had to pay tax. I wish we didn't have to pay sales tax on groceries...*sigh* jbrown84 08-02-2008, 05:50 PM Clothing and shoes. kevinpate 08-02-2008, 06:02 PM A limited number of items are mandatory to be exempt this weekend. Beyond that, it's up to each indivdual retailer to exempt or even discount other items. Some do, some don't, and some might without making a huge production about it. |
