They may not have started district play yet, but Yukon has looked impressive thus far at 3-0. They upset arch rival Mustang 36-20something, and last Friday putting a sound thrashing on Putnam City West.

Head Coach Todd Wilson has a good track record of turning mediocre/bad teams around in a couple of years so that's something to look out for. Also, they've got a couple of talented leaders with decent size.

Any thoughts on whether they'll fall apart or not?

Well Yukon took a big whompin' from Midwest City this weekend, but if you think it was a thorough thrashing based solely on the score, you'd be deceived!

From what I heard, it was 28 all going into the 4th Quarter. From there, MWC took the advantage and went up a TD. As Yukon attempted their rally, they made some classic blunders, often the result of 'forced effort'. That's when the score began to spread. But it's still pretty impressive that they held their own as long as they did! MWC has the size, and speed, and depth to win it all this year. Heck, they're playing better than Union or Jenks early on.....so I think it's a moral victory for Yukon, and the first step toward building mental toughness on a team that's been lacking it for years!

Back on the rebound, Yukon upended the favored Lawton-Ike on Friday night, leading by as much as 21 at one point. I've got to say, this team is really exciting to watch. After growing up in a 1A school, playing on football team thin in both athletes and coaching, it's really refreshing to get into some competitive action on the high school level. The atmosphere was great, and after a weak experience the first time I came out this season, the consessions were back up to my standards! :)

So, if you're looking for some fun & exciting entertainment on a Friday night, come out to see Yukon High School Football. I'll save you a seat.
