Thread: Chritina Fallin is single........again

I'm not a huge fan of the Governor, but I'm not sure what this has to do with politics. The woman cannot control her adult children.

Very true, but how many times do we see people blame the parents for not instilling proper morals in their children? Granted, Fallin isn't exactly a shining example to follow when it comes to the sanctity of marriage. I think the bigger issue when it comes to her children is letting her son and friends run the "historic Governor's mansion" like a frat house...then turn around and ask for people to buy a Mathis Brothers ornament to help restore it.

It has to do with politics because she is the governor who ran on "faith, family, and freedom". It's yet another example of the hypocrisy of the right.

If a kid from a horrible home life turns out great, was it the parenting that made it so? Obviously not.

Similarly, why is it necessarily the parent's fault if the kid from a decent family turns out to be an idiot?

So you're saying Fallin is living up to her own slogan? Family is family, and obviously she's done a pretty ****ty job of parenting. Maybe her own affair/divorce caused it? Who knows. Maybe she shouldn't run on "faith, family, and freedom"?

Children are funny. You can raise two kids the exact same way and have them come out completely differently. Using the fact that her daughter got a divorce as an attack on Mary Fallin is really, really reaching for something to criticize her on.

maybe you don't understand the term family is family... my little brother is a total screw up.. can't manage money, can't keep a job, and sometimes can't stay out of trouble. But i will always be there for him and help him if he truly needs it. why? because Family is Family. Unconditional love does not work if you put conditions on it. Her chastising her daughter publicly or disowning her would not be the correct thing to do.

yes, i do believe she has lived up to the slogan. and while i think it was a dumb slogan and i would never vote for someone because of their belief in how a family works, she did, and she won, and she has absolutely shown that Family is Family, no matter what. whether that be going through two marriages for her daughter or allowing her son to through a frat party at the governors mansion.

Christina Fallin seems like a strange girl who goes to extremes to get attention. Should that reflect on her Mother? I don't know. Kids are both nature and nurture and who knows what part of Christina's personality is what she learned from her parents.

Regardless, it does seem like the Governor might stop presenting herself as the crusader for family values. Glass houses are vulnerable to rocks.

Then, "family values" has always seemed like a particularly empty political platform element. It is purposely vague and cynical but, unfortunately, has in the past won votes.

Having listened to the Governor many, many times pontificate on her view of "family," it's probably not something she should pretend to be able to define for anybody else any longer. Put aside her messy divorce, public "inappropriate friendships" and the rest and she doesn't really add up to anybody's role model for parenting. Then, whose are?

The only reason I care about this is that I've felt the bony finger of judgement pointing at "the them" from all the politicians who have used this tactic.

"They are eroding and undermining the traditional Family. I will govern to protect and strengthen families."

Yeah and a chicken in every pot.

This is the kind of nonsense that made me so loathe the right wing noise machinery. Now increasingly it's becoming the language of the left. How lovely.

LOL, guess my family values and faith are very different from hers and yours. That is fine, but keep in mind, she's the one who ran on the slogan. No way has she lived up to it, but hey, it got her elected with a free pass, so it's all good.

I totally understand what you and others are saying about grown kids not living up to expectations, but good grief, what else has to happen for the right wingers to see Fallin is a fraud?

The existence of a child who makes decisions that you may or may not approve of doesnt' in any way expose whether your beliefs are hypocritical or not, nor is it an indictment on parenting if a child does so.

Not sure how many times I have to say this. I'm have not and never will run for political office on "faith, family, and friends". If I did, I'd make damn sure I lived up to my motto.
