View Full Version : Bricktown McDonalds proposal not welcomed TStheThird 03-14-2008, 09:22 PM I loved Bologna. I studied Economics at the University of Bologna. It was a great experience. My wife and I are going back to Italy for a couple of weeks this summer. I hope to spend some quality time in Bologna. metro 04-07-2008, 10:26 AM I drove around yesterday since the weather was so nice. Man this thing has gone up QUICK. The entire outside is now a "box". For a McDonalds, it will be one of the nicer ones in OKC, however I wish the design committee would have been a little more tough on them. At this rate, they will be open by the end of June, if not sooner. I'll try and post a pic tonight. Turanacus 04-07-2008, 10:37 AM will the dave and buster's go where Fox Coll Center is now? kevinpate 04-07-2008, 11:04 AM Based on the last posted rendering, it appears MD's will have as much, or more, brick than anything else along East Reno. And yes, it does appear to be moving along at a right fair clip. oneforone 04-07-2008, 11:28 AM Why McDonald's I would preferred a second location for the Habana, a bath house, or a massage parlor. Has anyone ever ate at Gusher's they have the most fabulous tube steak dinner. The white whine cream sauce is to die for. You all should take your lover's threre tonight. metro 04-07-2008, 12:19 PM Turanacus, what D&B, they have never made an announcement for OKC, pure speculation and fantasy on behalf of OKCTalk posters. metro 05-30-2008, 02:30 PM Drove by last night, the exterior brickwork is almost done. I'm still upset they didn't try to make this a walkup only restaurant, we don't need a "drive thru" in Bricktown. On another note, the old FOX Collison has been painted from its bright blue to a red and tan. You don't notice it near as much now. Just wish they'd tear it down and build something else that's not a drive thru restaurant. Turanacus 05-30-2008, 03:54 PM it's strange that people fantasize over a Dave and Buster's. --Although, I fantasize over EspnZone so I guess I can understand. betts 05-30-2008, 04:44 PM it's strange that people fantasize over a Dave and Buster's. --Although, I fantasize over EspnZone so I guess I can understand. Me too. I was just fantasizing about an ESPNZone today, in fact. Wouldn't that be great! The McDonald's looks OK. Thank heavens it's brick. mmonroe 05-31-2008, 03:16 AM I didn't even notice the Fox Collision building last night when I left the downtown ihop... weird. Swake2 06-01-2008, 10:59 AM Tulsa World: Dave & Buster's restaurant coming to Tulsa (http://www.tulsaworld.com/business/article.aspx?articleID=20080521_46_E1_spancl615166 ) metro 06-02-2008, 09:26 AM Tulsa is getting a D&B and we can't get one in Bricktown or Memorial Rd? AFCM 06-02-2008, 09:34 AM Tulsa is getting a D&B and we can't get one in Bricktown or Memorial Rd? ...but if Tulsa is getting one, I'm not sure D&B is so appealing anymore. By the time it comes here, which it will, D&B will be just another chain you can experience in every major city across America. If that is the case, I'm not sure whether I'd want it downtown or on Memorial Road. I would suspect it would end up in Bricktown, which would add another entertainment option, but with the cost of having another chain in our evolving entertainment district. OKCMallen 06-02-2008, 12:23 PM I don't think we'll ever have an ESPN Zone- we don't currently even jhave one major league team, and will almost certainly top out at the 1. a D&B is better-suited for our size. muppetkiller 06-12-2008, 12:07 AM I would love a Ruth's Chris in bricktown Thanks McDonalds? Why would I travel all the way to Bricktown, for Mickey D's? I walk Bricktown. I walk the river. I love the ballpark. I could care less about McDonald's hamburgers. If anything, I'd frequent "Dick's Last Resort". It's more fun. How does McDonalds make Bricktown unique? If I needed a cheap burger, I'd prefer "Whataburger", or better yet, "Sonic". muppetkiller 06-12-2008, 12:11 AM ...but if Tulsa is getting one, I'm not sure D&B is so appealing anymore. Houston had the card in 1997. I cracked crab across the street and giggled about valet parking. Nothing else was going on. Taggart 06-12-2008, 11:02 AM Coming from a big city, I think Bricktown is too spread out. It loses any energetic vibe that it generates because you have to walk through nothing to get anywhere. I think Mcdonalds is fine, but a building that small could have been wedged in somwhere where it would have acted as "filler." jbrown84 06-12-2008, 12:28 PM McDonalds? Why would I travel all the way to Bricktown, for Mickey D's? You wouldn't of course. But someone who's down there for a movie or a game or a concert might stop there to get a quick bite. More selection never hurts. mecarr 06-12-2008, 06:06 PM You wouldn't of course. But someone who's down there for a movie or a game or a concert might stop there to get a quick bite. More selection never hurts. More selection does not hurt, except if it takes up space where something better could have gone. In other words, the McDonalds is taking up land where a better facility could have been placed. kevinpate 06-12-2008, 07:49 PM perhaps, but McD is who stepped up and filled a space that had been vacant. the day before signing, anyone with the capability and vision could have beat their time, yet no one did. Not seeing how that's the fault of the McD folks or why they should have said nope, nice potential for us but we'll pass so someone else can set up shop there. metro 06-13-2008, 08:51 AM It's the fault of the city for poor planning..Bass Pro wasn't very visionary either. If they wanted to build a big box for someone, IKEA would have attracted more of the downtown type crowd and at least it would have been 2-3 levels. kevinpate 06-13-2008, 01:01 PM I guess it's the non-city side of me. I see nothing wrong with Bass Pro being right where it is, just off two major interstates, drawing folks in from hither and yon. I'm far more disturbed by the bone headed decision to expand the parking south ofBP, nearly on top of the canal, than I am the big pro outdoorsey haven the city brought in. but then, I do tend to shop there at times, so yeah, there's a bit of bias built in my thinking. chuckdiesel 06-14-2008, 01:12 AM More selection does not hurt, except if it takes up space where something better could have gone. In other words, the McDonalds is taking up land where a better facility could have been placed. I don't see what the big deal is about McD's. There's a McD's on the Las Vegas strip for pete's sake. jbrown84 06-14-2008, 01:36 PM If the city can't even approve Funk's development for across the street, I doubt we would have seen anything besides this McDonalds on that spot for years. MestaParkMan 06-15-2008, 12:51 AM We all need to say no the chains like Earls, Bass Pro, Spaghetti Warehouse, U-haul, IHOP, Coca Cola Event Center, Sonic, Hooters, Marble Slab Creamery, Toby Keith's, Zio's, oh wait. Bricktown is for the tourists. Get over it. metro 06-16-2008, 09:07 PM Earls, Sonic and Toby Keith's are locally based chains, Zio's is Tulsa based. Now the others are based out of state. |
