Many of you have stated that you would love to support more local music but aren't sure where to go or who to see. Most of you know by now that I help promote a lot of the local music and some national acts when they come into town, so I am familiar with the local talent and the venues themselves. CCOKC suggested that I give some kind of weekly suggestions as to who to go check out. What do you guys think about this idea? And what information would you like to see?
Some of the ideas I have had so far:
1. a weekly list of my personal top picks of who you should check out within different genres of music
2. featuring a different local band every week
3. featuring a different venue every week
Let me know what I can do to help bring the level of support up in OKC!!

That's another idea...there are a lot of venues where you can catch free shows and a lot of people aren't aware of this. Sure you spend money on drinks and/or food...but it's up to you how much to spend. There have been plenty of times that I have gone and had good old fashioned free water and enjoyed a free show.

If you aren't receiving service, you don't have to tip. Most of these places have "free" areas where you take care of yourself.
I think that would be great. It's always interesting to get someone else take on things and it's real easy to get kind of stuck seeing two or three bands all the time.

Thanks for the thread. I would like to the first option but also would like to see a feature on local bands and maybe some of the artists would like the opportunity to promote themselves here as well.

Ok, I've been working on this and I've got some really good ideas in the works that I think you all will enjoy. Also I think it might just help everyone involved. So, stay tuned!
