Red Rock Canyon Grill - OKC Live (http://www.okclive.com/redrockcanyongrill)
At Redrock, you'll enjoy a fresh combination of Southwest and American cuisine served in a casual, energetic atmosphere.
Redrock is a very elegant restaurant located on Lake Hefner. Dining inside you will find a very romantic atmosphere with an open grill and low lights. During the summer they open up the patio outside and provide free music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Usually the Thursday night music is a full band with upbeat energy. Friday and Saturday normally are more low key acoustic sets.
This is a more casual atmosphere. There are tables you will be seated at, just as you would inside the restaurant if you would like to dine. There are also patio chairs and tables you can help yourself to. Service isn't provided to these, but there is an outdoor bar so you can easily get a drink. There are also built in benches within the walls, so plenty of seating is available.
Outside you would be comfortable in business, evening, or casual attire.
All ages are welcome. You will find a range of ages, but the energy is very low key so you would be perfectly comfortable on a date, with family, or with a group of friends.
"Our live bands are the best in OKC and with no cover it allows all of our guests to enjoy great quality music with the unique backdrop for each band. We like to start the bands at 6:30 pm so people that dine with us or just like to listen and have a few cocktails at our patio bar will have a great place to go and not have to stay out late to enjoy great fun and music. We take great pride in our service standards and food. We take it to the next level with the best bands we can find. Together it creates a fun and electric atmosphere that you can get nowhere else in OKC." - Brian Thomson, General Manager
Some of their signature items include Pablano, calamari, rotisserie chicken, wood fire beef tenderloin, skillet cornbread, and fresh Atlantic salmon. They have daily features which include Canyon cut steaks and fresh fish of the day. They also have an upscale extensive wine list.

Misty 07-12-2007, 12:33 PM Last time I was there they told me it was for sale. Anyone know any more about it?
kmf563 07-12-2007, 12:35 PM When was this Misty and do you remember who told you that? Jeremy didn't mention it, but I can call him and find out. I'm sure he's looking at this already and we will get an answer soon!
Misty 07-12-2007, 12:41 PM It's been a while. One of the bartenders told me. I don't believe they own the building so it was the business, not the building, that was for sale.
Easy180 07-12-2007, 01:13 PM While we are on the topic of Tapwerks...Hit The Flying Saucer in Addison several times while on business in Dallas...Awesome place with a similar beer count as Tapwerks
Big difference is the saucer runs nightly specials...Monday night they have like $2.50 pints on nearly all beer (Packed)....Wednesday night they highlight a beer (Was Newcastle when I was there) for $2.50 and they throw in the branded pint glass with every single Newcastle you buy for a nominal charge (Packed)
Point is...We wondered why Tap Werks doesn't run specials like this...Why the happy hour is only like a buck off domestics...Doesn't make sense cause none of us go to places like Tapwerks for the domestic beer
Haven't been in a while so it may have changed
Misty 07-12-2007, 01:31 PM I know, the Gingerman in Austin does the same thing. Domestic beer=gross. I haven't been anywhere here yet that has a happy hour that knocked my socks off. I used to do happy hour several times in week in TX. Oh well, now my money just gets spent at Byron's.

Belle Isle has a decent one Misty...Hit it last night for happy hour and I think it lasts til 7....Had around 6 or 7 of their beers and a burger for $22
But you are right....Not too many good happy hour spots in the city
Sorry to derail the topic kmf!
ksearls 07-12-2007, 01:52 PM I believe that Jeremy is or works for new owner, heard it just sold the other day when he was at the Bricktown Assoc. meeting.
I am pretty sure that under ABLE Commission rules, bars and restaurants are not able to offer happy hour specials on strong beer or liquor. That's why everyone offers domestic (3.2) beer for HH.
Love the Gingerman in Dallas, never been in Austin. Also love old-fashioned two-for-one happy hour...those were the good ol' days!
kmf563 07-12-2007, 01:53 PM You aren't derailing at all - I'm happy it's being discussed.
Belle Isle will be another featured venue sometime soon.
I think Tapwerks focuses more on a monthly special because they don't have a lot of the same kind of clientele as the other bars mentioned above. But maybe they will take this into consideration and change a few things. Tell them you want more non-domestic specials. That's what they are known for so they should "flaunt" it.

That would make sense. Good old Able Commission.

Well hell, no wonder I can't find a good happy hour! I'd forgotten about this. Man, I really wish I would have remembered some of these things before I moved back here. Just kidding, I do love OKC and have high hopes that some of these ridiculous rules will be changed in my lifetime.

Gotcha...Thanks for the explanation....More good old Oklahoma laws designed to help us all make smarter decisions
Cue the banjo music
kmf563 07-12-2007, 02:00 PM Misty - completely off topic, do you know a band from Austin called j.price?
Misty 07-12-2007, 02:02 PM Never heard of them, sorry.
Easy180 07-12-2007, 02:04 PM But I do like me some Spoon
Guy at work told me about them and I like a lot of their songs
Look to be playing at the HOB in Dallas later this year
Ever seen them live Misty?
Misty 07-12-2007, 02:12 PM Yes, they are great. There's so much good music out of Austin.
kmf563 07-12-2007, 02:22 PM haha. I just got that - poor misty has been going all over town trying to find specials on something the funhaters of oklahoma won't allow. that just sucks. well, at least now you know. like you said, you can have happy hour at home with supplies from our good friend byron, then come out and be social later.
Misty 07-12-2007, 02:25 PM LOL, I just thought all the bar owners were a bunch of cheap bastards that wouldn't lose a buck on a jack and coke. DUH!
TapWerksJeremy 07-13-2007, 12:03 PM Hey everyone sorry it took me a bit to answer back to this thread....
I'll start with the basics, I am Jeremy, my wife and I purchased TapWerks from Scott on May 1st. We still have the same basic concept, lots of choices of great beer and a relaxed atmosphere. We are just cleaning things up a bit and increasing the service.
On the drink specials.......Good Ole ABLE won't let us run any kind of special on anything higher then 3.2 unless we run it for longer than a week. Which kinda stinks for us because anytime we run a special it sells out pretty quick and the distributors have a hard time keeping up. We are starting to run specials once a month on new beers that come into the market to help them get their name out there.
Tonight we are having live rock karaoke with MetalNutz its a blast. So if you get a chance come on it and enjoy the show

Hey thanks for the response Jeremy! I'll see you tomorrow night.
And thanks - your wording in the last sentence brought tears to my eyes from laughter. I think you meant to say come on IN...:LolLolLol :Smiley051

How about happy hour prices on mexican beer (Dos XX, Corona) every day? Shouldn't run out of that right? Plus, Dos XX is my fav. I say $2 mexican beers every day for happy hour!!!!!!!
TapWerksJeremy 07-13-2007, 01:25 PM ummmm yeah I totally meant come on in........I guess i should watch what i type a little closer eh?.......oooops
Mexican beers eh? that is something that we could think about we have also toyed with the idea of half prices Appetizers.
Easy180 07-13-2007, 01:40 PM Good luck Jeremy...Yeah anything you can do with specials up there would help...Wife isn't real thrilled with laying down around $80 for the two of us to drink beer for a few hours
Me neither really, but as a guy I think it's well worth it to sacrifice some extra money for the good stuff!
kmf563 07-19-2007, 10:45 AM Well I guess after Jeremy's grand feature and participation on Tapwerks the other venues felt threatened because I haven't received any more responses from those that wanted to participate. Sooooo....this week I chose to feature a venue that just closed it's doors. They did this without much notice, not sure exactly what's going on but they are supposedly returning according to their website. Maybe one of you have more info. This is a big problem guys. Venues come and go quickly in this town and it hurts the entire local music scene. Music will never go away, we need to figure out how to embrace it and make it benefit this city.
At least they are still supporting local artists and say they have future plans.
Anyway, there's my daily rant. If I don't hear from any other venues..you will get my personal opinionated review from now on. Now, here is this week's (closed) venue:
Blue Moon
"BLUE MOON HAS TEMPORARILY CLOSED HER DOORS.
WE DEEPLY THANK ALL THOSE WHO SUPPORT THE MOON AND THOSE WHO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT INDEPENDENT ARTISTS!
Entering a new Phase, The Moon is in a process of reorganization to reopen in a new location in early 2008 & continue to bring excellent independent music and visual art to Oklahoma City...stay tuned!*We will keep you informed as to the reopening date and new location.
In the meantime, please continue to support our awesome Indy Artists! Buy their MUSIC!! And keep checking in here.... You'll continue to find links to Blue Moon Artists' websites, and samples of their music on our Blue Moon Radio Player! (click above to listen)*ALSO, view the Video archives of Live Shows from The Moon on YouTube (click above to watch)"

kmf563 07-19-2007, 11:22 AM and btw - we had a great time Saturday night Jeremy! The staff was great and we had a good crowd for the band. A little crazy after the White Trash Bash crowd got there, lol, but a good time was had indeed. Sorry I missed you and your wife - we'll meet next time!
TapWerksJeremy 07-21-2007, 02:13 PM Sorry we missed ya.......
We have Ocean playing tonight. They do an excellent job of covering everything from 80's pop to Justin Timberlake and Madonna.
We will be here all evening!!!!!!
