View Full Version : YouTube videos can now be directly embedded
I recently implemented some custom code that allows you to embed (rather than just link) YouTube videos on any OKCTalk forum.
Here's what you post:
{yt}TMQhxpOjDmM{/yt}
Where:
{} = [] (lower case of same key)
TMQhxpOjDmM = everything in the URL of the video after the equals sign
Here's an example:
TMQhxpOjDmM
Martin 11-15-2007, 02:39 PM not sure if this is working. -M

mmm, instead of posting the entire URL between the two yt tags...
you should just post this:
xB8sartE19k
Intrepid 11-15-2007, 03:08 PM I'm not seeing anything, from anyone, thus far. Just a box within the message that says "YouTube Video"
You can't see the video in the original post?
I can.
Intrepid 11-15-2007, 04:28 PM You can't see the video in the original post?
I can.
Only if I click on the words YouTube in the window the appears within the message. But that just opens up a new window and takes me directly to YouTube.
Martin 11-15-2007, 06:35 PM gotcha. next time i'll read the instructions. : )
in any event, both the video i posted and the one you posted disappear shortly after the page loads. i'm using ie7.

Intrepid 11-15-2007, 06:38 PM I too am using IE7.
Something weird just happened tho. This page loaded, I briefly saw a picture of the video in the first message.
Then I scrolled down to read the lastest message, scrolled back up and the video was gone again.
I'm using Firefox and can see both videos just fine.
Karried 11-15-2007, 08:53 PM I can't see anything either.. just two blank boxes with YouTube Video on the top line.
Seems to be a problem with Internet Explorer.
Just goes to show how trying to make small technical changes can leads to a miltiple of issues!
I'll see what I can find out.
Okay, I changed the code a bit and when I use IE, can see the videos now.
Can you guys see them as well?
Martin 11-16-2007, 10:39 AM yes... a much cleaner tag than what i saw yesterday. vids are showing up fine now in ie.
-M
I also added an icon to the 'new thread' and 'post reply' (advanced only) screens.
Now, you can just click the YouTube button and it will insert the YT code for you. Just put in the part of the video URL after the "=" sign:

Karried 11-16-2007, 08:34 PM yes! I can see them now. Thank you!
Intrepid 11-16-2007, 09:16 PM I can see them now too!
Thanks!
