I am looking for Trappist Westvleteren 12 but I cannot find anyone who carries it. I checked Byrons, Cellar Wine & Spirits and Freeman Liquor on western... dalelakin 08-25-2007, 01:51 PM You will not find it in a liquor store. The monks are dead set against reselling their beer. You better plan a trip to Belgium... diesel 08-25-2007, 01:59 PM Well I found a Trappist 10 at Freeman Liquor but it wasnt the one I wanted... dalelakin 08-25-2007, 02:11 PM Then it was resold against the monks wishes. Whomever had it went to great lengths to get it as they do not redistribute their beer. http://beeradvocate.com/news/stories_read/669 Trappist Beer from the St.-Sixtus Monastery, Westvleteren, Belgium (http://www.whitebeertravels.co.uk/sixtus.html) The Old Downtown Guy 08-25-2007, 05:10 PM Sounds like no chance for the Westvleteren you crave, but Beau's on Wilshire just east of May has a decent all around selection. I buy a Grimbergen Blond Ale there that is very good. Another favorite of mine is a Thai beer . . . Singha. okclee 08-25-2007, 08:09 PM I like Singha, is it in cans or bottles?? lpecan 08-26-2007, 11:22 AM I've purchased two six-packs over the years of the yellow cap (12) on ebay. Expect to pay $100 for six beers and you'll have to look a lot! lpecan 08-26-2007, 11:24 AM 6 AbdijTrappist Beer 12° WESTVLETEREN St.Sixtus Abbey - (eBay item 170140103936 end time Sep-01-07 13:30:00 PDT) (http://cgi.ebay.com/6-AbdijTrappist-Beer-12-WESTVLETEREN-St-Sixtus-Abbey_W0QQitemZ170140103936QQihZ007QQcategoryZ563Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) lpecan 08-26-2007, 11:29 AM 6 AbdijTrappist Beer 12° WESTVLETEREN St.Sixtus Abbey - (eBay item 170140103936 end time Sep-01-07 13:30:00 PDT) (http://cgi.ebay.com/6-AbdijTrappist-Beer-12-WESTVLETEREN-St-Sixtus-Abbey_W0QQitemZ170140103936QQihZ007QQcategoryZ563Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) The Old Downtown Guy 08-26-2007, 02:17 PM I like Singha, is it in cans or bottles?? Bottles. Another regular in my beer fridg is Warsteiner, a German beer. The Old Downtown Guy 08-26-2007, 02:26 PM I've purchased two six-packs over the years of the yellow cap (12) on ebay. Expect to pay $100 for six beers and you'll have to look a lot! Considering the status of the beer, the limited availability and the dollar/euro exchange rate, $17 a bottle isn't a bad price. FlounderinDC 08-27-2007, 08:47 AM $100 a six pack? Wow....but I guess that is the same as me buying a $100 bottle of wine. Oh GAWD the Smell! 08-27-2007, 09:29 AM $100 a six pack? Wow....but I guess that is the same as me buying a $100 bottle of wine. That's kind of how I look at it. I've spent more on dumber things :D |
